Well, even if he doesn't have the role, the fact he's on his way to audition for it right now means it's fuckin coming one way or another.

There's going to be a Black Panther onscreen sometime soon.

Asian and African Panther.
South and Central American Panther.
Florida Panther.

Black panthers are a category of panthers*.

*Only applies to the first two, all Florida Panthers have a tan coat.

the great black panther...

Vibranium is not a natural resource. It's alien. Fell from the sky. Not natural to earth anyway,

He does kinda have powers. Enhanced strength and durability sometimes akin to Captain America from eating an herb affected by the vibranium in combination with a connection to a deity.

Should have known I'd get a bit of it wrong!

Never really been a fan of the character, maybe a movie would change my mind. Also I think everyone just calls him T'challa.

And yeah not terribly surprised, as a GOTG fan my brain still can't quite process that we live in a world where that is a big budget hollywood film. So an iconic Avenger getting a movie isn't weird.

Has Hollywood ever gone with a casting choice that's popular with the fans?

I can't tell if this guy will or will not play Panther, but I think they won't choose any of the requests made in this thread.

Dude looks real young... I mean he was great in Attack the Block, but... eh...
Marvel is looking at him for the 15-year plan, I'm sure. The clout and momentum of someone who's (reportedly) going to be the breakout star in a sure fire box office smash like Star Wars plus the window of age viability is likely way too much for them to pass up. Think about how much they must be freaking out about either having to find someone to live up to RDJ as Iron Man or write the character out of future movies. Reboots are a tough sell in a contiguous cinematic universe.

They could nab a star like Elba now and keep him locked in for 2-3 movies with a pricey and convoluted contract, but Boyega is an incredibly attractive option for them to lock up a young, still-hungry actor into a long term deal before his asking price skyrockets from the new Star Wars trilogy.

valid points for sure

I just came to a realization that scares me, but i dont want to jinx myself by saying it aloud.

He's not going to get this role. He's going to read for it, sure. Maybe even turn in an amazing audition.

But Disney's not gonna cross the streams on this. They don't want Lucasfilm & Marvel having any sort of production conflict at all.

Dear jeebus, this has to be a Comic Con announcement. Please. I can't. Guys, I can't. If they also announce Ms. Marvel I think I'll auto-combust.

I hope they announce there 3 untitled projects at comic con (Hoping Dr Strange, Black Panther and Ms Marvel). Saturday needs to hurry up.

There is zero context given in the OP. Is this guy some kind of sportsman who had just booked a flight to a Black Panther convention or something? I'm imagining that he is mild mannered and well regarded in the media, so this hint that he was secretly a militant black nationalist the whole time is big news?
im glad i wasnt the first

i had no clue what was happening

Andy Serkis is going to appear in both Age of Ultron and Episode VII.

Some mo-cap for a movie that's already shot (and likely won't feature him in a recurring role) isn't the same as leading the Star Wars trilogy and being a lead in at least 2 superhero movies, as well as a crossover event.

But fuck, I could be wrong :)

I wouldn't be mad.
