| 3. Introductory Blurb |

We are always interested in getting to know more people with the same hobby. If you share our love for Indies, let us know! We talk about anything Indie, want to talk about the mess that DoubleFine is leaving behind? The depth(s) of Dwarf Fortress? Need recommendations? This is the right spot to ask! We'd also love to read more impressions :)

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |

If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:

Released games:

Not yet released games:

Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.

If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.

If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.

I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.

This is a monthly podcast series that presents notable Indie Game soundtracks. A likeable host and guests, a fantastic track selection, interesting discussions and a focus for Indies will make this one a mainstay in my monthly threads.

Explore a world full of traps and puzzles

Backed this one a long time ago. Now in close alpha and it delivers! Can't wait for early access/ full release. For some reason, the map always made me think of Gargoyl's Quest.

SAVAGE: The Shard of Gosen - PLAT

Ahh man, that weird like mode 7 style map takes me back. Class act on them including that.

MB has nicely arlready posted this one, but having a lot of fun with Viking Squad. Got it on a bit of an impulse but it turns out to be a good buy. Lovely mix of rapid combat, light rpg elements and silly cartoon art.

Second screen experience, my friend. Keep your iPad nearby

I'll be waiting for your impressions. I loved SpaceChem, but TIS's learning curve felt too much for me. This seems like it's a cool hybrid of the two

First impression: Shenzhen is TIS on steroids and some better production values. Dont bother if you had issues with TIS.

Thanks for the thread, plenty of good stuff to look forward to! :-D

(Additionally, could Honey be added to the "recently released" list? Or is there a qualification for it I'm missing? If you need anything, feel free to ask!)

A post similar to the specifications named in the OP (not about formatting), feel free to create one and it will be automatically included next month. ;)

Got it, thanks! Then here it is:

Honey Rose - Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire - Free (PC)

One student, two lives and six months to go. This year, Red must meet her idol Big Blue in the ring and make it to the top of the masked fighting tournament. Her dream will come true... as long as she also graduates!

EDIT: changed the "pay-what-you-liked" price information and the OT link just to be on the safe side!

Yup :) Though the last link might be broken.

Saw in the OP after the fact that it might cause some issues so I edited it out, sorry about that!

Yeah, my mind ain't ready for that. I'll stick to SpaceChem and Infinifactory

That level was still pretty straight forward and SpaceChem got a LOT harder than any of the other Zachtronics games I have played so far, but yeah, Shenzhen is taking some relearning.

Sounds like it is one for me to avoid then. I do love the logic and mystery of their other games but TIS-100 was way too far off the deep end with how time consuming it was to make changes to that puzzle engine that I got really bored with it after the puzzles started to get harder.

Well, they made many improvements to the TIS UI (its not a problem to edit code anymore), but the core idea of the puzzles still is pretty similar with some bells and whistles.

I played a game called The House Abandon this past month. I think it's a very British game, not exclusively, but the nostalgia it builds on is for the old home computers like the Amstrad, C64, spectrum. It's a text based horror game, and it's really good

I also played Mad Father, a japanese horror story game. It's a few years old but it came out on Steam a couple of weeks back. It's quite funny and charming, but also utterly horrible

Thoth looks so goooood. Love the simplicity look and local co-op looks damn coolio. Can't wait!
From the same dev as 140

The gameplay sounds awesome from this review (Kinda spoilery, as usual this game is designed to be learned through playing)

According to another article, Jeppe has had this concept gestating since before Limbo. It was a prototype he used to show off his talents to get hired by Playdead
Thoth - $9.99 (PC, Mac)

THOTH is a challenging twin-stick shooter you can conquer alone or cooperatively with a friend. Each stage is handcrafted to test coordination and puzzle-solving skills. Colorful minimalist graphics combine with an intense unnerving soundtrack, making for an exciting mix of art and arcade.

