Killzone art looks nice, but I'd probably find it more interesting if the Helgast werent essentially future Nazis.

I know, it looks nice, but I dont really find the Helgast imagery as particuarly interesting on an iconolgical level. As I said, they're basically future Nazis from a visual perspective.

Its a no-brainer that concept art almost always looks better than the final product, since the concept art obviously isn't necessarily limited by technical and other boundaries which the game suffers from. And the art often take a hit by animation and 3d-modeling. The concept art is just a vision meant to inspire.

Sometimes I wish that not all of today's games were 3D. 3D did improve hugely on games with first person perspective, but I feel that some genres don't always benefit from it. I would like to see an old-school RPG (like Baldur's gate) or strategy with just pure sprites and 2D-graphics brought on not by technical limitations but as an artistic choice. I can still go back and play old 2D-games and be amazed at the level of detail, this is not always true for 3D-games who usually get old fast. With today's technology the level of detail possible with 2D-graphics would be unlimited.

When you want to make bad guys, better take inspiration from the best.

Apart from the visual aspect, however, there are lots of differences between the nazis and the helgast, reading killzone's backstory i'm not that sure they're the bad ones.

i agree with killzone art being very forgetable, its a bit too "cookie cutter" for me, certainly not iconic.

It sure is awesome how some games have great concept art and then come out looking photorealistic.

these concepts look so cool... And some of the games turned out to be shit comparing to what was evisinoned.
