inFamous Second Son Walkthrough Out - Spoiler thread of Spoiling things

Hopefully they'll continue with Deslin if they continue inFamous. I just wonder what they will do to his powers, like maybe have him loose all but smoke, or one of the others then have us get some new powers in a new city. Though I can't see any immediate threat for Deslin to do anything about to go to a new city. I just hope they keep Deslin around for at least another game would like to see how they would progress him and his powers.

But as for the
Paper
power, I really doubt it's going to be in. I mean unless you get it during the missions and can use it to finish the quest line I don't really see it being too possible. I mean if it's going to be a power there is no way to upgrade it and I don't think there is any room on the menu for it.

I can only see them adding new powers in the new DLC that's like Festival of Blood which I hope they make it Canonical unlike Festival of Blood.

Would be total shitcakes if we dont get it.

Unless once Paper Trail ends, they announce a new DLC with new story, full paper power, new blast shards to collect, maybe new city area etc.

I dunno other then there being a Conduit with it, is there any hint we'd get the power? It just seems like wishful thinking right now.

It'd be the only conduit we see and don't get their power.

I'd be glad if we do get it, but I'm just not going to get my hopes up. I'll have to see how the missions start to progress to get a feel about what it's going to be about. Like if we get it quick I could see the missions about upgrading it without having to get Blast Shards. I'm just not too expectant since the Cole's Legacy DLC was just some dialog explaining some things basically and some basic combat/tracking missions.

Whats the best way to get 'Keep it up' ( stay in air for more than 45sec trophy? And for Spin-Off and Everyone's a Critic trophy I've to kill sign twirlers abd musicians?

I think the best way is to use video power with the unlock that allows you to hover in the air for a while (forgot the exact name)

HOLY SHIT. I just finished the game on evil.

Delsin is such an asshole.
How can he just destroy his whole tribe like that?!?! Betty was right. He is a disgrace to their people :(.

I think I like the evil ending better than the good ending because:

A: It makes me think for sure that in the next game you will go to Curdun Cay.

and

B: Something surprising actually happens at the end (unlike the good ending).

I really hope the evil ending is canon, but it probably won't be :(

Overall Second Son was truly an amazing game. I enjoyed playing it so much.
I do think that the evil side of the game has a better story and gameplay though.

Just got the platinum!

Took me approximately 30 hours.

For the record, on the Comet drop trophy where you have to drop 170 feet do it on top of the channel 6 tour at the end of the game.

Reach the top with your smoke powers and use
video
to get up the very last wall.

Now the trick to getting the trophy isn't just comet dropping from the top of the building. I found out the hard way that that won't unlock the trophy.

You need to dash into the
satellite dish
at the top of the building so it shoots you into the air. You then have to dash twice to get yourself above street level (instead of the concrete)

Then you just comet drop and the trophy pops :).

Thanks for the detailed tip!

Also I hope everyone really play the story twice you look at it differently during your second playthrough.

So
Paper Manipulation is the ability to transform into or have a physical body made up of paper included? Can Delsin can scatter his body into individual papers or control them in one shape, or can shape his form to create additional appendages or tools/weapons to fire at people?

I don't think anyone even knows if Delsin can get that power yet. Unless something new was uncovered?

Kinda expected some sort of story element related to the First Sons throughout the whole game based on the title. Apart from Deslin being the younger brother was the game title relevant at all?

Not really. (good ending spoilers)
The only other reference to the title is at the end of the good ending when Delsin says he will lead the second age of conduits. An age where conduits and humans can co-exist.

I don't normally go so in depth about games, but I want to talk about Second Son. Prefacing this by saying that I absolutely HATED Infamous one and 2, Second Son is something pretty special when it comes to a complete video game package.

You have to start with the graphics here, as this is surely the PS4's premiere showoff game right now. When you think about all that is going on, the lighting, the animation, the incredibly clean IQ over all, this game is a great technical achievement so early in the life cycle of the PS4. This means REALLY good things ahead tech wise on the system, and makes my recent PS4 purchase all the more justified. The Neon power looks just amazing, unlike any other lighting I have ever seen in games, and even the third power which you see at the beginning of the game, has a creative and interesting motif. Honestly, when I first saw examples of the video power in that first section of the game, I thought their was something wrong with my playstation 4, and it was causing neon powers to glitch out. A great visual implementation of that type of power.

