Is Support For VITA already dying? [Use the new thread]

Sure, but when using these excuses/reasons, people are using language like "doesn't make sense for them" and "not worth it to Konami".

The Vita is performing so badly that it's not worth porting an annual football franchise to?

That is NOT a good sign. At all. How badly is this system tanking?

EA is released an annual soccer franchise for the Vita....and they are releasing Madden 13 for the Vita as well.

Again...for Konami its not worth if for now......like I said, which u left out, if the psp version PES 13 was not compatible with the Vita....then Konami most likely would have PS3 port ready by now. Right now I'm sure they are fine with PES fans buying the PSP version for their Vitas. Heck I was ready to buy the psp version of PES2012 for my Vita, cause i like PES buuut I'm having too much fun with a next gen version of Fifa on my Vita.

But that still doesn't show any faith in the Vita as a standalone product if they're content to stick with the PSP version.

I just don't see how the fact that there is no value in developing a Vita version of their annual sports game, can be twisted into anything other than a huge negative for the Vita. "Not worth it" is not a positive phrase to be using about Vita game development irrespective of development on older hardware.

Probably the Little King's Story remake.

As for PES-gate, 3DS was similarly left off the initial announcement's platform list for PES2012 and it still got a late port anyway. Then again 3DS already had a launch version of PES2011 to build from, while PES was conspiciously absent from Vita's launch in any form, so who really knows what's going on.

I wonder what platforms Power Pro's going to shift to this year?

Industry says "We're not making games until users buy console" and users say "We're not buying console until we see games"... The only reasonable thing Sony can do is making great first party titles that drive PSV sells

It's like the 3DS all over again....
If things go the same route, we'll start seeing Vita games delayed.

I literally had to ask for PES2012 here - it was such a muted release for what should be a banner title. No wonder it fared poorly in the sales dept.

Damn dude that looks freaking amazing!

Plays a really fun game of baseball - i've not touched much MLB Vita because of this, can't stop playing the damned thing.

Yeah konami treated the 3DS version like shit last year. Gotta release it same time as the others for once.

Taking the Wii approach to promotion and timing certainly did them no favors. It's really a wasted opportunity given the launch game sold a respectable 100k.

This game bombed pretty hard too. Sold about as well as the 3DS version last year, which was so bad they didn't bother with a 3DS version this year.

If the 3DS version supported custom files I would buy it. Not sure why it doesn't given that the 3DS uses standard SD cards? I really enjoyed the 3DS version of PES11 but the lack of licenses annoys me way more than it should.

Those crowds put my MLB Vita to shame :(

I don't mind owning more than one sport game....will i be able to put in the physical game into my Vita and have it work? While still being able to quickly switch back to my Digitally Downloaded U.S games?

Japanese Vita games are pretty awesome.

If you get it as a physical game you won't have any trouble playing it, Vita is region free.

If you manage to get it digitally, it's a bit of a hassle to move back and fourth. You'll have to restore, which deletes all your near data and recent activities. If you care about those.

Its Konami dude, they've done the math. The fact that they aren't bringing it to Vita is just as negative about the state of PES as a franchise as it is about the Vita. EA sees a market for FIFA on the handheld, but Konami isn't willing to compete with the guys who've been eating their lunch the last several years.

By the simple mathematics of it Konami knows that:
1. they're already losing out to FIFA worldwide.
2. The Vita is the only system where they can double dip with zero extra effort, via a PSP release.
3. Konami as a company doesn't really have the assets to throw behind yet another version of the franchise that would only be viable to a small user base that already has FIFA in their hands, and an alternative path to get a PES title on the system if they're real die hards.

Does it suck for PES fans? Sure. But it says nothing particularly negative about the Vita or Konami's view of it. When/if they cancel the MGS or ZOE collection ports to Vita we'll have something different to talk about. This is just Konami trying to pick and choose how to most effectively spend money in the losing battle versus EA's extremely well funded juggernaut.

It's strange considering how well FIFA Football did on Vita in Europe. Ah well, they're letting FIFA win over all the potential players on the Vita, especially with FIFA 13 being linked with ps3 version.

