HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUCK
HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUCK
HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUCK
HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUCK

Movie sounds great but I still hate Dicaprio's face. Whenever I see him, Titanic comes to mind. I'll probably never get over this.

I think I'm going into temporary madness. Those fucking banners, fuuuuuck. oh god, PLEASE be billboards. I don't know what to say, except that I hope I'll be alive to watch this. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-

When i mentioned the comparison i was not thinking on a stylistic level. I dont think cameron has don anything on the depth of memento or prestige (my favorite nolan film). Cameron knows action almost better than any other director. His laundry list of movies from the 80s to 90s is like a top 10 of list of my favorite action films. I guess i can see cameron being the director that defines late 80s and early 90s i kind of want to see Nolan define the 2010s. even though 2010-2019 is going to be the super hero decade.

i also did not know he did insomnia and i really like robin williams. is it worth seeing?
Insomnia is worth seeing. Williams is excellent in it.

Leonardo DiCaprio has seen the film, his thoughts:

Leonardo admitted he is still baffled by the film, even though he has seen it (what?):
Cool, I want it to be trippy like Memento.

Terminator 1 is fun for what it is (a cheesy horror b-movie), but doesn't come close to Nolan's movies, let alone blows them away.

I know a lot of people fiercely love T2, but I've never cared for it at all.

Nah, I think you give Cameron too little credit whilst putting Nolan up on way too high a pedestal. What's so amazing about Nolan's movies so far? I don't think any of them (save for maybe TDK and Memento....and possibly Inception) will have the same lasting appeal that Cameron's early films will have.

He's a good director, but certainly not that high above Cameron. I take back TDK comment, it's one of my favorite comic book movies but it's not going to age well at all (aside from Ledger's performance).

And God damn at those banners. Some of them are incredible.

Same, to borrow a gaming term, I'd love to see a lot of replay value from this movie.

I hope its complexity doesn't limit its box office potential though...

I don't care? I wasn't comparing their legacies or capabilities as filmmakers, I just said I've enjoyed Nolan's movies far more than Cameron's. How their lasting appeal endures over time does not matter to me.

It must really bug you that that Nolan will never shoot a film using practical effects that comes close to the practical shoots that Cameron has helmed. Cameron still schools Nolan when it comes to shooting scenes for real.
Right, but the big difference is Nolan only uses CGI as a last resort. You cant help but notice that Cameron has gone overboard with the CGI (in a good way) in his most recent movies. I guess it bugs me that I want Cameron to go back to filming like T2 or True Lies, thats how I like Cameron best.

Nolan supposedly using CG as a last resort is simply a make believe crutch. In the end, he will still have access to it, regardless of how much of the film is practical or not.

Cameron had no other choice than to use practical, and he mastered shooting with practical effects. Cameron doesn't have to fake limit himself due to not having been a filmmaker when CGI was non-existant. Hes been there and done that, and can fully move on to try entirely different things on a technical level.

/off topic

Now how about those banners eh? eh?!

LOL! Tell me this. Which parts of AVATAR did Cameron go overboard in the CG department, where he could have instead shot it live-action? He actually built the goddamn full-size mechs ffs.

Cameron does use CG as a last resort, more-so than Nolan. He re-built more than 3/4 of the Titanic down to the original carpet and cutlery ffs.

If you want the best comparison, here it is:

Cameron hanging off the back of a swat van with a camera over his shoulder, filming a helicopter following closely behind the van as it goes under tunnel bridge, because the cameraman thought it was too dangerous and Cameron had to tell him to gtfo. Before actually crashing said helicopter into the back of the truck.

vs.

The worst goddamn CGI police chopper I've ever seen being used in TDK.

Well honestly Avatar is wrench in the discussion, the entire premise of the movie calls for CGI.

You know, I think he meant when it was in the air and collided with the building.

Well obviously.

But I do know people who thought the explosion bit was cgi too.
Everyone said the garbage truck getting smashed was bad cgi... And then it was revealed that it was done through miniatures.

in the film footage Page and DiCaprio are on the ground when the city curls up, but in the banner they are on top of a building.

This movie sucks.

What if they are in both places at the same time?

It's kind of funny. I don't think TDK is the greatest thing ever (and wasn't extremely hyped months before), but for some reason I'm so insanely hyped for this one. Looks like it could be so much better in every way.
