Is 2015 the year of the PS4?

Xbone has the holiday wrapped up. Price drop along with Halo 5 and other game ensures this. The real question is whether or not Sony tries to coast by on third party marketing deals like they have been doing since their first party output is horrendous so far this gen.

Battlefront, bruh.

Sony is gonna ride those X-Wings into the sunset.

Goat Simulator on list wars

They should rename the MCC to GOAT Simulator this year to celebrate the year of the goat.

Come on, i don't want to do that, but if you want a list here it is:
Ori and the blind forest
Pneuma breath of life
State of Decay
Fable Legends
Goat Simulator
Tomb Raider
Halo 5
Forza 6

Please don't tell me most of these games are indies and PC cause you have those in your list too, same for games that you think are or will be bad, cause you have bad game like The Order in your list too...

I didn't even include indie, digital-only or games also releasing simultaneously on PC in my list. If I add those it becomes even more lopsided in PS4's favor.

Any way I hate these list wars, but I hate misinformation even more!

Ok Based off what we know now:

Im a consumer without a current gen console, no friends, no prior accounts on last gen systems. Im open to play any, and every game, but can only chose one.

Base on what information we have now, what console do I go with for 2015? Because Jan 1 2016, the Console self destructs.

Vita.

Sales and popularity - PS4 (like last year and more than likely the whole generation)

Games- Xbox One (gets all the multiplats + Halo)

In terms of sales and popularity? Last year was the year of PS4 too, in terms of games, Persona 5, Bloodborne, DMC 4, Arkham Knight will make this the best year of the system imo.

Another person that thinks America is the world. Also if PS4 gets a price cut to $299 it won't matter what games Xbox is offering this Fall they won't dominate(in the U.S.).

I think Sony's First Party Studios will hit stride starting next year. With the success they have been getting from 3rd party relatioms and indie games, it is safe to say that they have managed to fill in the months where game droughts really hit the systems hard.

Now the question will be, what does MS have in store for us next year when all their big names are dropping this holiday. I'm sure Gears is one as well as Quantum Break, but Scalebound looks to be at least 2 years away from release. Best thing to do is wait for e3 to judge who's year is 2015.

Since this is basically a list wars begging thread, it would be useful to have some actual information. Here's notable games for 2015 release (already out, or planned for the year) that are on one system and not available on the other

The quality of these games is certainly up for debate, but it does seem that in terms of sheer number, the PS4 has the advantage. I don't know if it's the "year of PS4", though. XB1 will do extremely well during the holiday again.

Dragon Quest Heroes.
J-Stars Victory
One Piece Pirate Warriors 3
Saint Seiya.
Etc...

" list wars " = games releasing

Aren't games what make the system? What's wrong with a list of games coming out ? Never have understood that list wars thing

Me either. I think its when its used to say with game are better that the other, with varying opinions I can see that getting annoying.

However when comparing whats coming out, It's legitimate

ps4 is clearly the best next gen console. With the announcement of all those JRPGs people are seeing its potential to be a ps2. This is how gaming should be, one console gettign the majority of games. ps2 era was awesome because ps2 got pretty much every game worth a damn. I dont want to buy multiple consoles. Ps4 is gonna make this gen great for me. i'm sure timed exclusives like Tomb Raider wil be on ps4 eventually as well :)

I feel like an outlier on GAF, but I'm always more interested in Sony's first party efforts with external studios. Uncharted, Killzone, and God of War may as well not exist for me, but I'll eat up Rime, Journey, Unfinished Swan, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Bloodborne, Helldivers, and whatever Quantic Dream is making. Inevitably, it'll be the top multiplats I enjoy most, I'm happy just getting the best console versions of those games.

People need to learn how to read lists. And I mean r.e.a.d.
You can't just put two lists one against another and he bigger one wins.

There are games which don't count when comparing lists. For example: indies, cinematic, yellow on metacritic, no single-player, released on a friday, too gamey.

So next time you decide to post both the PS4 and XBox One lists all victorious for your preferred platform, remember that the PS4 has more games that DO.NOT.COUNT and as such loses out to XBox One's list.

There's no place for subjectiveness in list wars, I feel. We need clear rules.

Is this thread about sales?

Honestly idk

Sarcasm?

the majority of games are being announce for PS4, either exclusively or marketed for.

Yeah I'm going to need to see some statistics to back that up.

You know "majority" just means PS4 needs only 1 more announced game than Xbox One?

Ok, here goes the statistics:

Released games: 277 PS4, 188 Xbox One. Majority goes to?

-

Upcoming games (retail only, digital games included would be way more skewed): 67 PS4, 50 Xbox One. Majority goes to?

nah. that's 2016. when they have a solid base lineup and Morpheus comes out. then things get interesting.

right now I'm just hoping 2015 is the year of Actually Functional Shipped Games.

BUT THOSE GAMES DONT COUNT.

For... eh, for reasons.

The Order doesn't count because black bars.
Bloodborne doesn't count because 30FPS.
MLB The Show doesn't count because yearly franchise.
Until Dawn doesn't count because interactive movie.
Tearaway doesn't count because 7 people have already played it on Vita.
No Mans Sky doesn't count because it will eventually come to other plattforms.
Persona 5 doesn't count because only weird people care for these kinds of japanese games.

I'm not serious.

Console wars: The thread.

Yep.

Seems to have been an overall resurgence of them on these forums this week.

2015 is going to be a solid year for current gen as a whole (unless there are more delays) since we are moving away from last gen systems. Every current gen ystem has a solid 2015 exclusive lineup that will probably be even more solid after E3.
