Judgement Day: Too Human Demo Up Now!

I just played like 10 minutes of the demo, don't think it is quite as bad as some are making it out to be. If it weren't for the horrible camera it might even have been enjoyable.
Definitely not something I'll be buying, but I can see it getting reviews in the 6-9/10 range.

Seriously? Come on. This is the problem right here. People magnifying boredom into an assault on the senses completely out of spite.

No, its completely justified because pride comes before a fall. You can't promise the world and not deliver at the last moment.

Given all these negative responses, is DD going to claim that the demo is Phase II of his grand social experiment and therefore claim to have somehow owned us all?

Even if Denis never gets the tag "owned by the GAF", he's getting owned collectively by the GAF right now after playing his demo and after hearing so much hype that he's been talking about recently.

I really wish there was some redeemable aspect of Too Human...but I can't think of a single thing that it does even remotely well. Not even the menus or UI.

I guess the best thing I can say about it is that the soundtrack seems decent enough?

Did you watch the cutscenes? Seriously. If that's not an assault on the senses, I don't know what is.

God I hope that patent SK requested for their camera system goes through!

If it prevents any other dev from reproducing such a sh*tty camera then some good would have come out of this fiasco after all.

Omg can they really do that!?

I'm dying here. :lol

Fair enough. I just think you're playing right into his hands. It's not worth any attention whatsoever, in my opinion. He didn't offend me with the game's awfulness. He didn't impact my sensations in any discernible way. The game left no impression on me whatsoever. That's, naturally, bad for a game, unsuccessful and a failure as a video game, but nothing worth pulling down the wrath of god over.

Okay, you're usually pretty level headed regarding pretty much everything (apart from $3000 PC Rigs :) ) so now I'm actually beleiving it's as bad as they say :(
It's not that bad. It's pretty average. In this "post MGS4 cutscene world" the game does look like shit. But really it didn't bother me. The controls while different did feel like a point and click game ala Diablo. This game lacks a fucking hook. From the demo I take it there really is no soul other than the loot whoring. Maybe there is a point to that.

A part of me feels the loot is enough as it was enough when it came to PSO. And I've played the hell out of every version of PSO. But I just don't know at this point. I think he lost my 60 dollars. I wont ignore it though. I'll rent it and if after a real playthrough I like it then I'll happily give SK what little money I have.

"You see?! I purposely released a bad demo of the game, and all of them hated it because of their hive mind!"

So I played about 35minutes of the demo here are some pros and cons so far.

Pros
-The waterfall looks good
-You get loot in the game

Cons
-Bad character models
-There are parts of the game that look last gen, some last last gen
-So far the story is bad... but I'm not going to say the entire story is bad from just the demo
-It feels like the camera works against you most of the time, it gets really annoying
-I personally did not like the combat at all, I feel like I'm playing SSHD in Too Human
-Animation is REALLY bad in many parts of the demo.

I think I'll stop the bleeding with those :)

And now you guys know why I couldn't get myself to go back to the game's preview to record the 4*1 minutes of footage Microsoft allowed (yeah thanks for your generosity) us to do. I never could get into Diablo 1/2, so imagine this. It's not horrible (except some animations who ARE HORRIBLE), just utterly average in everything it does.

Boy oh boy. Well hey, the full game will be much better and that's what counts who got gamerankings on tap I know I do!

I guess the videos that were released the other months or so weren't misleading then; sounds like a terribly average game. Shame though, my cousin was pumped for this game, and we were supposed to co-op our way through it.

Yup. This is probably the worst possible scenario for everyone.

Denis makes a game no one cares about and GAF loses what could have been the most epic thread ever.

LOL
I dont have a 360, but I guess Every Console has to have its "Lairs...."

I was going to try the demo once my batteries were done charging.. But forget it.. the verdict is clear.. It's not great.. It's average-decent at the very best...

Sleep sounds good.

hmm. What I've seen thus far is decent. Controls take some getting used to. The interesting part here is watching people spinning it down to something of superman 64 proportions, which it honestly is not. However, I'm afraid that with all the 'social issues' surrounding it now (to say nothing of hype) it's not set up for the ... best ... kind of scrutiny.

this. also, i thought the music was quite good.

i'm not quite sure what everyone was expecting. it plays exactly like i though it would based on everything i have seen and read about the game. it certainly is not the type of game i get into (i don't care about loot), but it seems solid. i'd imagine this will receive a lot of 7's and 8's. it would probably rate higher for someone who is really into diablo type games...

I'm not ashamed to admit that I had posted my PSO reborn hopes on this title. It sounds to me like they should have put some accelerated levelling in the demo like Crackdown did so you could get a feel for the meat of the game and not just, what sounds like, a superficial combat demo. Combat is never the hook in these games.

Dropped ball?

