This is true if the publisher and developer want the same thing, but presumably Sony don't want their next game, in which case if they did own them, they'd be making a game they otherwise wouldn't have chosen to, that's like the antithesis of what spurs great games.Because as anddo0 also said, exclusivity can bring better results (not always though),because the studios are more focused and they are getting extra technical help from the platform publisher to explore the hardware capabilities even more.

That's like the one example, maybe PD too. For the most part they get told what they're making, SSM wanted to make GoW2 for PS3 for example. If Sony doesn't want TGC's 5th game, I don't see why they'd pay for it.I think Sony is known for giving (way too much) creative freedom to devs that have proven themselves (see Team Ico.)
I would avoid all video reviews... they are showing way too much of the game lol
The IGN one especially.
Sucks that I won't be able to experience this for a while because I don't have access to a PS3 right now.
Anyone else getting the vibe that this might be one of those cases where it ends up with a slight negative backlash down the road due to hyperbole it received at release?
I'm a slow gamer who wants to explore as much as possible at my own pace. Will i lose a lot of the Journey experience if i decide to do the first playthrough alone and then replay it in multiplayer (meeting up with other people)? Is the core essence of the game the co-op? Is there anything at the end which will make the 2nd playthrough a different (read not as good/emotional/powerful) experience?
In short, should my 1st playthrough be multiplayer?
Flower got high praise and very little backlash
Sure there are some people who didn't like it but the games aren't for everybody, so that's expected

Ok a ton of reviews and yet I can't download it this week. Does anyone else think this is screwed up?
Nice to see this getting some impressive reviews, getting it day one for sure. Loved Flower. Also really liking the idea of a completely anonymous co-op partner.
As an aside, am I the only one who feels this could've been a great game on Vita (especially with cross-platform play)? Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity here.
I have a question for the reviewers, well two actually.
The people you play with, do they get added to the 'Recently Met Online' thing? They didn't in the beta, I assume that hasn't changed, but I just wondered.
And secondly how are the trophies? I don't want to look at them because apparently they're spoilerific, but are they creative? Anything unpleasant like City Unscathed in Flower?

That's either really great, or really bad. You're elated from your experience and you see 'xXxCuntTeethxXx' pop up, it's going to be a real bummer. It shows the name of the players you met after the credits.

DD only. So sad...![]()
Why today? It definitely seems like poor planning on Sony's part not to release it today.
Was this delayed at some point? IIRC the Giantbomb quicklook was from like June or July.
Are you afraid of the internet or something?
wow, great scores. for some reason i was expecting many reviewers to thrash the game.. or at least give it a big "meh". i guess i'm an idiot.
Well either that or push back the review embargo up to mid March. Why today?
Have I got great news for you! It's only $15.i will play this when it is cheap.
Have you even played it? The game is a joy to play as well.Yeah, pretty ridiculous if you ask me. The game was obviously beautiful to look at, and indirect enough in what it does that it easily satisfies the industry's insatiable desire to have something to call art. As soon as I saw the trailers and the messaging and marketing around the game, the scores it would get were clear as day to me. Gameplay is really completely outside of the equation.
That was of the Beta.

If PSN allowed gifting I'd gift it to you. I'D GIFT THIS GAME TO EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD.
