Is Support For VITA already dying? [Use the new thread]

There are even ports for PSP and PS2, but no Vita version? Damn.

They already have an engine for those games...they will look the same....where as the ps3/360 versions willl look better with more features....i doubt the psp version will have all these announced new features.....its a quick cash in. Understandably so, i'm sure Konami right now is consentrated on trying to win back the console gamers first and foremost.

Same thing with the Euro 2012 DLC ...it is designed to work with the Fifa 12 engine..hense the PS3/360 release...where as the Vita version is based off the Fifa 11 engine (with updated graphics and menus).

I wouldn't be suprised if EA releases an Euro 2012 update for Vita Fifa after being finished with the console versions.

EA has said that their Vita version for 2013 will be a port of the 2013 engine.....they just started late with their Vita launch version.

There must be a better reason than funny internet jokes...

Well every analysts and their friends screams about portable gaming being dead. 3ds doing well must be put on the mario popularity freepass (for them). For now, there is just no proof that there is a market even existing for the Vita, and the bad sales won't help.

I, myself, am certain that there is one, till as long as samsung doesn't decide to kill everyone with a gaming phone.

Anyway, as confident and hopeful Vita owners are, it's pretty simple to see how the industry couldn't have any less trust in it for now. This is the kind of situation where big companies will have to support if for sony's beautiful eyes in the beginning.

That makes sense, but shouldn't porting the PS3 version to the Vita be fairly easy?

This doesn't make sense surely? what could be the reasoning for this?

Obviously they don't think it's worth spending money on. Pretty embarrassing that the PS2 and PSP get it but not the Vita, but it's no surprise. I love the hardware but it's tanking at retail.

Poor Vita sales, maybe? I can't really think of any other explanation.

This could be after at least one year or maybe after a first try, a fist batch of titles like a PES 2013 could really be... we're now talking about developers and publisher that neither "Jumped in" or so it seems...

Maybe they're waiting for a proper presentation during E3 I can't believe that Sony has zero support from third parties and no dialogue with them to obtain it, it would be a suicide and onestly an orrible way to act with early adopters/Vita fanbase

E3 is going to be really hard for Sony

Apparently not easy enough....time and cost wise. But its true...if the Vita was burning up the charts, they'd have more incentive to switch things up, priority wise. Which is why i don't agree with the title of this thread....sure it might not be increasing in a crazy way (dev support), but i don't think it is on the decline.....i think its just somewhere in the middle, just normal from where it started, at least for now. I'm sure we'll know come E3.

I can understand a PS2 port, western installed base is huge... but PSP port... come on... is there a market for such a game in such a console across such a market??

Sony needs to do something during E3. Even it it'll bore me out of my mind, they need to focus on the Vita during their presser. Drum up hype for upcoming titles, announce third party support and/or exclusives, announce new services etc.
A really bad omen would be their Vita montages being mostly comprised of already released games.

For the record, I don't consider the absence of PES a harbinger of the Vita's downfall. Once they cancel the CoD exclusive game/port then I'll be more inclined to agree with you.

If Sony isn't announcing/talking about the PS4 this E3 as they've asserted repeatedly, they should let the Vita have the bulk of the presser. Take some time out to discuss the God of War prequel (very telling that's not on Vita either), maybe that pretty lame looking LBP Racer, then dedicate the rest of it to Vita, Vita, Vita. Get some third party support involved, show us how the Vita version of SFxT is the only one that's not consumer raping us, and show off some exclusive titles.

Otherwise,

In japan, there is.

So konami aims to japan and collateral earnings from western localization?
That's incredible imho
Doesn't Sony discuss with publishers? Doesn't Hirai said they have a lot of TP games coming soon? Does anyone in konami trade/discuss about supporting Vita?

This is really weird

I dunno, Sony launched an EU only cheap version of the PSP less than a year ago.

But is it that unprecedented? Take Two put out their baseball game this year for the PSP but not the Vita. It likely doesn't take that much to just do a roster update (though apparently they did fix some bugs)

(While curiously, SCEA didn't put out The Show for the PSP this year, only Vita. Even though it had just been roster updates for years, kind of says a lot that they dropped support so quickly)

I don't think the lack of PES is the final nail in the coffin, but if it's a sign of things to come.. ouch. But yeah, they need to focus on Vita during their E3 presser.

PES is coming to PSP because it costs them absolutely nothing to push a roster update to last year's version and repackage it with a new logo. They're not going to rebuild their engine on a new architecture when it wouldn't be even a top-5 platform sales wise. For some franchises, Vita would make sense at this point, but not for PES.

PES2012 PSP, 13th best selling game in 2011 in Spain. And these games are free money (2008 version + updated roster).

No PES2013 Vita doesn't make much sense though.

Industry says "We're not making games until users buy console" and users say "We're not buying console until we see games"... The only reasonable thing Sony can do is making great first party titles that drive PSV sells

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 was announced to not be coming to Vita today. Its coming to PC, PS3, Wii, 360, 3DS, PSP and PS2 - and presumably iOS - but not Vita.

That is not a good sign in my opinion. PES is one of Konami's only relevant franchises nowadays and is an annual sports franchise that releases on every available console every year. Yet its not coming to Vita..

hmm come to think of it, has there been any Konami titles released on vita yet?

the hands down best game on Vita is from Konami

again - not really sure why even a quick port isn't considered worthwhile. Have to assume a lazy up-port from PSP would even surfice given how "meh" the first 3DS game is - the second is a bit better but it's still meh-ish -and- it sold extremely poorly. So i guess the work to update is minimal for a third 3DS outing but yeah... no Vita version is not a great sign.

Like you said free money.....i'm sure they are fine with the idea of Vita owners who like PES, will just buy the psp version.

I'm VERY sure that if Sony forced the issue (like they did with their MLB games)...if Sony didn't allow the psp version of PES 2013 to work with Vita, Konami would have a Vita port on the way. Same with 2K Sports and their MLB game.

Its not worth it to Konami to spend money and compete with Fifa on the Vita platform right now....and the same thing with 2k MLB trying to compete with Sony's MLB The Show. Konami and 2k are too busy trying to survive their console situations.

I don't know if the source is affordable but

Absolutely, we love publishing on the handheld systems. There are still a couple PS Vita titles we have up our sleeves that we have yet to announce, and in addition to already announcing Unchained Blades for digital release on 3DS, we are constantly evaluating more 3DS titles for publishing.

Interview to XSeed Games

He also say Sumioni coming Europe and Corpse Party sequel coming to West...

Sure, but when using these excuses/reasons, people are using language like "doesn't make sense for them" and "not worth it to Konami".

The Vita is performing so badly that it's not worth porting an annual football franchise to?

That is NOT a good sign. At all. How badly is this system tanking?

I can see why they haven't announced a vita version. Lots of PSP gamers have not crossed over and would they buy a Vita just for PES 2013 when they can play it on the PSP or 3DS instead?

Hope they release the Nintendo versions at the same time as others this year.

I'm sure this comes from a press release rather than from the PES 2013 site (which has nothing about what it's being released on in the 2013 side, but has the list of the platforms 2012 came out on if you click on the 2012 details) but if not....

can't see any details of platforms listed on the site yet for 2013, unless i'm being a blind old coot.
