He signed a contract, so MS is not in the wrong. However, MS do have very shady practices. I would not want to release games on their system. The simultaneous release rules are really silly.
Oh man.. There's not one day that goes by that we don't have an indie developer bitching about something on Twitter. I guess that's what you get when you have a bunch of amateurs on the spotlight, but still..
Anyway.. If MS dropped the price, I'm sure they did because the game's not selling very well lately, and they're trying to spice up the numbers.
"Blow up" might sound a little extravagant, but considering that a developer is using something public like twitter to complain about a publisher seems reactionary and unprofessional. He's hardly blowing up. It's common decency to expect to be notified if they're reducing the price of his game, even if they're entitled to do so.
It is yes.

This truly seems to be accidental. Especially if that is the the only time it happened. And ms didn't publish that game.
There are a lot of "indie" studios that aren't amateurs...
If I go to Steam I can sell a game for $25, but if I go to Xbox Live Arcade I cant, Blow explained. In fact, the contract says I cant control the price at all. That artificial channeling is sort of making their platform inhospitable for certain kinds of games.
Oh, hey look, it's Jonathan Blow 2 years ago acknowledging how he can't control price on XBLA.
What is he whining about this time, that pleasantries aren't included in the contract?
Now he says he might raise the PC price for support costs: https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Blow/status/450384773244940289

Oh, maybe we actually agreed to a price drop in 2010 and I forgot because it has been so damn long? My email only goes back to 2011!
lol.
He just deleted his old tweets too
Please pull a Phil Fish and get the hell out of this industry.
Do you really think that EA, Square Eidos, or Activision notify developers when they decide to put their games on sale, especially on the digital marketplaces?
The only time anyone mentions Blow it has something to do with Microsoft. Dude rails pretty hard against them but I would have never bought Braid if it hadn't seen a zillion ads on XBLA when it came out.
Seems like he wasn't aware of anything regarding Braid, and only decided to jump on the opportunity to express his distaste when MS was involved. Another day in the office, I guess. The fact that he wasn't made aware so he could adjust the other, more developer-friendly platforms.
So he first rage on twitter, then realizes that it's part of the contract and then, he goes to say he can pull the game out of the 360 as a reaction of his childish whining? Whoa, Jonathan. Are you stupid? Please pull a Phil Fish and get the hell out of this industry. Braid was mediocre anyway.
What is the right attitude? This guy has always been an ass. His attitude makes me never want to buy his games.

I wonder, does Blow know that Microsoft doesn't use MSP anymore?
What is the right attitude?
It must be done to protect the values I stand for that I also compromised when I knowingly signed a contract that does not share them.pulling the game from XBLA to spite the fact that MS dropped the price without telling him is both a) rude to consumers and b) rather cutting off your nose to spite your face
What is the right attitude?
