So what you're really saying is

your brother worked on Inception.
Eh, I have said it before. He is Cilian Murphy's stand in. So basically if you see the back of Murphy's head, it might be my bro. Work is work.

I just posted the above because it just shows how cool JGL is. Each time my brother has worked on a film with him he just talks about how cool and talented he is. And that Christopher Eccelston is pampered princess.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is easily Oscar-bound based on his talent. Just needs the right role. Hopefully this is it, though the Academy doesn't really tend to recognize these sorts of movies in departments outside of the technical ones. Even more rarely for the acting.

I've been saying this forever. The guy is amazing, definitely one of the most talented young actors around, he just needs to get the right movie.

Just get rid it. Take it out completely.

for what its worth they say it on the latest Behind the Screened Door podcast with absolutely no warning whatsoever, they only bring up Inception for a very brief moment.

Future warning in case anyone listens to that podcast!

Awesome I hate movies under an hour and 40-50 mins...Long movies don't bother me at all.
There are a lot of great movies under that time limit. I never understood people's problem with long movies (if it is made well, you wont notice), and I cannot understand people's problem with short movies either unless it feels like something was missing. If it is made well, you wont notice or care.

A movie's length should only be as long as the story needs it to be. I wouldn't want to watch a 150 minute long version of (500) Days of Summer, or Toy Story, no matter how good those movies are, IMO.

The truth. And I would not want to watch a 90 minute version of Lord of the Rings. A movie's length should be invisible if it tells its story well.

- early tracking for Inception puts it just above Salt.

One of the three big tracking companies has Salt running just a teeny tiny bit behind Inception in terms of the usual categories -- awareness, unaided awareness, definite interest, first choice and top-three-choices. Inception is opening a week earlier than Salt, of course, and has been marketing fairly steadily while Salt is just turning the heat on.

Right now Inception is at 56 awareness vs. Salt's 54, except Salt's unaided awareness is at 3 vs. Inception's 2. Salt has a 46 definite interest vs. a 47 for Inception. Salt has a 5 first choice vs. Inception's 6. And they're both sitting at 15 among the top three choices.

One significant factor, it appears, is that Salt's definite interest is in the strong 40s among older and younger men and women. (The Angie factor, of course.) I'm waiting for Inception breakdowns as we speak (any minute!), but one presumes that it's probably tracking a bit stronger among men than women. That Nolan-ish thing. But then presumptions and $1.75 will get you a bus ticket.

My brother has worked on several movies with him and has said he is a really cool, down to earth guy. On Inception he said that while all the other stars like Leo would send their assistants to get food from craft services during meal times, JGL would stand in line with the rest of the crew and wait his turn like everyone else. He also said he was the nicest and most professional person working on G.I. Joe.

I am glad that JGL should be getting more recognition.

I've never seen a single second of any Mad Max film :/ I should probably get on that...worth it?
Oh yes. The original is fantastic but has not aged as well as the second one. Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior is one of the best action films made. Just ridiculous, over the top stunts and a great visual style that has been endlessly copied in film and video games.

You can avoid Beyond Thunderdome...except for Master Blaster!

I actually quite enjoyed Thuderdome, and found Road Warrior to be a bit overrated, but I'm living in life where Road Warrior already happened and influenced everything, so take that with a grain of salt.

I barely even know Salt exists, less alone when it releases.

Yeah, I almost always find tracking to be bullshit. Inception will definitely have a much longer haul then Salt when all said and done.

Just get The Road Warrior. Its the best film, its on Blu, and the transfer is great. And its like $10.

Haha I remember watching him in Angels in the Outfield and then years of nothing and then BAM he shows up in 500 Days of Summer. Has he been doing obscure indie films all these years or what?

watch Brick, Mysterious Skin and The Lookout.

Double agreed. The stunts in there are incredible, and Mel Gibson was the sex in that film. I dressed up as Road Warrior for Halloween, I felt like a boss. Though some people thought I was trying to dress up as a gay stripper.... :/

Can't wait for Fury Road, but Miller has a lot of work cut out for him. I don't think Hardy's at Gibson's level, but he won't let the part down either. One of the most interesting upcoming actors at the moment. Even more interesting than Levitt.

Also I hope Salt does well if only to convince WB that female action films can prosper at this time. So hyped for Soderbergh's Haywire

The Road Warrior is one of my favorite films ever. It's bleak and quirky, a simple tale set in a strange world. It effectively builds a myth right before your eyes without spoiling the intrigue of it. Oh, and it's also got some amazing action and the best child character in the history of cinema.

Ugh, i'm getting little worried now. I want this movie to do well.

I have a feeling it will be like Avatar, a lot of word of mouth and repeat viewings. Plus its the the only IMAX film for two months.

Would Avatar have gotten it's word of mouth if it wasn't in 3D? I tried watching it on BluRay and I was actually pissed that I bought the film.

I'm liking the style of this movie though. Looks like an international heist movie with some slick mind-tricks. Needs less Leo though. I think it would be awesome if they got somebody way more charismatic as the leader.

The only word of mouth from the casual audience I see this getting is "Uh...I didn't get it. Some buildings were upside down and lol some guy got kicked in a chair"

What the fuck? This doesn't make sense considering the type of character Leo plays in the movie. :lol

What type of character does he play then?

I'm still not convinced on this guy's ability to carry a movie. Hate him.

You must have missed all the movies he's been able to carry, then.

I'd be shocked if this made 1/4 of what Avatar pulled domestically in when it's all said and done.

You think so? He just turns in competent performances I think.

He hasn't really 'carried' anything so far. Blood Diamond would have been crap with or without him. As opposed to Daniel Day Lewis practically saving Gangs of New York from total mediocrity.

His performance saved The Departed for me.

I just meant the box office pattern, not the actual gross. There is no way it will touch Avatar numbers.

To each his own. Inception also doesn't have a chance at that box office pattern.

Avatar had....nothing ahead of it for a little while. Inception is right in the middle of the summer. It will probably be number 1 for about two weeks or something.

This is madness.

Interesting that you posted that in this thread since it kind of put a rut in Nolan's plans for a Howard Hughes film with Jim Carrey (would have been dope).

Absolutely agree with this post. Mysterious Skin's not for everyone though, I thought it was pretty great especially JGL.

Discotheque said:
Shiet. I totally forgot about Chipmunks and Sherlock Holmes. I remember when some people thought Holmes would destroy Avatar :lol
Both came out one week after Avatar, but it held them back. It may have lost the first day to Holmes, but it won the weekend. Avatar just had crazy legs.

Inception I think will probably top between $200-$250 million when all is said and done. Maybe high $200s, but I really dont see it going higher than $300 million. I would like to be wrong though.
