This could turn out to be VERY good. If Peter Moore does takeover, then I am sure EA will do better than it has before.
Is this good for gamers or bad ?
I imagine end of march marks the end of EA FY. That's why he lasted that long. He wasn't super bad, just bad.I am sure this is more because of TOR than Sim City but they probably saw benefit in it seeming symbolic.
Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Brutal Legend, BioWare purchase. All investments that EA needed a return on.
For better or for worse, what major doing was this guy known for?
Let me be CEO of EA I'll turn every studio into a Mass Effect studio then we'll see who is the best publisher in the industry you'll all see YOU'LL ALL SEE
Paging Jason Rubin.
You don't think EA's investments in original IP and purchases have anything to do with him being let go?He is being fired because he slept with everyone's wife.
I can make shit up too.
Really? What has Origin's presence done for gamers? All it has done is pull EA games off of Steam as Steam continues to do what it was doing before Origin and Uplay and anything else existed. Which is constantly add progressive features that generally improve the quality of the service and people's happiness with it.
What did Origin do? Add the ability to not play SimCity with their servers? Hold some games' collector's editions on Origin only for $80+?
InterestingFor the record, Michael Patcher has been predicting this would happen for the last six months.
Its a good representation of modern gaming that SimCity would be considered a success. I hope they choke on all that launch cash.To anyone saying SimCity caused this you are wrong. The game is a success after 2 weeks
Doing a search even if you have a frontrunner is not uncommon.Strange. If Moore was to take over, surely they would have announced it at the same time? He is internal after all. Maybe they are really looking for an outsider.
As long as they don't make any games that will embarrass Brian Crecente
where's onlyindreams?
sounds like someone needs a tag update.
I see Peter Moore being worse. It feels like he's been more vocal about exploiting every monetization opportunity.
It says Larry Probst is the new CEO.
We need a long list of his many "accomplishments" now.
-Bought and crushed Pandemic and participated in Bioware's downfall
-Started project 10 dollar and other anti-consumer tactics
-SimCity fiasco
-The old republic bombing, perhaps the most expensive bust ever
-Pulled out of Steam and started a competing service that no one wanted and is worse in every way
People can add to it. There are literally too many to list for just me.
It says Larry Probst is the new CEO.
I don't know if that's true. You are correct. What I meant to say is I'm guessing those practices contributed to his dismissal. That's not the part that needed backing up.
Wonder if Nintendo will actually get support from them now (the support they promised at E3 2011).
