And for the OPM part, I think that's the joke. DBZ characters are seen as OP/godlike by many people, so even Saitama couldn't defeat them with one punch.
Yeah it is. Murata's adaptation is posted on the Young JUMP website. It's not really shonen, but it is JUMP.
Either way, it's the best shot. None of their other recent action/battle mana have really stuck, look at Magico and Sensei no Bulge/BARRAGE.
Its a bit more weird and jokey. Which is fine, but weird a jokey don't get the job done outside of japan. Sure they can do very well, one peice is a prime example of a manga being hella weird doing very well, but even one peice leans more to battle manga rather than just weird. But naruto and bleach (until recently) had been reigning supreme over the worlds manga buying habits. Sexy teens/young adults and distress, that's what gets the people reading, well that and a cool set up. Like ninjas , or pirates, or grim reapers ,mobsters, not chefs.

OMG. I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS SHIT FOREVER. TORIKO IS TOTALLY BOBOBO LIKE. I actually didn't care about it... I saw that special with Dragon Ball, One Piece and Toriko and kinda warmed me up to the series... so we will see..... Ill probably wait till I can speed run 10-15 episodes then ill end up liking it or something...

Toriko isn't a chef though, all he does is hunting big monsters and look for rare ingredients. It has tons of epic/brutal fights.
It has like nothing to do with Bobobo which is an absurd gag manga.
These characters all need to be in the game.

Bleach volume sales are good but the series has consistently been in the bottom five releases every week for a couple of years in Jump. Once in a while it makes it to the top five but that is actually only because an end is in sight.

after how bad HxH became and lost everything good about it (after the disaster that was the ant arc and the Chairman Election arc) I hope they forget about HxH completely or reboot it with a new mangaka.
Unfortunately no. It does have decent sales but they want it to become the new Bleach/Naruto/One Piece and it does not work.
That's pretty sad since it's really good.
It often gets high rankings in the magazine but it doesn't translate into sales

There better be some Gintama en JoJo in there.
They killed Barrage with no reason and that manga was good and have potential.
they won't get a new Naruto or OP this way,instead of pushing below average manga like Toriko they need to learn to how fix the issues of their mangas instead of just killing them.
They killed Barrage because it was in the bottom 3 for weeks. If readers don't like it there's no point.
Given that Vita version of Pirate Warriors 2 was pretty decent, I have some hope for Vita version of this game as well.

Kuropika and Hisoka are the only Hunter X Hunter characters I'd want, they are the best.

I think it's more of Toei convincing Jump to push Toriko.
Dragonball, One piece and Toriko are all animated by Toei.

It could be both. I remember hearing Shueisha saying they were worried about what would happen after One Piece ends.
But the design of everything lends its self to the more jokey side of thing, while i love the guys design. He looks like kenshiro and goku had a baby with blue hair. His design is well.. jokey. The characters designs and the world they live in , and the context of chefs ( and yes its there whether toriko is a chef directly or not.) while is a cool concept. Isn't going to get the masses.
Not saying badassed chefs wouldn't be a cool idea, its just the aesthetic package its wrapped up in.

This was pretty much my reaction....I have no attachment to any of these characters, but Ultimate Ninja Storm made my head turn and Im going to pick it up on the cheap one of these days just because its artstyle is so stunning (Ive had a few friends who HATE anime get into playing it because its just so god damn jaw dropping)
so in conclusion...CC2 need to make more anime games and Japanese devs have a hell of a lot of catching up to do (see whatever ever game this thread is talking about)
