I'm leaning towards Punk wins belt, gets ambushed by ADR who cashes in and wins the belt and fights Cena at SummerSlam, since that's all WWE's "Creative" department seems to want to do: hotshot people into the main event and hope and pray the fans react properly. I'd like to think they'd actually let Punk leave with the title and ride this wave but I doubt it.

I'm in complete agreement with you on this.

However, the one wrinkle that I don't like the angle of is a shrewd guy like Punk who's cashed in the briefcase to win the title twice getting "surprised" by a cash-in. It doesn't make sense unless he lets his guard completely down. And the only storyline way THAT would happen would be if his best friend Colt Cabana screws him over in exchange for a WWE contract.

Hnnnnnngggg that's so good. Not like they had a lack of great material to work with, but still.

That said, $55 to get this PPV in HD? Yeeeesh.

PPV prices are quite ridiculous. The fact that they haven't lowered the cost and/or lowered the amount of PPVs despite falling buyrates month after month is astounding.

And they'll completely gloss over that if it's not important to their buildup for SummerSlam.

Anyways, I guess we'll find out this weekend. I wish I could order the PPV (they've earned it) but I have to save all my money for my trip to Japan next month.

A bit old, but good God, I love these guys. And they do seem to know their old-school wrestling. I lost my shit at the Paul Bearer part.

Ahahaha, holy shit that's gold.

"Hey, remember that time that Hulk Hogan's son killed that dude?"

"Hey, remember when everybody saw Hogan's daughter, and they realized she was just a slutty, trashy, female version of him?"

Wow. :lol

No he isn't.

He isn't, but when Punk delivered his promo they could've easily switched the face/heel role for Punk and Cena but they didn't.

I think though, that the IWF(is that the term?) take him as the face because of that though. There's actually a pretty blurred line right now between the two, but Cena is without a doubt a face as well.

But if Punk wins, isn't Cena fired?

Hey, if you wanted a Punk shirt and wear a medium or large, the white ones are back in stock in those sizes. I finally got mine because they've been sold out everytime I've gone to order them previously.

Soooooo tempted. It'd cost an ass load to ship it to NZ though.

Edit: I think you might have been looking at the Youth shirt because it still shows out of stock for everything else that isn't 3 or 4XL. :(

Heres an interesting topic. Is the WWE forced to turn Cena heel? Think about it! Weather they like it or not, Cena will be entering WrestleMania as a heel. Weather they like it or not, Cena is entering the MITB PPV considered by many to be the heel. Sure not amongst women and children (although the women mainly like Cena for his looks so they shouldn't count too much. The WWE is about to drop the ball on what could be the biggest angle in long time. Punk is in a perfect position to be the top face and with a little help from fan bashing, Cena is in perfect position to be the top heel. The problem is regardless if we like it or not the ball is about to be dropped.

Vince McMahon doesn't realize that every damn word of what Punk said during his worked-shoot promo is considered by many to be the truth. Its considered every more of a truth with fans who have tuned out, the fans Vince claims he wants back. Vince doesn't realize that all the cheers, all the people who got behind CM Punk was thinking the exact same thing he was saying. That thing being Vince doesn't care what the fans want, and that is the problem. The main problem is CM Punk's promos may have accidentally changed the Face/Heel roles at the PPV in many peoples eyes. John Cena will be chewed up in Chicago. I personally would recommend a security escort if he is booked to win. However, come WrestleMania time, he will be chewed up by more of the WWE Universe than those who already resent him.

I was at the Garden this past Monday. I expected a gigantic pop for Cena. My ears were pleasantly surprised, even his hometown had a mixed reaction, more of a mixed reaction that other towns give him. The bigger problem they faced was that the more CM Punk opened his mouth, the more fans turned on hometown hero, John Cena. It is my belief that the WWE needs to shell out anything CM Punk wants to resign him, he is in perfect position to have an Austin like feud with Cena and McMahon that could very well see the resurgence of ratings, and possibly the end of TNA. For the record, I will say I respect everything Cena has done for the WWE and how hard he pushes himself nearly every night. In that sense I am a John Cena fan. I am not a fan of how John Cena is booked, and of how he refuses to step out of the spotlight to let a new star shine.

So I ask you this WrestleGAF, did the CM Punk promos accidentally put Cena in a heel position? Is the WWE forced to turn Cena heel regardless of his status come WrestleMania time?
This is all very interesting but are you sure Vince and the WWE can predict the weather nearly a year in advance? Weather is not for us to decide. Wrestlemania is indoors anyway so I actually don't really understand what the weather has so much to do with Cena turning heel.

