Batman consistently gets worked over by martial artists the first time they show up because he tries to have a fair fight. Even when it isn't the first time people like Lady Shiva still beat him down. Batman is one of the most inconsistent characters in comics.

Does Lady Shiva really count? Most of the time it is implied that Lady Shiva is the best pure martial artist in DC, it wasn't until Cassandra Cain that everything fell apart as how the martial artists match up.

So what's up the DCU? I remember reading about Final Crisis and how that totally redid the continuity? Use spoilers if needed.

Final Crisis is awesome but did pretty much shit to continuity. Following things of note occurred:

Spoiler

1. Batman is hit by the Omega Sanction and sent back through time
2. Barry Allen the original flash returns
3. Darkseid kinda, maybe is gone temporarily. Same with the rest of the New Gods.
4. Monitors are gone, they really have very little impact on day to day DCU anyway.

Don't let the impact it has on the DCU stop you from reading it though. If you enjoy Morrison's style of writing there is lots to love here. Plus the art for the most part is fantastic. The whole book was really a vessel for Morrison to tell a crazy story involving the entire DCU. A more branched out Seven Soldiers in a way. I personally love it and I know there are others too (Benjamin Birdie for one). My favourite part of it is Superman Beyond which works far better without the 3d which really hindered my enjoyment of Mahnke's art in the singles.

Black Panther eats special heart shaped herb salads which enhance him/her to peak human and gives him superior senses. Also has access to superior tech and knows magic.

Slightly better than Cap. He's closest to a good guy version of Doctor Doom.

Actually, I think that's what started WWH... this "prep time" sent Hulk into space and ultimately caused him to come back and beat everyone's ass.

Magneto's Daughter is/was a mutant with the power to alter reality. One day she went kind of crazy and killed a bunch of dudes. A year later, she went even crazier and decided to rewrite the world and fix everyone's problems. Except everyone decided they wanted things back the way they were and beat her up.

So in the end she was all like "I hate you guys! I hate myself! I wish I wasn't a mutant! I wish there were no mutants!"

And then there weren't.
