Judgement Day: Too Human Demo Up Now!

This could have been a sleeper if Dennis hadn't hyped the game into the stratosphere. There are alot of flaws and the game lacks polish, but there is alot to like for people who like the genre.

Ultimately I think this game will go down in history as a lesson for the absolute wrong way to go about the promotion/pre-release aspect of a video game, and if Microsoft lets a Too Human sequel happen (which strikes me as highly unlikely barring some sort of airtight contract), they'll probably want SK to shut the hell up as a form of damage control.

I can't help but think that if Microsoft handled the PR angle of Too Human exclusively, the outcome would be a lot better in that most people still wouldn't care about the game, but there probably would not be an extremely vocal segment of gamers who passionately detest it and make sure everybody else knows.

do the mods plan on doing that whole tag thing based on review scores?

If anyone bothers doing anything about this game besides quickly forget it, they've really been duped. It's completely forgettable in every way. Anyone maintaining a focus of attention on it is really dancing to Denis' tune.

I went in giving it the benefit of the doubt but it's really just completely lifeless. It's not that it doesn't deserve negative attention. It doesn't deserve any attention at all.

Now I want you all to remember what Professor Dyack lectured us on last week and remember to do everything in our power to validate his feelings and show empathy.

Denis, I am sorry that you were unable to make a better game. Would you like me to make you a cup of hot cocoa and give you a hug? You are a special and unique snowflake, who just happens to have made a very marginal game. Buck Up "lil camper, it'll be ok!

I'm not.

aw well someone should. it would make everything so much funnier.

and if GAF isnt alone on this one, and the reviewers dont like it that much as well, im going to feel very sorry for dennis. he may have done some weird things to promote the game, but he obviously cares about it very much and truly thought it was an awesome game. always sad to see someones hard work be stomped on.

They'd need to hire a SQL expert to write a script that does that, methinks, otherwise I doubt they'd take on such a mammoth task unless they REALLY want to dish out the humble pie.

Stopped playing at the cyberspace part where there are 3 doors and you force push the doodoo rock around.

Either this game isn't finished or Dyack has truly flipped his lid. Seriously, wow.

The worse fate is to have something end up so lifeless. He clearly cared so much about making this game, but you can't see a trace of it in the playing of it.

Honestly it's not even funly bad to be megaton thread worthy. It's just flat and boring.
Oh I meant that in a 'bomba bomba epic fail lulz canada' sorta way.

Oh, come on. ;) I'd have to say your fecal barometer is broken, because there are FAR worse demos out there and games of far less quality that still, in the end, have a decent following. I certainly see where the criticism is coming from, but "the worst shit ever?" Let it not be said that hyperbole is dead . . . :)

come on guys, it's a demo! I'm sure all the problems will be fixed in the final game!

I am sure the gameplay will get better at least. Diablo I & II are pretty boring in the beginning too.

sad to hear that its that bad. i was a huge fan of eternal darkness and its compelling story, too bad...

This game is absolutely awful....seriously, I could at least get through the Haze demo (which was awful too, btw). I'm not sure if I'll be arsed to finish this one.

Microsoft, you have your own Lair/Haze.

AGAINST.

download at 50%, get a move on. reading these impressions does not get my hopes up

Yeah, I can't even recommend people to keep downloading. It's not even fun to see how terrible it is. It's not even fun in being janky and broken. It's like playing a game through gauze. You can do what you need to do but there's a disconnect where "fun" should be.

I was never that big on this game to begin with but after playing that demo, im staying far away from it. I hate to sound like a jackass but to the people that are enjoying the demo I ask you...How???

Just finished downloading!
finally.
I'll give my impressions tomorrow.

Listen buddy, I am downloading this and I want it to either be remarkably good or hilariously bad.

Stop killing my buzz!

What score did the game need to beat on Meta Critic for Dyack to win?
According to him, it needed to best his previous titles (ED got 92)...but he has since retracted the bet because it was all a "social experiment" gone awry.

Gotta wait until friday before I can play this.

The fact that its an opinion pretty much kills everything you just said. The experience Im having with this is one of the worst ever, there really isnt any arguing there, as its my own personal feeling toward this fucking abomination. Sure, ive played games that are worse, but they werent ever supposed to be shit in the first place and they didnt cost $60.

This game is the worst piece of shit ever. Its a fact in regards to the way i feel, and an opinion that Im expressing.

Has anyone actually said they enjoyed it? :lol

Sorry, man. I'm not even disappointed. The game is so inert, it's completely erased whatever part of me was actually excited for it as if it never existed.

Denis said this game was better than Eternal Darkness, so the GAF mods said 90%. Then Denis balked at that number and said that the game wasn't "crap" as some mods have said, so Denis said it needed to score higher than Lair/Haze, which were like 45%.

If Too Human scores lower than 45%, it's an epic fail.
If it scores higher than 90%, it a perfect victory.
If it scores 45-90%, then there are some scenarios in which he can claim some sort of victory, but he doesn't really "win".

There was no final agreement on the terms. And then Denis dismissed the whole thing as him trolling for reactions.

Personally I think it will go down in history as a lesson for the wrong way of NeoGaf to treat gaming.

Why am I in this thread, I don't even own a Xbox 360. :lol

Same here, but the meltdown was too much of a temptation to pass. :lol

Anyway, i was keeping an eye onto this, since i'm planning to get a 360 around fall. Seems like i will pass this, not looking too hot.

Wow, see I would expect something more frustrating to be the worst shit you've ever played. To be in a situation where you want to do something in a game and do the complete opposite. This game never compelled to really want to do anything and when nothing happened quite the way it should have I didn't really care either way.

I guess that's...a kind of abomination.

So, how is this compared to KUF: Circle of Doom? At least, compared to that game's demo.

The KOF demo is probably worse, but it didn't have the awful cutscenes.
