Jade Raymond's Assassin's Creed: Teaser trailer

Don't know if this has been discussed, but has the following 'flash' at the end of the trailer been deciphered? Any chemists in here?

That's the chemical equation for failure...or success

it has been so long...

who's that guy?
i dont get it.
thats right, im the one french canadian who dont know shit about hockey.

and man that was nothing, i could write a book.

Shane Doan. The guy who allegedly "said something to a French player" and the Canadian government made a hissy fit over it longer after the situation has passed just because he'd been made captain for the World Championships.

Which he led us to victory at <3

Well, I remember the 'rumor' about (possible spoiler?)
some interview last year, talking about how the game/story was supposed to be just like an experiement, inside the mind of someone. Like what would happen if your mind was transfered to the mind of an assassin from that time and if you could change events and the fate of other people?? Or something like that......Kinda like The Matrix...

i think i just gave a spoiler well i edited it how do you hide your words?

Is the whole game in slow motion?

I guess I wasn't really feeling it much. I thought the earlier stuff seemed more fun. It's been in development for quite a while, and I still have no idea what is really going on.

Is this going to be playable at the event?
Couldn't have said it better. This is just an official YouTube fan-made trailer. Show me an actual game, Ubi.

The trailer is ****ing epic. My interest for this game has moved from "will probably buy during holiday season" to "#1 most anticipated game this year."

Hype +1000%

All I can make out at this point in the night is that is a complex array of simple gasses (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, etc) held together by single/double, and possibly covalent, bonds.

Hopefully we have some real chemists in here who can come in tomorrow and figure this out!

I agree with RandomVince. They look like amino acids.

Why'd they show this trailer? Here's why:

I thought I read somewhere last year (here on the forum?) that the plot involves the concept of genetic memories? So, I guess, find a direct descendant of someone who was there at Jerusalem/Acre/etc. during that time period and, with some help through manipulation of the proteins that govern memory, you'll go back in time or some such craziness. I dunno. Weird shit.

That footage is amazing if it's not prerendered. Poor song choice for the trailer though, didn't go together well IMO.

Also, the Assassin's Creed limited edition should come with a Jade Raymond poster.

the footage was great..but alot of the reactions to this trailer were a little overblown IMO, I was expecting some epic stuff, instead it felt kinda cheesy to be honest. My anticipation for this game has always been high, ever since they announced who was making it.

Didn't like the trailer, slowly losing interest in the game, it's been too long in development for a teaser trailer like that, it looks too contrived, animations look robotic, and doesn't seem to have the freedom of movement I though it may have when I saw the Teaser trailer last year!

Yeah I'm grumpy and cynical this morning.

I really couldn't stand that AC preview the song was f-cking ridiculous for a game like that. It would be like seeing a preview to some Assassin Movie and that stupid emo crap would come on.............. WTF? It reminds me of that horrible Gears of War "mad house" commercial that was deemed the best piece of video game cinema by some site or mag. I forget but there was a thread here for it :/
Bah! This was a great trailer song and the GOW "Mad House" ad ruled precisely because of the contrast of music and content.

As for the visuals -- I'm pretty impressed. The direct feed trailer showed some interesting stuff in the fights I hadn't seen before... couldn't even see it in the handheld camera version of the trailer. I just hope it's more responsive feeling than the POP games.

I'm not to certain on the chronological rise of Jade Raymond, but I think it went something like this:

Co-Host of Video Game Show -> Producer of Assasin's Creed.

Yup, seems like a logical progression to me.

wasn't that CliffyB's path as well?

Hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen are only gases when covalently bonded to themselves. A solid line between two single atoms indicates a covalent bond, two indicate a double bond. So this is a covalent molecule consisting of only H, O, N and C molecules - which is why people are thinking amino acid.

But this is bigger than any existing amino acid. I suppose it could be a peptide chain, but... well it doesn't really look like one, and obviously it's a few million times to small for a protein.

Could just be some randomly occuring hydrocarbon. Could just be random hocus pocus to look good.

Could even be a drug actually, looks a bit like one.

It is some sort of medicine.

Also I think the diagram is slightly wrong as e.g. oxygen can only bond twice but some oxygens on the diagram are bonding 4 times.

Maybe they are showing intermolecular forces as lines aswell?

Edit: they definitely are. theres no other way any Hydrogen molecule could have 3 lines otherwise.

looks similar to cellulose or a sugar to me. not sure what's going on with the oxygen bonds though, and cellulose doesn't have nitrogen atoms in it.

cellulose (and sugars) are a natural polymer that tends to be found in wood. it likely isn't a drug as polymers almost never are (and this sure looks like a polymer)... and you'll notice that this isn't a picture of the complete compound as bonds go off both the left and the right of the screen.

here's a picture of cellulose

http://www.doitpoms.ac.uk/tlplib/wood/figures/cellulose.png

it ISN'T dna or any other nucliac acid. nor is it cellulose, but it's similar in structure.

Lol, wow, I didn't even notice. A hydrogen with a valency of 3... right...

You never indicate van der Waals on this type of diagram, and hydrogen bonds are dotted lines, so I'm guessing this is just a load of random letters and lines designed to look good.

