A certain writer imagined that Mystique was actually a dude while doing his run on the series. Not sure if that pic is a sly reference to that or not.
Tell me you're joking.

Hmmm this thread has grown.

So what is the consensus now? Is Sentry the cheapest? He seems to be the most powerful in the Marvel universe.

Then again thinking about it, Hope Summers is pretty cheap with the ability to mimic the powers of just about any other mutant.

I'd say the only thing cheap about Hulk is his regenerative abilities. It's just as good as Wolverine's.

I think the only consensus is that almost every hero except Spiderman has been cheap at some point

No, Mystique was originally going to be Nightcrawler's father and Destiny his mother. But editors nixed it.

Like how wolverine's original origin had him as a wolverine uplifted into a human.

And Mr. Sinister was suppose to be a mutant kid stuck in a 10 year old's body. His Mr. Sinister form being what a 10 year would imagine a supervillain to be like.

At least those ideas got nipped in the bud.

I'd honestly take this over what they actually did with the whole "Who is Nightcrawler's father?".

The Azazel thing makes no sense.

I love this thread so much. I hope it never ends.

My memory is fuzzy, but couldn't he fuck you up by messing with the iron in your blood?
Yes. Which is exhibit A or B on "why comics writers need to take some science courses." Iron bound in blood isn't magnetic.

Cosmic Spider-man was basically a Green Lantern Spider-man except with webs instead of willpower

and he killed Tri-Sentinel. Big deal. :p

Yeah it is not cannon though.

Silver Age superman could just make up powers on the fly, he is the cheapest character ever.

That magneto/fantastic four cartoon made me laugh so hard.

"I fooled you Magneto....with a wooden gun!" - Reed Richards

"Whhaaat?" - Magneto

Also the cheapest charecter in comics is Flex Mentallo. Every time he moves a muscle he gets a different super power.

True but it makes the reaction kind of useless. I have already explained that the fact I don't like Thor is merely based on a feeling he does not belong with Spidey and the rest.
I have also stated there might be 'rational reasons' there is a Universe where they do belong together but that it still won't change the feeling I have.

How can that 'feeling' I have be wrong?

I'm with you on this. I've always thought that combined universes should be non-canon one-offs and not the status quo, but the Asgardian gods have always really stood out to me.

I like the nerfed Ultimate Thor who can lose to Magneto (which is as it should be; controlling the electromagnetic spectrum >>>>> being the god of thunder), and the movie version where they make the Asgardian powers to be largely based on super-advanced technology that's impossible to tell apart from magic. But when you start putting ACTUAL mythological gods and goddesses into Marvel, I just feel like the universe suffers for it. Particularly if you make that character Numero Uno among the heroes in terms of power.

I also feel like Superman has been vastly overpowered in most incarnations. TAS Superman was the best, IMO, because he was still pretty grounded (a nuclear blast would fuck him up pretty hard, etc).

Daredevil had his own show in the 90's right? I remember watching that, I think.

Nah he just cameo'd a lot.

In Spider-man which he got his ass kicked by Kingpin

In Fantastic Four, which he got beaten senseless by Doctor Doom

sounds about right

maaaaaaaan, i wish FOX would give up and give Marvel the F4 stuff back, i'd love an avengers film with doctor doom as the villain. he's too good for just F4

I don't know why everyone just posts that

There's an entire elseworlds comic where Bruce Wayne is chosen by the ring, he uses his Batman skills to stop Sinestro and more.

As a master of fear and intimidation, Batman also rejected an offer to join the Yellow Lanterns

anyways, even when he was about to lose his life in Green Lantern Rebirth, I found it hilarious that all Green Arrow could make with a Green Lantern ring was an arrow

There was a JLA story arc where the JLA were hooked up to a Matrix-like device where things happened differently. Bruce was married to Selina Kyle, Kal-El from Krypton became a Green Lantern (he uses his ring to throw Joker into the Phantom Zone!) and Kyle became some sort of evil robot man

See this is why it's lame that the yellow ring makes you "bad". Batman would be perfect for Sinestro Corps. If it wasn't Sinestro Corps...

A green lantern ring held by the goddamn Batman.

Yeah, but it's nothing compared to that bloody Superman Prime strip posted earlier

heck, most other superheroes would be far more devastating than Bats with the ring. Even Plastic Man

Puddles said:
Did Batman actually get the Green Lantern ring, or is that some fan art?
It was a one shot Elseworlds story where Batman becomes the Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan.

In canon, Batman did almost become the Yellow Lantern of sector 2814.

edit: totally beaten. :P

pretty neato.

Now imagine the most overpowered ridiculous character.

Spider-man with juggernauts power, the infinity gauntlet, the symbiote, armor made by tony stark (that merges with the symbiote), Captain America's shield, and Exodia, the forbidden one card.

did Batman figure out it was a dream when he tried to read the newspaper?

...why does Magneto just give up? He should have turned made the cops' badges fly off and stab their eyes out or something

And god damn these guys never shut up and stop explaining everything, it's like Hideo Kojima directed this

Cause the episode has to end and nobody in the writing desk knows how besides just this.

The Hulk is so strong that he can have all of reality thrown at him and still keep on coming...

Hulk has defied things that would be impossible even for Marvel comic "physics". The dude has stood against reality warping powers/magic. His physic defying body doesn't give af*** even if some overpowered mutant human energy based Magneto could control electromagnetism, Hulk already held apart matter and antimatter! Hulk is already powered by gamma radiation, one of the most powerful things in the known universe.

Normal or mutation, you're all just "Puny humans" to the HULK!

Like a boss.

Fiercest. Hurricane. In. History.

onslaughtarmorstrength2.jpg

Celestial level powers with inferiority complex to call an entire subset of humans "Homo Superior" lame-os like other mutants? LOL
Hulk, not give a damn!
