Jurassic World Official Trailer

Oh look, the plot is as stupid as we thought. They have no confidence in this movie. That's probably why they drop the trailer early.

This would make sense if there was a competing Dinosaur Theme Park. The reason Universal and Disney are expanding so much is competition. And there are so many real dinosaurs that they should never run out of new attractions. There is little reason to create a hybrid.

But in their mind people go once see T-Rex, Raptors, etc.
Do you ever need to go again? Not really, there is no real dinosaur after those that you could add that would have the majority of people who have gone say
"Holy shit we have to go back!".

Its not like Disney etc where you can go over and over and ride fun rides each time.
You are spending thousands for the spectacle of seeing real life dinosaurs and the two that most people care about have been done since day 1.

Hyped!

Also the amount of hate in this topic is hilarious, one would think that at this point people have learnt not to judge a film by a trailer.

Remember this thread?

Time to eat crow regarding Guardians of the Galaxy?

I'm starting to compile material for a new one!
That really was quite something. Please do!

Those kids weren't the protagonists, that scene was the only one they had on their own. Grant was the protagonist. Hopefully Pratt has way more time than what the trailer makes me think that it'll be at least 50/50 kids/Pratt
At the end of the trailer the only cast named are Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, so the kids will likely get quite a bit of screentime but not a lot of it.

Really? REALLY lol!? A weapon? Thing can just have a JDAM dropped on it and that's the end of that. What kind of weapon would it be?

The scripts if I recall correctly leaked before, it's to create a new attraction and new visitors.
Yep, also it happens in real life attractions!
Plus I'm sure people would be less excited about the movie if it had T-Rex, Spinosaurus and the Raptors as antagonists again.

How long has the park been going that people are already bored of fucking dinosaurs?
Some 10 years.

People were expecting this movie to be good or something? Every JP after the first has been hot gargabe...why would this be any different?

"Those posts"? Pointing out that criticizing unfinished effects is silly is a problem?

Universal chose these scenes to represent their movie. If they are indeed sub-par "unfinished effects" then you should probably blame them for that, not the people left unimpressed by the trailer.

Or maybe genetically engineered vegan Raptors.

Yes, no confidence. That's why you have hundreds of people working years to finally bring it to film for us. No confidence I say!

And it dropped early because the thing was leaking like mad the last couple of days.

You realize that Sea World and Disneyland are competitors, right? I bet that they will provide their rationale for their fake movie decision in the movie.

Not impressed but I am still excited to return to Isla Nublar. Pratt and his raptors look like a cool concept. Somehow I have a feeling this rogue dinosaur is going to break the barrier between the old park and new park and we will have Pratt commanding all the new dinos to stave off the attack of the old dinos.

And Disney/Universal are always expanding, working on new rides and attractions. Using newer technology to make better rides.

Dont get carried away complaining about "Serious Pratt". These big debut trailers often leave out all the humor and focus on the most dramatic and tense moments and dialogue. Later trailers will change up the mood a bit. By the time you get to the release, they'll probably have one of the short TV spots be themed entirely around the humorous moments. You see this with superhero movies, Transformers, etc.

What Im saying is that we dont know what Pratt's character or this film are yet, tonally. But we do know that debut trailers for blockbusters are usually super serious compared to the more varied content of the actual film.

Those stupid smart raptor are in, fuck this shit

Will still see it obv, but I hope they manage to lean into the dumbness of it all.

Looks like it might just be awesome. Super fun movie with awesome dinosaurs, not something we get a lot of.

Super stoked.

God it looks fucking awful. Bad CGI (which I am sure they will improve) bit its the use of it. I don't give a shit about a CGI train, you can just tell they think it looks really fancy on screen but it looks fake. The dialogue was bad, genetically engineered dinosaurs is stupid. There are hundreds of natural, dangerous dinosaurs they could have had as a threat but no. Can just tell the line 'we shouldn't tamper with nature' will be in the film at some point.

-Category 1: People who love the original and only the original
-Category 2: People who love the first two JP films
-Category 3: People who love all three JP films

Category 1 will hate this trailer
Category 2 will be cautiously optimistic about it
Category 3 will claim GOAT

You do know the dinos in the original films were also genetically engineered too right lol? "Frog DNA"?

I'm happy all of the armchair VFX artists on the Internet come out to critique new trailers that consist entirely of unfinished VFX shots.

Velociraptor is believed to have been an intelligent pack hunter. Who ever heard of humans taming an animal like that?

So who is leaning into what here?

Just not that impressive IMO

You DO realize that none of the JP dinos are natural, right? That was, ya know, kinda the whole point of the first film? Frog DNA and all?

This trailer shows what separates masters like Spielberg from other wannabe directors. This movie looks like utter crap.

The same Spielberg that gave us Indy 4?

How do you explain Lost World? It's a fun movie but really it's ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure their intent for this was not to make the Dark Knight Rises of Jurassic Park.

Jurassic World has been operating fine for 10 years when the movie starts.
Its when they start screwing around with stuff and playing God again that bad shit happens again.

I get that angle, I understand it. But how it then doesn't work is the stupid lax security angle on the whole thing again. Fine, sure, make a super-dinosaur. But keep it somewhere with a fucking laser ceiling or some shit, with concrete over the top too as a secondary. Jurassic Park happened, where the electric fences failed and they chewed on through.

The follow up isn't "oh, well we built like some wooden wall high up and... oh it climbed it huh?" Thats just when an entire cinema audience is making "DUH-DOY?!" noises and getting frustrated. Even more with whatever system they have to stop a giant boat sized alligator in a specific body of water and not swim on out to fuck a tugboat in Jamaica or whatever for hijinx.

All this in a world where the military has had to step in multiple times to deal "with this dinosaur bullshit again".

It almost looks like the raptors have accepted Chris Pratt into their pack. That end part makes it seem like they're heading into battle or something.

I'm in Category 1 and I liked the trailer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exciting but also slightly underwhelming but the film isn't out until next June and I imagine most of the effects shots are still being worked on.

I hope they don't show the new Dino until the actual movie though.
