So let's see... Southern Baptist preacher who thinks the earth is 6,000 years old wins the caucus in state where only 24% of the population holds a bachelor's degree. Yes, good job.
And the national rate?

You're going nowhere. All the major candidates are Christian, so then by your stretch, they're all religion bashing other religions by just being Christian.

Being Christian != Pushing Christianity.

You're reaching. And Siamese Dreamer, when I said evangelicals earlier, I was referring to Born Again nutjobs. Sorry for the confusion.

Yup be prepared for mandatory teaching of creationism and Huckabee brownshirts razing natural history museums. Fun!

I'll leave the country if it comes to that. Teaching creationism in public schools is absolutely inappropriate and illogical.

The Prophet of Truth is better as a symbol for Huckabee.

Not comparing Obama to him, but Obama's opening line was Truth's tagline. Sadly, as soon as I heard, I thought about GAF.

I'm not sure, but in Iowa...

If Huckabee became president he seriously would destroy America. All the hyperbole about another 4 years of Bush destroying America, that isn't hyperbole with Huckabee. I don't understand how anyone can support him if they know the crap he stands for.

Yeah. I wasn't paying too much attention to this guy until I recently read what he stands for and it blows my mind really that people would even consider voting for him.

I know it's not over, but I'm glad Clinton and Romney took huge blows in Iowa. Those two will say and do anything to get elected. Power hungry freaks.

Yes, it makes me incredibly uncomfortable. That's exactly what I said.

OR

You need to use your head.

He is setting a precedent as a black man running for President and should focus on his strengths as a candidate, not something that could potentially divide people when he (and they) have done a good job thus far of ignoring the fact (as they should).

He should remove himself from his campaign? The man is half black, get the fuck over it. Would you feel a lot more comfortable if he did the remainder of his campaign with his face powdered white?

obama's speech gave me chills and the ending to it was amazing

did anyone else get a weird feeling that he was going to get shot during that speech? at one point during it i actually got a bad feeling that something bad was going to happen.

I had the same fear, and that fear will remain through out his entire campaign.

Again you jump in midstream without reading what I was responding to.

Any Clinton supporters here? This is the worst possible outcome in Iowa for her, isn't it?

Gay republican here. Arizona primaries are next month. Not sure who I'm going to vote for yet.

As for tonight's results, they're pretty much what I expected. Huckabee and Obama make perfect sense for Iowa.

Why? It's thanks to that movement that African-Americans can aim for anything any other American can aim for in the US. Look at the state of black people in other countries like Canada, France, the UK, Australia, etc. He can play the race card all he wants, there's still work to do in fact.

He's going to get the black vote out, a lot of black people weren't voting but in 08 it will be massive.

WTF?

Obama seems to meld traits of Martin Luther King Jr. and Ronald Reagan in his speeches. The man is a brilliant speaker. His opening was powerful!

Speculawyer came to the same conclusion. Maybe you're not getting your point across as well as you think?

We need to stop being dependent on oil? Well, no shit Obama. I guarantee you if he gets elected will be just as dependent on oil as ever. Many people have said the same thing before and we're worse off than ever. It's hard for me to take any of the candidates seriously. I mean, I'd like to vote, but I probably won't. Huckabee is too fanatical and I don't think Obama is legit for one second. So we have a fanatical Christian and an inexperienced person spouting idealism. Wonderful. I'll vote when there's an actual choice.

You just contradicted your earlier post.

You surely have a point, but putting those men in the same sentence just seems..wrong?

He first said that being christian is tantamount to "religion bashing" of other religions, and then followed it up with saying that religion is divisive. Whatever spin he puts on it now, equating Huckabee to a non-Christian religion basher is absurd.

Just admitted that I didn't know the national average. So yea, you nailed me. Congrats. But at least you've reminded me why Bush was elected... twice.

Another "voter" who is too good to vote. That's great. Keep your apathetic opinions on the respective candidates to yourself, then.

Nothing more I loathe than a person lamenting the demise of the American political system yet not doing a damn thing about it.

I'm talking about speech styles.

MLK - powerful and passionate
Reagan - concise and simple

Combine the two and you have brilliance!

Because somebody votes for whoever that makes that person a subhuman? Luckily this isnt your country.
Thats not the case anymore whats so ever. If you listen to conservative radio, all they tell you to do is vote republican or is saying stupid shit like liberals are terrorist or some other false ideology shit.

People don't even know what they voting for. dems gonna vote for dems, and republicans gonna vote for the republicans.

and another thing, Who is that piece of shit preacher that always tell born-agains to vote for the republicans? He always say that god tells him, but people with a sense of direction knows that its an agenda. Man this election system fucking sucks.

I thought you were going to kill yourself. What ever happened with that?

The nomination is his.
How hard was the Clinton camp focusing on Iowa, though? Weren't they kind of focusing nationally instead of pouring more money into Iowa like Edwards was?

It really is remarkable how many Democrats voted, and not to mention, that Barack Obama won in Iowa.

No, but I did get a weird feeling that someone is going to take a shot at him if he wins the nomination. :-/

Anecdotally, I've seen a heck of a lot more Obama in Iowa than Clinton in the past months.

Oh, I'm not lamenting a fucking thing. I think we're in so far over our head that I'm simply moving to Canada. I'm sure I'll be greeted with such witticisms as, "You won't be missed," but that goes both ways. We don't need a president, we need a savior after the fallout of Bush. I think some of you are being incredibly delusional if you think Obama or Huckabee is that savior.