Beglitched - $9.99 (PC, Mac)

Beglitched is a game about insecurity, in our computers and ourselves. In a pastel world of networks where nobody truly knows what they’re doing, hacking is a magical art and the notorious Glitch Witch is the most premium archmagi of the net. Through what appears to be nothing more than random circumstance, YOU are her new apprentice. You must use your wits and cunning to unravel the mechanisms of an alien computer and survive amongst a veritable web of clowns, leftclickers, and filedraggers.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location - $7.99 (PC)

Welcome to Circus Baby's Pizza World, where family fun and interactivity go beyond anything you've seen at those *other* pizza places! Now hiring: Late night technician. Must enjoy cramped spaces and be comfortable around active machinery. Not responsible for death or dismemberment.
Early Thoth impressions
This is really great so far. I'd actually compare it to N++ more than another dual stick shooter. Besides the structure of the campaign (blocks of four levels), mastering the mechanics is everything much like N. You can't dodge and weave and shoot mindlessly like other shooters. You move faster when you're not shooting, and killing enemies can change the level layout, so deciding when to shoot, where you shoot from, and which enemy you shoot at, is all crucial.

Jun 7, 2004
I picked it up too. I really like the minimalist aesthetic and the way the game quickly teaches new mechanics without a single bit of text.

Jun 7, 2004
How far are you?

Hm. If each selection on the level select screen is 4 levels, I'm on level 53.

The thing that kills me the most: When the enemies I've already shot ricochet off the wall behind me. It happens faster than I expect!

Unboxing is wrongly named as in the OP and Emporium is mentioned two times in the upcoming games section.

Sep 9, 2006
Shenzhen IO is amazing. Like the internals of TIS 100 with the building placement of spacechem.
Even the solitaire twist with the bullshit blocking cards is pretty neat.
Thumper is releasing early (aka today)

Thumper - $19.99 (PC, PS4)

Thumper is rhythm violence: classic rhythm-action, blistering speed, and brutal physicality. You are a space beetle. Brave the hellish void and confront a maniacal giant head from the future.

Archimedes - $2.99 (PC, Mac, Linux)

After you purchase and install Archimedes, an old operating system appears to be running, and a strange man asks for your help as you start to discover the terrible secrets behind the game.
You will be required to interact outside of the game, with instances ranging from steganography and cryptography to real-world geographical puzzles and use of various external applications. The deeper you go, the more frightening and personal it will become.

You're In Space And Everyone Wants You Dead - Free (PC, Mac, Linux)

Run and jump through different gravity fields to escape monsters and get the highscore! Use your psychic powers to grab boxes, bombs, and the monsters themselves to defend yourself! A single touch by an enemy will lead to your demise!

Wand Wars - $11.99 (PC, Mac, Linux)

Wand Wars is a fast-paced magical sports game. Players ride brooms, cast spells and turn opponents into adorable chickens!
Try to control a powerful magical sphere that bounces around the arena, increasing in speed and size over time.

Moon River - Free (PC, Mac, Linux)

'Moon River' is a 2D top-down view brain-twisting game.
The player is locked in the screenplay: when he crosses the boundaries, he finds himself teleported to the other side of the screen.
The player has to go through different levels, leading him to use the abilities of the character to solve a series of puzzles becoming more and more complex as the game progresses.

Vestige - Free (PC)

The Monster In Me - Free (PC, Mac, Linux)

The Monster in Me is a choice-consequence game set in a post-apocalyptic world. It explores the relationship between three friends as they are thrown into stressful situations that test their friendship. As well as branching content the game remembers each decision you make and has multiple endings based on them.

Artys - Free (PC, Mac, Linux)

A cleverly crafted narrative/puzzler, in which you tell an ancient robot about life on your world and the robot tells you what caused the destruction of its civilization.
I don't like music/rhythm games. Have zero interest in Rock Band or Guitar Hero or their ilk. The only one I really liked was Necrodancer

But damn, if Thumper isn't amazing.

It's as much a Super Hexagon-y fast-as-fuck intense reflex-testing arcade game as it is a rhythm game.

Totally worth checking out with or without VR
