is 3D still a selling point of the 3DS? I dont know anyone who owns one that has the slider anywhere but off.
I can't believe people are finding it so difficult to accept a $250 price tag for such an incredible piece of hardware with a great library out of the gate.thats a start, now drop it to 199
To be fair when they announced the pricing for the Vita, it was the same price as the 3DS, and i'm actually pretty curious as to what things would have looked like if Nintendo had decided to not bite the bullet and hold on the original price.
You don't consider it a real possibility that a platform as limited and expensive as the Vita was a mistake in reading the market?I can't believe people are finding it so difficult to accept a $250 price tag for such an incredible piece of hardware with a great library out of the gate.
The only misstep they've made was failing to include internal storage out of the box. The system itself should have offered at least 4gb of built-in flash memory.

Many people have low expectation of portable console experience, so they will have a low price expectation. Both 3DS and Vita are under this perception.
To maintain a higher price, Sony will need to demonstrate an exclusive experience and value. They should also define and market a new type/genre of games together with the bread and butter ones.
The other thing is Vita looks like thesame old PSP but with improved performance. It's hard to understand and appreciate Vita without owning one. So a new and obvious experience will help sell it.

Most people I talked (casual and moderate gamers) know what it can do and has but don't want to invest 250 for a product of which they don't know if they will be able to use it for many hours. The other thing is Vita looks like thesame old PSP but with improved performance. $250 is expensive when the 3DS (the PSV's direct competitor) is regularly going on sale for $150 or less.

This makes me believe that price ánd software is key, it also needs a memory card included. Everybody I talked to thought that you got the storage with the device itself.
To be fair it seems like both Nintendo AND Sony grossly misread the market this time around. Nintendo utilized its flexibility to adjust almost immediately, however it remains to be seen what Sony will do about this.
I use the 3D when I can.
It does get annoying when it goes out of focus and you see doubles if you slightly wiggle or move your head though.
I'm not sure if many people (gamers at least) are actually buying a 3DS for the 3D anymore.
Well, Ninty has the advantage of being in the market, entrenching themselves as the de facto dedicated handheld (again!) and, after a very large price adjustment, is less expensive and has the biggest handheld IPs exclusively.
I'm sorry, but lacking any content that interests me, a dedicated gaming device needs to have significantly greater horsepower than some generic internet diddling device (iPad 3) before I consider it a worthwhile and promising purchase. The next iPad will far outclass the Vita in all of the few ways it doesn't already, and that will be less than a year from now. Have fun with your Vita.
The Vita will exceed any other tablet in graphics performance for many years, the OS and hardware is specifically made to do that best.

Developers have direct access to the Vita hardware, however, unlike iPad. It will take some time for iPad games to completely match what can be done on the Vita even with more powerful hardware. Very few games actually exploit the power of the device with most of them running at poor framerates with very simplistic visuals.I'm sorry, but lacking any content that interests me, a dedicated gaming device needs to have significantly greater horsepower than some generic internet diddling device (iPad 3) before I consider it a worthwhile and promising purchase. But you cannot compare a sale price in one product with a official price in another product. If you count the cheaper possible price of a 3DS you have to do the same with Vita.
You'd be a fool to think that the Vita will outperform next year's iPad.

I don't know about everybody else, but I don't play without 3D unless it is Kid Icarus (without stand) or Revelations (gyro aiming). Too me 3D adds a lot to the system. BTW, when was Wal-Mart selling a $119 3DS? That's a crazy good deal.
Also, I'm getting a Vita tomorrow. I have Uncharted, Rayman, and Gravity Rush on my radar. Outside of that..... hopefully E3 brings us some Vita goodness.
what does it matter when you can count on one hand the games that actually use the graphics power of the device? there's a reason why consoles have a fixed hardware spec
That's for the 3G model, which they discounted by around 20 bucks but it costs around 50 dollars more so its only around 30 dollars more.
If you don't want 3G then it is no bargain at all.
You can also count on one hand the games for the VITA actually worth playing so far.
two hands if I am feeling generous

I just bought my son a 3DS for $99 as well, but I got my Vita for $50 via the FS trade-in deal so it wasn't that expensive even considering the memory card.$250 is expensive when the 3DS (the PSV's direct competitor) is regularly going on sale for $150 or less. I just recently bought my second one for $99 ($119 sale at Wal-Mart + $20 Mail-in Rebate).
The PSV + memory card + accessories ended up costing me something like $450. That's not a small amount.
Great library depends on your opinion. For me the library is very weak.

But I can pop the tons of great DS cartridges into my 3DS. I can't pop any of the tons of UMD's that I have into a Vita.I could make that exact same statement about the 3DS as of today. It's all relative, so statements like that mean nothing.

DS games look like shit on the 3DS, though, so I stick with my DS Lite for those titles as well.
Yeah, I'll buy a Vita when I get a memory card included.

Spin what? How is this any better than a logo, much less all the representation GT4mobile had (media, mockups, developers, release year, etc)?
Hahaha are you serious? Ken Levine coming out with a Vita saying "Bioshock is coming to this" is equivalent to showing off a logo?
