The Caucus System is just different, and it's a fun, interesting process. Of course, when I was participating, they weren't giving away lots of free stuff either.

Iowa built it's reputation on the 1976 race when a little known Governor from Georgia named Jimmy Carter came out of no-where to win the state and built huge momentum to go on an claim the nom. Of course, since then Iowa has been more wrong than right, but they continue to get a nod for being a barometer of some type. I have disagreed with that for years, and it's my own home state.

Those are based on entrance polls, the numbers on that site are the actual precincts reporting.

Also, the real time updater is still reporting only 2 or 3% of all precincts.

Because only a very small percentage of people have been counted. It may not be a representative of the entire group which is what the entrance counting is more representative of. See statistical sampling in wikipedia.
