Capcom doesn't want things sold to kids probably because idiots like Jack Thompson use it as a talking point for destroying the industry.

I think Jack's just figured out a way to make some money. Stand outside the corporate office all day yelling "You suck!" and eventually the company will buy your silence. You can even tell he barely takes himself seriously with the tone he uses in his written correspondence.

JT was found dead this morning after what initially appeared to be an industrial accident. As paramedics arrived at the scene, the only visible part of JT's body was his right arm, holding a note. The rest of his body was hidden underneath approximately 6,000 Windows Vista boxes - signature edition. Police have yet to determine a cause of death but foul play is suspected. They believe this is so because of the note that JT was holding. It said:

Since the note was written in code and JT was known to have a diminished mental capacity, police have yet to determine who the note was addressed to. Reporter's asked the lead investigator if they thought the Windows Vista boxes had anything to do with the potential killer. He responded: "Vista boxes are pretty common in the wild. It is typical to for stores to have thousands of Vista boxes on display in stores due to their exceptional ability to not sell." Investigation is ongoing.

I love how he thinks hes clever by using the term "training" in place of "playing".
Training implies practicing in an environment that will best simulate the experience. To say you trained as a sniper in Halo is laughable and ludicrous, I don't care how many times you've pushed a crosshair around a screen with a mouse, controller, trackball, whatever, it won't prepare you for firing a high powered bolt-action rifle. Let alone, cleaning and reloading the weapon, working with a spotter, leading your target based on environmental conditions, etc. Not to mention the emotional impact of blowing a person near in half and realizing it's nowhere near the same as someone else's player model doing the rag-doll tussle across a map.
Now, having an ex-military marksman by your side.. -that's- training.
Also, if Thompson was truly trying to fix the issue of kids playing violent games, he would explicitly be going after the ESRB repeatedly and working with them to ensure they created a system that would prevent the vast majority of underage kids from getting their hands on games like Manhunt or Postal.
Jack likes to spread himself around, chase a few ambulances or pop-up when a headlining much anticipated title shows up just so he can get more coverage and ultimately apply it to his earnings. The guy's a show boater, he may as well have a hat laid down on the desk for tips when he's in court.
Ironically, what he does isn't too far from what Rockstar likes to do with its titles; piggy back on other people's meda for free coverage.

Really though being from the UK I don't get most of this. Here if you're not old enough to buy the game then you can't have it unless an adult buys it. That's how it should be in my opinion.

He just surrounds a good idea with crazy talk. I'm not sure why he thinks MS should be responsible for policing retailers, or even how they would go about doing that. People have already covered the Halo being "hyperviolent" and sniper training parts which are stretching things pretty far.
