I disagree. I heard the theme song in Smash Wii U and felt nostalgic already.
Yeah. 3D World isn't very memorable except for stuff like:
The awesome cat powerup.
The Super Mario Bros 2 crew back again for the first time since SMB2 with all of their abilities in 3D.
The amazing soundtrack.

Man. So many good memories. So many awesome things. Very diverse. Most of the game is extremely memorable.
I feel like I played a completely different game when people talk about how fun the multiplayer was. In my experience, it was nothing but a way to lose lives really fast. Went in with 50+ lives that I'd collected through single player, and we managed to get a Game Over.
Limiting "Sunshine" to a somewhat run-of-the-meal tropical Island vacation theme was probably one of the most short sighted thematic/artistic decisions that EAD ever made.
How was 'cats' a gimmick? Is the fire flower one?Now I realize why Nintendo keeps shoehorning in gimmicks like cats and motion controls into their new games: they're just solid but forgettable otherwise without a gimmick.

That's kinda funny, I played most of SMS (only 3D Mario I never 100%'d actually; blue coins can go straight to hell), beat it, but I barely remember any of the stuff you posted. That's way more memoryable for me.

I love Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS a lot.
But for 3D World it didn't hook me as much and I don't know what it was.
I'm at world 4 right now and feeling the same, does the game get better later on?Same here. I got passed the 4th world and felt like I was forcing myself to play so I just stopped. My gf not really into it either.
Man, Sunshine was just so awful.
Such an outlier in the 3D series.
Those pics recall bad memories.
Lack of compelling artistic direction and storytelling killed it for me
Awful physics, awful camera, awful glitches, some of the worst missions to ever grace a Mario title (electric ray beach, pianta throwing bullshit, exploding watermelon rolling, etc). It amazes me that people consider the Galaxy games worse than Sunshine.I'm one of the few that love Sunshine, but Jesus Christ was it a frustrating game.
I don't think i've ever raged to a game as bad as i raged with that one (except maybe pre-Black Ninja Gaiden on xbox).
3D World was a much more enjoyable experience, even when i had problems with a level.
The bizarre pedestal that Sunshine has been put on by some since the day of the 3D World announcement reeks of the Zelda Cycle.

Yeah. Even 3DLand destroys it. I did love the FLUDD less levels--a precursor to Galaxy.
But the blue coins, the lack of Shine variety, the horrible sub worlds such as Pianta Village, the Amusement Park and the Hotel, the lack of sub worlds--only seven if I remember, Yoshi being terrible.
Ugh. What a disappointment after 64.

It was more ambitious and original than most of whatever 3D World is.

Also, the soundtrack is A-grade.
So is there a way to tell which levels you've finished with all the characters? I tried finishing one with all 5 of them (Just to be safe) and nothing happened to make it pop out. How the hell would you know?
I am in the final world....Once you reach the final world, you'll be able to see icons for each level telling you who you've finished it with so far. They didn't intend for you to play through the game that way your first time through.
I am in the final world....
Unless you mean the final world is those three levels you can only get to with all the stamps, stars and flagpoles. So I guess that means you don't have to complete this in order to get there which is good... because I still have a bunch of them I have to get before I can ever play Champion's Road.