The game isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. Yes, the cut scenes are cringeworthy and yes, there are some horrible animations, but the loot and skill systems are very deep and will probably be very rewarding in the retail game.

It's not Diablo and it's not DMC, but it's far from being shit.

And they really should have included a second class and co-op in the demo. I'm sure the combat will be far more enjoyable in that setting.

I'm impressed

- Some parts are really beautiful, but the combat area's are really so-so
- The cut scenes are ok, not as bad as other gaffers claim.
- The combat is a little getting use to but when you get a hang of it you enjoy it more.
- I noticed the parts were the godess comes down when you die, its done for the loading (i think).
- Its a pretty fun game, not great but decent.

I can't say I agree with you there, but no, I was actually talking about the personal call-outs. : ) I've always thought them to be a bit out of line.

Unfortunately, Dennis did the mother of call-outs with his last thread . . .

i think thats what the guy was referring to when he said 'loud mouth'

It would have possibly been a lot more playable of the fighting mechanic was as fluid as a DMC or something, but the combat really tethers the game in the realm of disinterest.

I just can't find the combat exciting in the least. I mean, as flawed as 99 Nights was, at least I had fun plowing through waves of enemies.

In Too Human, there aren't enough masses of enemies for it to be fun just flailing around with weapons, but there are just enough in all different areas of a particular space to make the controls and camera a hinderance.

Wow. I love this. You have to pay for Xbox Live to get the supposedly "free" demo. Fuckers.

What. How long have you had an Xbox 360 :lol . New demo's are gold only for a week.

-Animations are stiff.
-Cutscenes are the ugliest I've seen this gen.
-Combat seems shallow as fuck.(this may improve with ugrades??)

I have nothing postive to say about the demo.

I honestly forgot about the camera after ten to fifteen minutes. It wasn't a problem once I got used to it.

I'm with you on the controls for now, but again, I think that with time I'd be able to have a good time with the combat. And with a buddy, it'd be even more fun.

HOW DARE THEY

instead of not having cuore which is the word for heart in Italian... ok, do I really have to humiliate myself further and explain the pun :( ?

Okay I've played a bit of this game. These are my honest to goodness impressions of the game:

+ The loot is pretty good. That actually is tolerable. I get the feeling that later on in the full retail version of the game you're going to have to micromanage it which I'm not sure would be as good.
+ Some of the music I've heard is passable.
+ I don't get the complaints with the menu. If they were complicated it wouldn't work at all. The menus work.

- The cutscenes. I can't stand them. The dialogue in them is so bad it makes Seagal movies look like eloquent prose and wit.
- The camera system is a fucking travesty. I've had it place itself in the absolute worst position possible at least twice and I have yet to feel as if it was competent at any point.
- The combat itself is worthless. This is the bread and butter of the game and it's so average that it becomes tedious. It's not exciting in any way. What I've played of it so far doesn't deviate in any way outside of pressing the right stick. And it's too effective so there's no real incentive to even see if anything else works.
- *edit* I almost forgot. The animation is fucking awful. I think I would prefer flash animation to some of the shit I've seen in this game. I'm not even talking about the graphics which look barely passable as a 360 game. I tried to think of something witty to say about the animation but I'm drawing a blank. It's just fucking bad. There's no other way to put it.

i can completely understand how you would feel that way about the game. however, this is not a title that deserves to live in infamy among other shit-fests like superman 64. that much is obvious just from the demo. i'm all for calling a spade a spade, but a spade too human is not.

So whats wrong with the camera system again?

I think the demo could have been tweaked to suit the genre better. Like you said offering fast leveling would allow people to try the different skills and fully explore how deep the combat can go. I'm not completely turned off. Sadly I think most people will be. I feel bad for Denis.

Well, all is not lost. And if the single player is a gateway in to co-op then it could at least be passable, I just need to find a regular partner to play with.

If the demo doesn't kill any gusto I have left for the game.

I'm digging it so far, nothing exactly ground breaking, but I'm certainly entertained.

+The combat system is (under the surface) fairly deep, but as of yet, i've had few real reasons to use its depth other then, "oh look at this cool combo i can do." We'll see if that pays off later on in the demo.

+Loot/Leveling systems are well done. I can easily see a niche for the loot whores

-Cutscenes are pretty "meh"... and far too often.

-Camera is pretty ass, not Ninja Gaiden 2 ass, but ass.

In combat the camera wasn't tremendously a problem, but when walking around an area, especially turning around, you had to be recentering a lot more than I'd have liked. But again, yeah, it's not totally broken in that the camera gets stuck in a wall or something. It's just never helping you have fun.

That's what the game's problem is. For me at least.

Nothing is stopping you from having fun, it's just that nothing's helping you either.

Did you hit down on the d-pad for the far away camera?
