Joe Rogan Podcast with Steven Crowder

Yeah I don't know... After looking at his facebook page (Crowder's)... it's tough for me to justify giving that guy a big platform.
At least with a debater of Rogan's caliber.
This conversation needs someone smarter to just destroy that guy and move on.

I don't like listening to podcasts like Rogan's or Corollas when politics or science are involved, because they're so wrong every time it's frustrating. Just factually incorrect, with appeals to emotion left right and center. I realize they're comedians, but comedians tend to be smart. Not these guys.

Dude if you ever listen to any comedians podcast they are all dumb as fuck lol.

I was down with his podcast before the election. Sure he said some stupid shit and had some nonsense conspiracy theory views. On MMA or anything comedy related he was very enjoyable. I could tolerate his macho and anti PC shit. Once the election started and he just started eating up every little piece of nonsense about Hillary and the Clinton Foundation I was out. He is just too stupid and demonstrates just how easy the masses can be manipulated. He has been pandering to that audience ever since. He used to be independent with a this me take it or leave it attitude. Now he is a lickspittle to the stupid.

I remember open minded funny Joe Rogan. He knew he was saying crazy shit, but you could tell he wasn't even buying what he was shoveling... now... he has his head way too far up his own ass.

Good for him going after this guy, but seriously... what was he expecting? This is a good example of what engaging with these crazy fringe people results in and it isn't a substantive conversation about issues.

Do you think he switched, or you did?

I still think he's open minded and funny

Pretty incredible that a guy whose only discernible talent is getting people to eat bugs managed to get himself such a large following.

His only talent? A quick Google search would have stopped you from making such an unnecessary shitpost. Rogan was an actor and regular cast member on NewsRadio, holds black belts in TKD, BJJ, Judo + some state/US champion awards, and has been a rather good UFC commentator for ages (much better than the others UFC has had).

How can he be left leaning when he hates welfare? You Americans have a very distorted definition for what is the left.

Considering i seen some people consider Piers leftist because of view on guns when he is considered right on Britain kinda shows that. From what i heard it could be due that America is on the right of some European countries so their left is closer to the centre and some right than the European left. I heard Merkel who is considered right will be left in america but i have to do research on that but wouldn't be surprised

The fact that he even had this dumbfuck on his show is embarrassing. What exactly are we defending Rogan for here, bravery?

I don't understand the mentality behind not having people on a podcast because of their political beliefs.

Why would you have someone you agree with on everything? So you can sit there and high five for four hours?

Surrounding yourself with people with views that differ from you is an effective way to become more understanding and educated.

Piers Morgan is a populist but his political leanings are closer to centre left in british terms. He's typically a labour supporter and edited the Mirror, the biggest left leaning tabloid.

However he's also an attention seeking, starfucking dog nonce so he'll say anything to anyone about anything.

Good to know

I worded my characterization incorrectly with the first part of my post. I feel like Rogan has started to take on crazier and crazier guests and has taken the views of those guests too seriously. No doubt that is the appeal of his show for guests because they have a space to talk openly, which does have its pros. I simply feel in the past he had a greater tendency to challenge and inquire. Stuff like the Ronda Rousey 911 stuff is just too far for me.

This episode was probably a bad time to make this point because he does challenge this guest. So yeah, in context my sentiment is confusing.

Also those questioning Joe Rogan's character... yeah... the vast majority of people who have met him in person (many of my close friends have) say he is an all around good guy. A bit out there, but a good guy.

It amazes me that people perceive Rogan as some alt-right guy. He seems like a genuinely well-meaning, and even nice, person. Occasionally he says something I don't agree with, but he is more than willing to admit that he is no expert on subjects of which he is in fact not an expert. He is clearly capable of learning and of self-correcting. It's a shame that SJWs are only interested in robotically preaching to the choir. It's stupid and ultimately weakens the cause.

It's not amazing at all. Regardless of political leanings, many people are quick to write someone off entirely once they've read or heard a sentence they disagree with. It's just easier to do so.

I was looking at political podcasts a couple months ago and randomly found Crowder's; having no idea who he was. For some reason even I can't explain, maybe as a study into alt-right fuckery, I've listened to it weekly since and he's got to be one of the most disingenuous conservatives around.

Here is a rundown of his show every week: saying he didn't/doesn't support Trump while defending Trump, saying "tranny" a lot, bringing up Lena Dunham constantly as an example of liberals, making fun of the Young Turks, and trying to own people in gun debates by boiling everything down to a semantics argument about assault rifles and semi-automatic definitions.

He'll also constantly throw "facts" around by citing things that he's either taking massively out of context or just plain making up.

I think a lot of the anti-Joe sentiment stems from him looking like the guy that used to give you swirlies.
Dude was on Monkey Cage podcast produced by the BBC and with notable scientific guests. The event was hosted by Brian Cox, the physicist. He was oddly quiet for someone who is outspoken.

He's a pseudointellectual. He believes in all kinds of quackery. A recent example is cryotherapy.

Probably because 'I'm just being open minded' doesn't fly well in the face of anti-science, pro religious, spiritual complicity over here. He reminds me a lot of Joey Barton, but is less of a prick.

This is an interesting series of non-sequiturs.

Open minded in that sense is just code, for "I have no idea what I am talking about."

Steven Novella has written about his bullshit.

This goes beyond naivety and into ignoring evidence for the sake of belief.

He hates welfare? Receipts.

He only recently had a conversation about the benefits of universal basic income.

Ooh yeah the episode with Eddie Huang, kinda put his mind to think about basic income
and he kinda started turning around of the idea after some research into it if i'm not mistaken

So a shitpost followed by a retreat to the juvenile "triggered!" response to the people who called out your terrible post. What else?

I've already pointed out that Joe Rogan is a no-talent hack. No point in repeating. That fanboys flip their shit that someone dares to take a dim view of their hero is their issue, not mine.

Kind of makes you wish that people who have no training in or capacity for understanding scientific arguments would not offer opinions on the latest load of bollocks to come from quacks making a quick buck, but unfortunately life isn't that simple.

People pointing out how wrong you are is not 'flipping their shit'.

No one is "flipping their shit" and calling Rogan their hero. You're deflecting with that remark and the earlier "triggered young fans" remark because you've been called out for stupid shitposts that add nothing to the discussion. Are you ITT for any purpose other than to be annoying and edgy and behave as terribly as possible? If anything, I think this thread and a general air of positive takes about Rogan have triggered you to come here and try to shit up the place as much as possible because you can't stand it.

I don't see anybody flipping out, or presenting Joe Rogan as a being even talented. He's a likable guy to a lot of people. That's all you need to be to be him.
