A government official who preferred not to be identified said that through the nation's long-range early warning radar, the government learned of North Korea launching its Unha-3 rocket at 9:49 a.m. on Wednesday, the real time of the launch. Japan got the launch information at 9:51 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense also confirmed that Taiwan cooperated with the U.S. to establish the long-range pre-warning radar system, and is in a position to receive real-time launch information for any aircraft or missiles.