The models for the main characters are excellent, and not only on a technical level, but as far as character design as well. Delsin looks like a mid 20's guy who isn't sure where he is going, Fetch looks like a girl who has really gone through all the things that her story said, they don't really "doll" her up for the sake of it. Eugene's model is fantastic, Betty looks like an older Native American. The only model that really sticks out to me is Reggie, and yes he kind of does look like Mr Nintendo.

Character interaction for the most part doesn't seem forced, lines are delivered well, even when they have a heavy dose of juxtaposition towards real word topics. Story wise it starts very basic, as does Delsin as a character, but for all the complaints about him being a self absorbed douche, which he is at time, you really see his character evolve and his motivations change as the game plays on(keep in mind that I am not quite finished, forgot to leave the PS4 on so cant remote play from work to finish it today).

Delsins interactions with his brother are just that, of brother to brother. What seems forced between his brother and him, separated most likely by the gulf in feelings between what they each feel actually happened to Delsin, becomes changes throughout the course of the game, and those cheesy lines start having a better landing which fleshes out the dynamic between the two and makes for some delightful banter at times. The game sure isn't so serious that we can't have a little fun.

To where I have played, right after getting the third power and a couple of core relays, Delsin and Fetch's chemistry is another great example. At the end of that arc their is some tension there, "boxing" and all, but his reaction to her after the confrontation and the following time is exactly how I would expect someone in their position to react to that situation at hand and it brings a good amount of humanity to the title.

Augustine is a great villain, and obviously as I haven't finished yet, I do not know her whole story, but someone else on the board here said that they recognised her as a despicable, villainous character after about 20 seconds of screen time, and that comment nails it and why she makes a good villain.

Honestly, while the tech is amazing, and the story serviceable, the relationship between the characters and how fleshed out it is even though there isn't much time together (this isn't a 50 hour JRPG) is the best example of why this is such a GOOD game. Because lets face it, it plays good, not great. While traversal is well done, combat is both up close and long distance and works well as both, but the lack of diversity in the sidequests/district clearing is a hindrance. I did the first, three i think, districts to completion, and haven't spent any time clearing them out since getting neon powers. I do back and grab some shards if I have to, but thats it.

Overall, the game is a great package, and a great example of a good GAME, not just a showpiece. It is a technical marvel to look at, its characters can be really human for the crazy situation they are in, in the world, and the game plays very well.

The unlocked framerate, very noticeable at times as a not-locked-at-thirty-but-not-dropping-under-thirty can detract at times if you are affected by that thing. Some will, many won't. That is a personal thing, and while I am usually very susceptible to framerate issues personally, It really has not affected me playing through Second Son

Disappointed the final set of powers. I really wanted a launch power, like the dupes have, and like inFamous 2. Thought it was a sure bet.

I did think it was weird you didnt get the thing they had, like the ice launch but tapping L1 does launch you a little with concrete.

Just finished on good. Man, the lead up to the final boss was THE most badass i've ever felt in a game. Eugene and Fetch just fucking made it.

Also, i loved that it ended with the same line as InFamous 2's good ending.

Kinda wonder if the ending to SS made Cole's sacrifice seem pointless. Unless Cole was getting rid of the plague.

I really want to know the other powers, tar, wire, flower, water. I really to see how they would work.
Video
was the one thing I never expected and SP handled it perfectly.

it did? What was the line? (might want to put in spoiler tags)

It was
"I love you, brother, and I'm sure gonna miss you."

That actually brought a tear to my eye, when
he dies and told me he was proud of me
I had to bite my lip because the girlfriend was in the room. Well done sucker punch.

I sure didn't see it coming.
My heart sank. To be honest, I was surprised I was as attached to these characters as I was.

I was expecting a bigger twist as well. Infamous 1 has the whole Kessler is Cole thing. Infamous 2 was Beast was John and Second Son...Augustine sold out her kind?

This was my exact thought too. I didn't like the good ending in Second Son because nothing unexpected really happened.

In the previous two games they had nice twists, but in this one it just ended and you were like oh wait that was the end? It was very anticlimactic.