This argument might hold water had Konami not just ported a Japan only PS3 Baseball game to Vita and been met with sub-20k sales. The idea that Konami's decision to forego PES Vita has everything to do with their competition vs EA and a sudden lack resources (that somehow didn't impact PBS last month) rather than the very dismal market realities the platform faces strikes me as a pretty reaching spin. I mean surely the platform factors here? And it's doubly brow-raising given PES has historically gotten preferential treatment on PS platforms too.

That said I think all this drama is for naught anyway. Vita will most likely get an unceremoniously late PES2012 port imo.

Not sure if that holds much water, to be honest. PES has never competed with FIFA sales wise even when it was good, on any platform, and has been destroyed year on year across the board by FIFA during this generation.

Not just that, but Konami have had no problem supporting the 3DS with a bespoke version of the game. PES11 sold incredibly modestly on 3DS at launch but Konami still green-lit PES12, to go up against a FIFA game, after modest sales of their last game, on a system that will still selling badly when that decision will have been made. And after equally underwhelming sales of PES12 on 3DS, they've just announced they're doing another one. Which will probably go against FIFA in another market once again.

Just seems like excuses to me. We hear all this about how easy the Vita is to port to and yet its ignored even for games like this, where its literally the ONLY system people still play that isn't getting the game. Even an up-rezzed PS2, 3DS or PSP port would be suffecient, in my opinion. Better gameplay than the console versions (still) and the Vita screen would do it plenty of favours.

Its not like Konami is afraid of producing different versions of the game, either. If you take into account HD graphics, pointer controls, previous gen visuals, 3D and touch screen controls, Konami produce five different versions of the game year on year, with many different graphics and gameplay standards between them. And not all of them sell huge amounts on the platforms they're on.

The fact they're not even bothering with a low effort, low risk port doesn't look good to me. Be interesting to see whether or not this becomes a trend. Right now it certainly doesn't help stop speculation about third party support on Vita.

any new good news for the Vita yet?

at least LBP for vita is around the corner, right? :o

Well E3 is around the corner so they arent going to drop too much but so far

Soul sacrifice, Sly 4 coming to the vita same day, rumors of LBP karting and Playstation all stars coming .

Sony also announced that it will hold another playstation vita heaven even in japan in june.

Resistance burning skies comes out on may 29th and Gravity daze on june 12th

no PES Vita does not make sense.
The port would not be too difficult and these games have generally done well on Sony systems.

No PES on Vita is a BAD BAD sign if true. Annual sports games are the last games you would expect to lose on a Sony system (ie PS2 version)

Actually both gravity rush AND metal gear solid HD collection come out the 12th.

For the sport peoples, just checked and Madden NFL 13 Vita has a release date of August 28, 2012

Making great first party games just results in third parties giving up and saying they can't compete, just ask Nintendo.

And the biggest selling franchize on xbox360 and Playstation3 is gears of war and GT.

It´s Halo and Uncharted.

Nah, it's Call of Duty on both.
.
Uncharted doesnt sell more then GT

Uncharted 1-2-3 sold more than GT5P and GT5. So it´s apt.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's quite good? And don't forget Fifa 13 (big in Europe)
I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's far from the "Vita has no game and it's already dead" that we are seeing often here.

The voices that Vita has no games started two weeks after Sony released console with 22 start games so it's not really worth paying attention to them.

In fact there's a shitload to play in next few months:

Resisance, Gravity, LBP, Persona, Ragnarok, Soul Sacrafice (assuming it gets WW 2012 release)

The release slate for Vita is meager at best. Hopefully that will change in the near future, but as of right now, the Vita has very little upcoming. Shit ain't looking good.

There really isn't a 'shitload'. There's a 'barely sufficient quantity'.

The real problem is what comes after this summer. I mean, it seems that there's no releases after E3. Might be that what's new is going to be shown between June and September (E3 - GC - TGS)? I hope so because we now have something (very good) to wait for but the future is not so bright...

While Sly 4 is nice for Vita owners, I don't see how being the graphically inferior version (30 FPS) with a same day release on a console with 25x the install base will move units.

This, how can a downscaled port make a new portable a success?
Thing needs more, much more and HD ports aren't the way to success.
Vita needs a face, own strong IP and a future.

Just a note, but I don't see how Sly can be considered a port if it's released day and date. Is the PS3 version of Mass Effect 3 a port?