Like the charecters that scroll down on the matrix - they don't mean shizzle.

No, she has had other positions in the game industry. Programmer for Sony, producer at EA. I think she also worked for There Inc.

Pretty much how I feel about it too. It's time to shit our get off the pot, Ms. Raymond.

alright.
but ill have to be careful as to not border on libel.

basicly, i know a couple of guys who used to work under her on assassins a couple of years ago (keep in mind that they started this project right after sands of time, same core team, etc etc).

just before i got fired from UBI, i was trying to change team and go do some level design on assassins as i though the game mechanics would let me have some fun, moreso than a kids game based on a CG movie. i interviewed with lead level designer, great kind, kindcrazy looking. i had a tattoo of sands of time's logo in his forearm. so did most team leads on that project, apparently. anyway, that never happened since..i got fired.

but basicly, what i was told is that Jade is a bit of a crazy B.
from what i hear, the project has been troubled for some time, lacking direction, substance and actual gameplay. they just had this guy climbing walls and swinging his sword and that was about it.

when i was applying for it, the game looked extremely promising. i was WAY excited about it. but then apparently, things started going sour.
so i guess Jade was under a LOT of pressure, assassins being UBI's bigmagecrazy nextgen flagship title and all that. it had an extremely long production AND pre-production period for a game at ubi, and it HAD to be good, and it seems it wasnt. what i was told is that she'd often take out on the team, in team-wide emails, all in caps, in bold and large type. she would "scream" at the lowly floor workers about how behind the schedule they were or whatever. etc etc. just generaly being angry and a bitch. which really isnt a behavior you want to see in your producer.

basicly what i was told is that she's extremely unpleasant to work with,
and given what i know now, i am happy i didnt work under her.
who knows if any of this is true.

i just plain dont like producers.
and Jade gets by by her looks, and i dont like that either.
so i dont like Jade.

somebody at marketting or whatever had the brilliant idea of making her the face of the game. and since then you cant have a thread about women in games without having it degenerate into a jade raymond wankapalooza. and i dont like that. she's the posterchild of women in games prettyyyy much because she looks good. you never hear about Heather Kelley, Robyn Hunicke, Brenda Brathwaite, Marie Flannagan, Erin Hoffman or Margaret Robertson. all women who actually create stuff. hell, Jane Pinckard too. and that ****ing pisses me off

also, did you know, she's half-asian.
Jade i mean, not jane. altho she is too.
ugh.

end rant.

"also, did you know, she's half-asian.
Jade i mean, not jane. altho she is too.
ugh."

No, phil, I didn't know that. :)

agreed, if they added intermolecular forces we'd have a crazy diagram with lines all over the place.

Was anticipating this as a Hitman meets Prince of Persia thing... but that trailer was pretty boring. Bad music choice, too, tbh - not fitting at all.

Still looking forward to the game very much, but anticipation -1.

That chemical structure is a collection of nitrogenous bases (or nucleobases, ex. adenine, guanine, thymine, uracil, ctyosine) bonded together, some of them oxygenated. Nucleobases are the backbone of nucleotide sequences, which of course make up genetic material. The game is reported to be pursuing the idea that genetics may be able to hold memory, so I assume the formula has something to do with that concept. My two cents.

Nice to see some DJ Shadow love in that trailer.

There's no secret to livin'. Just keep on walkin'. there's no secret to dyin'. Just keep on fly-i-i-i-i-n'.

EDIT: Totally inappropriate for the trailer though.

Problem is, for me, is that a lot of producers see themselves as the boss of the team they are assigned to. This happens in games, tv and film. As an artist, when you've spent 12 years honing your profession it's really hard to take that seriously when their qualifications are extremely basic.

Many places I've worked at, the steps to becoming a producer has been to start as a receptionist, get promoted to manager of receptionists, get promoted to line-producer then get promoted to producer. Then they are all of the sudden your boss, this takes 2-3 years. Becoming a lead 3D supervisor, lead artist or even a senior artists takes a at least a good 5 years (7-10 years often for 3D supervisors depending on what field you are in) unless you're in the right spot at the right time.

Looks often play a role in it, which makes it even harder to respect as an artist/programmer. Of course the producers feel this stigma, and then feels the need to prove themselves. This can manifest in many ways depending on the personality, but sometimes it can come out like how you described Jade (though I don't know that particular instance).

Taking it out on the team, forcing overtime etc. is a piss poor way to go and shows really bad character.

(I dont know Jade though so for all I know she could be doing a fantastic job, I am only going by phil's hearsay and relating to own experiences).

Producers keep track of projects, deal with clients (as an instrument for the supervisor or director) but most importantly just to make sure that the director/supervisors don't go crazy with time/budget. They are not the programmers or artists bosses. They make sure things go smoothly and that schedule is maintained. That's it. They are not an authority.

The man on the right is Pipomantis. So it's me. Just to say that in a few days, Gamersyde will have some info about AC, but I already said too much.

Needless to say that the person next to me is Cliffy B.

DAMN: Jade is gorgeous in that HD interview.

Anyway, I like how she described the control scheme. The only insecurity that I had is now fixed. I'm psyched.
