Is Neogaf a top site for Gaming News?

Probably less so than a few of years ago in it's reboot where people were more keen to post the latest stuff all the time, I'd call it a loose aggregator now.

I feel like it's decent.

I'd think there are other sites that provide news faster though, but then again this is a forum and not a news site.

Is this the IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo appreciation thread?

It should be. Every thread IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo makes I'm on it like white on rice, catching up on things.

GAF is my main top site. Some of the console warring is entertaining as well.

It was, now it's like an irrelevant slowly decaying corpse filled with weirdos, much like Aintitcoolnews.
Maybe like rpgcodex with slightly fewer edgelords.

Compared to other forums today, is this still a good website to keep track of all gaming news and rumors as they happen or are other places like Reddit or other forums much quicker at it? Just wanna be more active on here so hopefully all is still good.
Be more active bringing the news yourself, someone has to compensate for the shitty members who never make threads.
the're some of the best forum debaters in here do, like miself, which makes the shit posting and warring almost residual.... Best place ever.

Gematsu is the best place for news, no opinions, no "journalism"(read activism) and they cover even the smallest bits of news from all over the world.
Gaf is good for discussing the news.

Other sites seem to get the breaking news quicker. Resetera does for the simple fact that it is a lot busier.

After a 2yr hiatus, I have started using my account over there again. Too many fanboys have ruined GAF unfortunately.
That other place who

Ban discussion of cyberpunk 2077, hogwarts legacy, kingdom come deliverance etc

Actively support Ezra Miller who kidnapped underaged girls just bcos he declares himself non binary?

The "GAF>Internet>GAF" didn't come from nowhere ;) The gathers all the leans and rumors from Teitter, Rera, 4Chan etc., it truly is the only place you really need to be up to date with the industry.

N4G was the news site that I was on. But ever since joining GaF I haven't felt like I missed out on news.

Plus you got to love all the crazy meltdown threads here. That's something I never got on N4G.

For me, it is.
For everyone maybe not.

I find it cyclical tbh, people get busy so don't post as often at times. Like @drauhas been doing excellent work lately with the threads. People step up when needed and fill gaps.

Lets face it, no one needs news THAT fast and usually GAF has a topic up within a few hours. Forum personalities learned it was more lucrative to use their own social media for attention so most topics are just offshoots from that or /r/

It's very rare that any breaking news happens from within a forum any more. And usually when it does its wrong, or just a drop to direct the forums users to an article elsewhere.

It works for me. Era is a little quicker on the stuff probably becasue they have more eyeballs on it, but it ends up on here plenty fast enough, and the first page knee-jerk replies are a little less painful to read.

I don't know but it's literally the only one i use (and first page of reeee because sometimes they are faster)

@IbizaCipollo give his best to keep the site updated tho(y)

Feels like even game news aren't what they used to be, games take way too much time to be made now and so we end up with boring threads.

Best place to comment on video game happenings. Neogaf at least carries the illusion that there's a historical pedigree at work.

Resetera is way better imo for news, as it's much busier.

I normally get my news from there, read the thread and then come here to read the caustic, jerkass pov that Gaf often inhabits.

By the time I see an article online, GAF has a thread about it with a page or two of comments. By the time I copy/paste a site, someone has done the due diligence of making a thread about the subject. It's crazy and appreciative, very appreciative.

Often times someone writes an article and it could have been written by a computer. There's nothing but raw information straight from the developer or publisher. Which is expected, appreciated, and needed. It can also be very dry and misleading if there's no discussion of what it is and what it's all about. I walk into GameStop and they'll sell you whatever. No one will step up because their job is to sell you a game versus talk you out of it.

One side of the industry wants you to listen to that buy-everything mentality because they make their living off of it. The other one is the realist, who will tell you what's what in their own way. While that's difficult if someone is being bias towards a game. This hobby does best when you have someone else to sh*t on it or being amazed by it. I won't go back to buying anything and everything just cause it came out.

If I remember correctly, E3 denied tickets to GAF for not being a traditional news outlet years ago. Looking at it now, GAF has been the source for widespread topics without waiting for some journalist to do an in depth write up on the subject. It does a better job with its users grabbing multiple resources across the web because it's users are fans with their own knowledge base to use. A lot of us didn't have to get a journalist job in order to discuss video games online.

Nah, this is a place for more or less discussion. I wouldn't recommend relying on Gaf for solely news as Gaf doesn't news more breaking news niche-r stuff.

No. Thers a good amount of news posted here but they get fast burried because click bait threads spreading rumors and FUD and warring threads keep getting bumbed up.

I use a mix of Eurogamer Portugal for most western games news, and Gematsu for japanese game news. Gematsu format is my favorite, its just a torrent of gaming news without personal opinions, its a pitty they pretty much just focus on japanese games, and rarely report on western games.

And? Doesn't change the fact that they are not on their side.

Are you now triggered by me and malding like woke people do?

No. I just thought think the situation is hilarious. Here you have a weird child groomer and woman beater getting exposed, but don't you dare call the guy a he. Sorry that Ezra is mentally ill but I'm not shoehorning fake pronouns into the way i speak and write to accommodate you.

It's my gaming news site. With the added bonus of interesting/confronting/down right funny posts.
And the meltdowns!

It was.

Then 2017 happened, and then for some reason people here stopped looking for news "first" and started just copying posts from Reddit, twitter, and sometimes reset.

At some point Neogaf lost some of the insiders and no one knows where they went. occasionally gaf gets some news early, if not first, but it's not the same. I used to come here just because I knew that the first or earliest news was here.

But to add some gold to the wound Reset is usually like 24hour to 48 hours behind and they are also taking posts from Reddit or Twitter half the time, so they didn't replace pre-redesigned gaf.

I do notice Gaf is getting better and better in this though, we just need some insiders and industry guys here. Maybe have a Cboat or Creamsugar replacement for sales.

It was a couple of years ago. Some news would pop up every few hours it seemed like. So i didn't have to go to ign or any other gaming website. Now I just YouTube it but most youtubers now just talk about the most popular gaming news or their niche.
