Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
ROK army is designed for fighting a land war against North Korea, not a maritime war with Japan. Japan has a superior navy and larger airforce so in this (admittedly unrealistic) conflict the sheer paper size of the Korean armed forces isn't meaningful.

JSDF Martime Forces:

45,800 personnel. 69 ships.

ROK Navy:

68,000 personnel. 170 ships.

Plus, 27,700 personnel in the ROKMC.

JSDF Airforce:

45,000 Personnel

424 Combat aircraft

ROK Airforce:

65,000 personnel

487 Combat Aircraft

LOL

Sad thing is, this is probably the argument the real world weeaboos would use.

It's about as intelligent as someone's belief that a military conflict is actually possible or worth having over Dokdo.

There is always a way. So many countries around the world went to war over something that is lesser trivial compared to what both SK and Japan are bitching about at the moment.

Anything can happen, but based on what evidence? A shitty, borderline porn magazine interview?

Going by numbers there really isn't much difference when it comes to air forces and maritime forces between these two countries.

Based on recent events and both of these nations nationalism and history of antagonism?

I'm telling you, if US wasn't in the East Asia, there would've already been multiple wars between these two nations.

There is nothing to win for either country in this case. While nationalism is fine and live in both countries it no longer rule them. Economics is what matters. Not to mention both countries have around 30000 US personel stationed there and I really doubt US would allow any kind of saber rattling there.

Anything is possible.

How convincing.

There will always be a few belligerent agitators on both sides but the true political and economic powers in both countries will force restraint. I'd love to hear why you think otherwise. None of the recent events suggest armed conflict to me.

By the way, I'm actually interested in having this discussion so apologies if I'm being too antagonistic.

I'm telling you, if US wasn't in the East Asia, there would've already been multiple wars between these two nations.

That's not an argument for a Dokdo conflict unless the United States is soon retreating from Asia.

If South Korea and Japan went to war, you KNOW North Korea would jump in. Asked to or not.

I like counting fast attack craft as naval ships as if they are a frigate too.

Japan has 318 combat fighters vs 246 modern combat fighters (no I don't count F5's they're from the 50s)

Though some of the Japanese destroyers ought to be frigates.

Anyways you seem in the tank for Korea.

On whose side though? Or against everyone???

North Korea wants one Korean people.

Smashing Japan.

Anyways you seem in the tank for Korea.

Maybe because I'm Korean, Emperor.

This actually make me think. No way weeaboos or koreaboos would be so deluded as to actually try to go their and fight for onse side of the other right?

There's that Korean temper.

That's not even a temper.

I mean, I would need to make some weird ad hominem attacks or something.

But, thinking about it more, weeaboos would porbably beat up koreaboos.

Maybe this is how the conflict should be settled.

Weeaboos vs. Koreaboos.

If they go to war all the men will be away and there will be waifu's for everyone!

You know, this works. When I went to Korea when I was 20. Not alot of Korea dudes around my age since they were all in the army.

Dude, being forced to join the military at 18 would have sucked so bad. I'm so glad I wasn't 18 during the 40's - early 70's. It wasn't peace time military, either.

He's got the Japanese side, I got the Korean side down. We all chill?

Can you be fat and have swag in Korea? Because in Japan, unless you are a Sumo wrestler or a thugged-out gangster, it ain't happening for ya.

Easy, the government sends half our troops to South Korea and the other half to Japan.
Have them fight each other and make record profits from weapons and body bag manufacturing.

I got it! South US takes one side, North US takes another. We get rid of two lingering tension problems from wars long past at once!

He's rich. That's enough swag.

They stayed away from conflict where both of her allied nations are fighting.

Example such as when Greece and Turkey both went to armed conflict over Cyprus, US stayed clearly out of the way.

Greece and Turkey do not represent the same kind of economic power that Korea/Japan represents. Nor are they as important of trading partners.

The days of "first world" nations going to war is about over. Unless there is some kind of global depression/economic collapse of historic proportions.

Fair enough.

BTW, if I didn't know any better, I'd say "Gangnam Style" was just a carbon copy of LMFAO 2 years too late. But what do I know. That guy could have been making music like that for years in Korea.

Nah, Psy was like that before. He's my age. I think he went to Berklee.

Started in early 2000's I think.

He's been around, I'm sure... but I'm also sure his music didn't sound like that. Just like how we are getting artists who have been around forever in the US who are WUB WUB WUB'n it.

I was referring more to his fashion style. Funny thing about PSY. He's been conscripted multiple times.

So back in 2003, when he was 26. He qualified for special exemption for military service. Meaning he would do his two years, but in a non-active duty role. Lots of celebrities get this. It's basically working a desk job.

So in 2005, when he does he 36 months or so. Its get out that he didn't really do itma dn what he did sucked. So back to the army with him. He tried to fight it in court (silly rabbit) and then in 2007 he went back to active duty service. You can tell because he lost weight.

I remember being enthusiastically told about a popular korean novel that ended with mugunghwa flowers--the national flower of South Korea--'blossoming' all over Japan.

By blossoming they meant mushroom clouds from nuclear weapons.

That stupid flower.

If Japan hasn't insisted on trying to kill every dang mugunhwa plant when they occupied Korea, They could have save the agressive use of that flower as a symbol and as a stupid metaphor.

But, I guess that's why Korea is the way they are. You get upset when such an intense effort is made to eradicate your culture.

Even if there were a battle over the Liancourt Rocks, it would hardly be a blip on that chart.

It'd be a smaller battle than the one over the Paracel Islands between Vietnam and China:

Or the battle over the Johnson South Reef:

I don't see the problem here, all they have to do to get in is chant "Dokdo is Korean Land" three times.

Heck, I wake up saying that.

I saw "magazine" and I automatically discredited it.

Magazines never break interesting news anymore.

Japan news media is blowing up over Takeshima... over this shitty fucking island with no significant resources.

Us is definitely the stabilizing force in the region. Here is something I thought was funny that I posted in another related thread:

"What would happen if you stubbed your toe this morning?"

"I would attack Japan".