I'm actually pretty confused weather.

What happened to botchamania???

Website is down and there hasn't been a vid upload in a few weeks...

:(

? It's up for me, Maffew posted a note on it:

Sorry for the lack of updates and the site being down for a while, I have no internet at my new house and was unable to pay the bill until today. Botchamania resumes service as normal at the end of the month.

I'd totally buy a CM Punk shirt if WWE Euroshop weren't a piece of shit site that overcharged for everything. I mean, look at it. LOOK AT IT!

Euroshop is an absolute disgrace I tell you! When WWE all stars came out there was a voucher for around £3 with the game for Euroshop, I never got to make use of it because everything is so damn expensive! Plus the stock is always outdated, makes me wonder who actually uses the site.

Edit: They still have a section at the side for The Hardy Boys for crying out loud!

Something I'm wondering is if Cabana is going to be re-signed by WWE... His ROH contract is up this month and he hasn't re-signed with them yet..

From last page

For what it’s worth, Colt Cabana, who Punk mentioned on the air again (leading to “Colt Cabana” chants from the Boston crowd), has told at least one promotion he’s worked with regularly that he’s not taking any more dates with them after next month. He also was involved in an injury angle that could write him out of NWA Hollywood. In addition, he did not sign an ROH contract. Cabana, Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli are the only key wrestlers who haven’t signed new ROH deals that were still being used. Hero and Castagnoli are still expected to be WWE bound even though they are advertised for the first ROH TV tapings in Chicago next month, as they are doing the pre-signing procedure of getting the full physical and having their backgrounds checked.

.... more intrigue for this Sunday's PPV ... damn, $44.95 for the PPV. Then again, UFC 133 is $54.95.

Makes me feel rather smug that here in Ireland and the UK we get to see the show live on Sky Sports. No PPV spending for us!

"Yesterday, news broke on Netflix raising their rates by 60% as they were splitting their subscription plan into two. It caused a wave of Social Media backlash including a “Dear Netflix” twitter trend. (Read CNet’s coverage here) and read what Netflix users are saying on Twitter. It was a passionate outpouring from consumers about what they wanted from a company. Let’s try a little experiment to let Vince McMahon know what you want. Go on Twitter and send out a tweet starting with “Dear Vince…” and then tell him what you want out of the WWE. Tag it with @WWE and #DearVince. Let him know what you want from your WWE, from your WWE “Superstars” from your “wrestling”. If enough people do it, it’ll trend. If it trends someone in that company will read it. “Power to the People” started this whole angle the night Punk cut the promo. Now it’s our turn to say “Dear Vince…”

Totally up to you guys to do what Lagana is asking for ... I don't have a twitter account but I'll certainly create one for this purpose.

Please relay to other wrasslin forums if you are part of it.

Punk's contract negotiation was full of details on his actual contract.

1. Pushing Vince. He really meant that he'll get pushed.

2. Merchandising increased.

3. Throws the table across the ring "tables have turned". Going to be a face.

4. Colt Cabana re-signed.

5. Main event at WrestleMania. a.k.a. Royal Rumble 2012 winner.

6. "I'm just tired". Will probably take some time off before returning.

dat over-analysis.

I think Lagana overestimates the power of social networking in regards to pro wrestling.

True, at the end of the day .. it's Vince's decision. At the very least, it's more material for Punk for his promos. "Damn it Vince .. how many #DearVince tweets do you need to receive to get it through your think ignorant skull!!!"

if Vince fails to resign with Punk by Sunday, does anyone see this as a huge opportunity for TNA? Would they sign Punk and let him do whatever he wants?

Vince has already signed Punk. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince McMahon ends up helping Punk win revealing it was all a set up and a fired John Cena has to fight the corporation again.

Punk will never go to TNA. He talks shit about half the guys there.

Corporate v2 vs. John Cena, can Cena overcome those odds?

I'll take a rehash of late 90s stuff over anything they are giving us right now....although this time I'd be rooting for the heels

Cena can overcome a 7 on 1 beat down, I'm sure he can overcome a new corporation

I think it's safe to say Cena can overcome pretty much any number, but can he overcome himself? we'll probably find out when WWE reach the bottom of the barrel and begin the fake/imposter Cena storyline, because the way to get more viewers is clearly more Cena.

Fake Cena will be Alex Riley.