Just finished

(Disclaimer: fuckin love infamous 1 and 2, definitely somewhere in my top 10)

UNMARKED SPOILERS (it is my understanding that is okay in a spoiler thread?)

the bad

1) Well that was short. I get that they pack more into the story missions, but there are definitely less of them than prior games. I felt like it finished when i was just getting started.

2) The final battle sucks. Whosever idea it was to have the final battle with a new power and strip all your prior options away, as well as any option for verticality or using the environment, it was a terrible idea. But man them rocks

3) Hated the new power system. Made missles far too important, and therefore they had to be limited, which was a bummer. I just fondly remember unleashing a torrent of missles in the first game and feeling damn powerful. Also, shards to purchase upgrades was dumb, it worked perfectly in the first two games with XP, and gave a reason to pick fights. Now, theres no reason, and unless you are a lazy fast traveler, no reason to clear the districts as the fights had no real benefits to them. They should have offered new powers or abilities or a ton of XP or something. I got bored of clearing districts rather fast.

3b) Grenades were nerfed (played good) again after infamous 2 already nerfed them. They are now only a means to an end which means they cant do any actual damage.

3c) Overall it felt too limiting. Remember in the first game when lighting was tied to the same power meter? you could unleash it anytime but it was power consuming. Waiting for a karmic bomb just to see a cut scene was lame. Also, invisibility could have been cool, again limited. only subdues, no using powers at all, short time span.

4) Where the hell are the side missions? This was probably the most disappointing thing is that side missions were eliminated entirely save for the "secret agent" and "files" things which could take less than a minute to finish. Im really trying to wrap my head around it all. what a strange omission

5) The city seems small because a lot of missions dont take you places. Sure they are a few city wide chases, but a lot of the infamous 2 missions would be entirely transport based allowing you to get the lay of the land.

6) The 3rd power was disappointing from what i thought it was going to be once it was mentioned in the game. I literally thought youd be able to point at any TV and pop out a character to fight for you.

7) The DUP werent very exciting enemies. Augustine was a good villian but it would have been nice to understand her mission ahead of the finale.

8) Delsin doesnt really evolve as a character. Of course he becomes good or evil based on how you control him, but he still rushes in to defeat Augustine even though that is what got his brother killed.

the good

1) Beautiful game

2) Delsin and Reggie are great together

3) Story is less bazaar... to an extent. I dont know, theres a lot of dumb stuff still and the worlds most obvious admiral ackbar moment ever.

4) Gameplay is a lot of fun. Its only missing the positive reinforcement, the XP, SOMETHING to make the DUP killing worth it.

Summary: I like this game, but not as much as infamous 1 or 2, which is a shame. It has a lot of potential, but the power limiting is too ridiculous. Maybe it was a tech decision, the hardware couldnt handle 20 or so missles on screen (i bet thats it, which is dumb, and for the same reason the final battle is in an enclosed room without the rest of the world rendered.) I loved having multiple powers, but never felt they were adequately used in the story. Instead of encouraging you to play how you want, the game definitely forced a power on you way too many times. There were not enough missions (i dont even mind some filler missions) and essentially no side missions. I just dont understand that. Am i missing something? Are they somewhere?

Overall: Great game, disappointing changes to a formula I think was close to perfect in the first game. a move toward limiting the superhero, which shouldnt happen.

Honest to God, I felt like tearing up a bit there. Seriously. The acting was so good. I believed it.

I hope we get a sequel set in Las Vegas or something with a whole new set of powers. Maybe Delsin gets depowered at the beginning, and so he has to rebuild his arsenal from scratch... maybe he gets powered by all the hooker flyers floating around, hahaha.

Paper powers would be cool though. It looks neat in the game.

I wanna see what Glass and Wire looked like. I really find how they categorize powers to be really neat. I can imagine some kind of sand/dust power where Delsin turns into a whirling dervish.

I felt the Evil ending of Second Son was a surprise, like the VERY end... not the Augustine stuff.

Beat the game as true hero today. Poor Reggie. Great game. So gorgeous. Startled my evil, expert run. After that I'll probably take a break to complete Strider or Dead Nation, but I will definitely be coming back to this game often. PEACE.
