Completely inaccurate. I have the Jaybird X3 and the only downside was the hit in audiophile grade iems I had before. Everything else has been far more convenient for me. I can't tell you how many times wires get caught on random things in NYC. And the battery easily lasts the entire day. Sometimes I don't charge it and I'm good to go. And I alternate between my One Plus 3T and 7+ constantly and it's seamless. So I cannot agree with your assertion at all.

I owned the Jaybirds as well. Dropped that shit and went back to wired. Battery issues are ridiculously infuriating and I don't want to charge something else.

You can keep the dongle attached to your wired headphones and then it’s like your normal headphones, except the tip is different.

But then I realised that I quite often misplace headphones, or leave them at home when I’m travelling. With my current phone I can pick up a £10 pair at the train station/airport and I’m good. With no headphone jack that’s not possible. And I don’t think lightning dongles are so common that you can pick them up in a convenience store yet

So yes, you can have a similar experience with your wired headphones and I’m sure lots of people do. But there are also clear limitations that will affect lots of people too.

You don’t use touchID for bank apps. You use biometric unlocking. TouchID just happens to be the way that is surfaced in current iPhones. If Apple replace that with faceID, you could still use your bank apps. Maybe they’d need a quick update

We’re not quite there yet, but it won’t be long before in the same situation you’ll be able to pick up a cheap pair of Bluetooth headphones anywhere. You can get them for under £20 on Amazon.

They most likely wouldn’t even need an update - anything that uses TouchID is using a system level API. If that’s just replayed with FaceID or whatever it’s called then the app might not see any difference.

Windows hello took a while to get good on the surface pro 4. And I don’t know what it’s effective angle of operation is - wonder if anyone has measured it? 120 degrees sounds like it would be needed to be able to unlock a phone from a desk

i do have surface pro and it's quite fast already, apple needs only to speed it up this process.

both technology have some drawback
face id = viewing angle and possibly extremely dark environment ? ( don't know for sure)

Touch ID = do not works well with wet finger or slighty dirty finger

today I'm very satisfied with Touch ID ( but only with iPhone implementation, samsung S6- S7-S8, which I do have on works phone device, it's a shitty implementation that it's more frustrating than useful )

tomorrow .. who knows ? maybe Apple really speed it up the recognition process ( which is the question mark on face id) and found a way to improve security ( which is shitty on some other manufacture products.. )


without tangible evidence , I don't think that Apple would release on the most anticipated phone release since iPhone6, a crappy implementation of security login verification, which is, today, one of the very best key selling point for an iPhone device and Apple Pay system

The rumor is that Face ID will replace Touch ID for Apple Pay.

No more issues with gloves and no more issues with wet fingers. I can easily unlock it with no effort on my part. Unlocking apps/passwords would also be easier. Let's just hope it works well for a first release. Considering the surface has it (fairly) well done, this shouldn't be too bad. Surface is definitely not perfect though.

Since you're already looking at your phone it might be seamless enough that you feel like there are no barriers to doing things.

Depends how flexible it is. What if you’re wearing sunglasses? A hat? Put on different makeup? Grew a moustache? I would have thought people’s faces change or are obscured by clothing more than fingers are.

Where have you been? We've know this for a while now TouchID was gone!

But you'll still be able to use your face to unlock your banking apps.

I do wish TouchID remained however and was shipped with the 3D Facial recognition. But I guess Apple chose what they chose, im willing to be optimistic and see if it's any good before writing it off.

If it's trash, which I believe it will be...not completely anyway, then I'm gonna skip this year and hope next years better.

100% agreed. The convenience of AirPods/BT cans far outweighs the marginal sound quality decrease.

I am beyond thrilled with my Seinheser Momentum 2s. They're costly but they sound phenomenal in wireless mode. They last something like 14 hours on a charge. I plug them in to my computer at work once a week, it's no big deal. Team wireless.
