Maldita Castilla EX is out on Steam today. It's the expanded version of an older freeware game that is bascially Ghosts And Goblins. Been keeping an eye out for this one after it released on the Xbox One not too long ago.

Man, I wish Nuclear Throne would get a 60 FPS patch, like Hyper Light Drifter.

I had it glitch a few times and run at 60FPS through some weird interpolation? There were some other artifacts, but the smooth gameplay was glorious.

How can I get these steelbooks from outside the US? The NT one in particular *swoon*

The sequel of FRAMED has been teased. I have yet to play the first one, which is sadly only available on mobile phones.

https://youtu.be/rWr1bZnFYns

First one was really fun, played it a lot with my youngest kid. Not a super challenging game, but it has such a cool concept with a flawless execution that we just kept playing to see how it works out. I would definitely be interested in a sequel, so thanks for mentioning it.

Those IndieBox's look awesome! Just got my Stanley Parable boxed collector's edition recently. That was my first purchase from those guys, and it really is a great service. The presentation and extras are great. Really happy with that purchase.

Has anyone made it to the later levels in THOTH. I'm stuck here

I think I'm about done with it. I've loved THOTH thus far but at about this point this game does all of the following:

  • Spikes up in difficulty per room
  • Makes you clear more rooms to reach next "checkpoint"
  • Adds randomness so you don't know what level is next

Which, honestly, is absolutely fine. Some people want more of a challenge. But I think I've had my satisfaction with the game and this might just be a logical stopping point for me.

Looks like Off-Peak finally hit Steam, with achievements:

It's been highlighted in these threads before. Apparently won some awards: one of Rock Paper Shotgun's Top 50 Free PC Games, and one of Slant Magazine's Top 25 from 2015.
Off-Peak - Free (PC, Mac)

You're stranded at cathedral-like train station in the near future, searching for a ticket out of town. Explore the secret passageways, interact with strangers, dig for records, and get hypnotized by the soundtrack – a new batch of never-before-heard Archie Pelago tunes
Off-Peak (free) 30min surrealist and funny walk through a train station with quirky characters. Reminded me of Richard Linklater films.

Definitely left a big dumb grin on my face for the duration, and the music is a perfect fit.

The last column is just extra stuff really, you've already beaten the main game. Even if you complete the 16 random ones you'd probably want to stop anyways because those 32 and 64 numbers are
harder versions of the main levels but you have to complete 32 without dying (I think, read it somewhere on the steam forums).

And yeah I stopped where you did.

thanks! Yeah I figured it was more of a bonus.

I posted the same thing in the steam forum and the dev recommended enabling coop and trying it alone. Haven't tried it yet but I'm I'll give it a shot.

I gave up on the generated levels after failing to even make it through the first 8, especially after I made it to the last level only to die within a fraction of a second from success. Too much in my backlog for that, or for S-Ranking THUMPER.

I played a dozen or so levels in solo co-op, the extra challenge is neat but it gets frustrating the more you play with it imo.

Cool game though, really interesting take on the twin stick shooters with slick visual and sound design.

Yeah exactly! I started chasing Rainbow medals in Action Henk and then I'm like - I have too many other games to play to run perfect runs in any basically any game.

Didn't know this was the only generated section. Neat idea but the punishment for dying is just too high.

Tried the coop last night and thought it was a nice idea too but definitely knew it was going to get frustrating.

Overall, really enjoyed THOTH just as I did 140.

Orwell - $9.99, Free demo (PC)

The demo of Orwell is great: it gave me a new view about monitoring other people's online activities. I have decided to cave in.

I have also tried for an hour or so the alpha of the following game. It is quite nice already in terms of graphics. The alpha is sadly missing the audio, which is what I enjoy the most about the trailer. The setting is some kind of ship with French sailors and talks about Indian Protectorate.

Herald: An Interactive Period Drama - PC

So DROD, the game industry's best kept secret of all time best puzzle games just added the first (and temp store pages for the second and third) games in the series as DLC for the 4th, and easiest to get into (made for beginners game). I highly recommend them, even if I haven't finished a game ever. They're incredibly long. 25+ levels with at least 15 puzzles each.

Not a secret to me, I loved Deady Rooms of Death. I played a ton of the first game back in my distant youth. Seeing how they have the original game too I am super tempted to grab that new one now.

Man that Orwell game surely looks interesting. Also what indie games have you all played recently? I'm mainly playing Stardew Valley because of the new update as well Halcyon 6, and while they are not independent anymore just started a new campaign in Endless Space.

I wish Halcyon 6 ran at 60+ FPS. It just feels sluggish. Neat game otherwise.

I've been playing Shadow Warrior 2 which I believe is technically an indie game! I love it.

In related news, I'm still waiting for the iOS port of VA-11 Hall-A. Game's perfect for an iPad.

The game is set in a mythical place of the 19th century that very much resembles the American west, as we know it from Sergio Leone‘s westerns, taking some of its most popular characteristics of outlaw gangs, saloons, cunning, sarcasm, irony, etc. There is no indication of a specific time, or place. It could be everywhere and anywhere.

It doesn't run at 60+ FPS?

Not sure if this was mentioned before but I just saw this game on twitter and it looks super cute:

Halcyon 6? Nah. It's easy to see when you scroll the map around in the galaxy view.

edit: Oh shit, there's now an option to unlock the framerate! It wasn't there at launch. I'm trying it out and it doesn't seem to screw with the animation timing!

Since I have just taken the time to format a post about my most awaited indie games in a thread by More_Badass, I thought I could cross-post them as well here. Each picture is clickable.

I am not even counting some games which are not yet on Steam: Ernesto RPG, Fidel, and Miegakure.

Yeah, I played a bit, but then I stopped because it was lacking a link between the levels, and some levels felt desperately empty or lacked meaning. I am sure all this is due to the fact this was a beta, the dev was perfectly aware of this before the beta even started, and this would be corrected in the final game. I liked what I played of the beta nonetheless: the limitless architecture and the puzzles based on it feel very original.

I did exactly the same! Played quite a lot of it but stopped. Definitely a game I've been interested in for years now and I'm really looking forward to the final release.

Anyone tried My Summer Car yet? It looks bonkers.

It is incredibly bonkers. I don't get all the Finnish references, but there's enough other humor to go around. You may need a guide, though, if you don't know how cars go together. It's not as complicated as a real car, but there have to be like 75-100 parts to assemble.
