Just Cause 2 Demo Impressions - 360/PS3/PC

The only thing that bugs me about open world game missions tends to be the preponderance of races (the ones you MUST do to progress) and timed missions. Used sparingly they can be pretty cool, used over often and they become a crutch that just leads to replay frustrations.
 
I really wish GiantBomb would do a quicklook of the demo. The only thing I can't figure out is I preordered the game on Wal-Mart and it says I won't get it till a week later :(

An easier way to do it is to walk up to one of the cannisters, grapple the top of it and you'll find yourself hanging on the cylinder. Then angle down and shoot it with a pistol. Blastoff!
 
You know what would be even better.. if you landed the car on that northern area of the demo map that has the vertical ramps, and rode the car out without it exploding. Gonna see if this is possible now.

It would take a wickedly precise drop though.

It's really hard to do because the thing that's tethered drops way, way too fast. However, I am now attempting to do it with a plane tethered to the helicopter. Will I be able to fly it after getting in? TBD

If you notice in the video, in the middle of the sick-nasty-in-air hijacking, the car does a half barrel roll and stays upside down the rest of the way, so it might be a lot harder than expected.

Then again, if the car is empty you might be all set.

Reminds me of something I did to kill the colonel at the mansion. Got on the roof, attatched one of the crates of rockets to the copter, took off and hovered over him, then jumped out so it crashed down into him and killed him :D

Well, done if taking the Heli at the base above the hideout, using it to hijack an attacking helicopter, going back to the base with it, attaching it to the bigger copter, taking off in the bigger copter, attracting another attack heli, jumping out of the big heli and into the attack heli, and then using that attack heli to kill the chopper attacking you counts. If so, done, done, done, and motha fuckin' done.

The demo is amazing, I really can't wait for the full game. I had quite a fun time with the original (as a rental). It's insane how much they seem to have improved it.
 
I tried to do that in the picture above, i hooked a plane upto the helicopter, flew high up then bailed out.

However it seemed that once i jumped out of the helicopter the plane was falling too fast for me to catch it.
 
Was playing again with the timer glitch and just north of the demo area at night time it started to rain. Though it looked pretty chintzy and the ground didn't get wet or anything so it's probably not all there in the demo.

Find the thread for the demo on somethingawful. A guy there made a little mod to increase the timer to 24 hours, get rid of the boundaries, gets rid of the opening cut scene, and give you all weapons and vehicles in black market for free, it's in the OP there. Right now there's a bug with it that gets rid of some sound fx but just kill yourself and they'll return to normal, also, you can't pull down statues.
 
Probably has been pointed out earlier on in the thread or on another forum but at coordinates x: 6008 m, y: 26990 m there's a piece of wood floating in the air and somewhere else on the road another piece of wood is slightly floating in the air. The one I gave in the coordinate is pretty noticeable.

Great demo btw.
 
Wow, that video was awesome. One thing I've been trying to do is get attack helicopters to chase me in the plane and then tether a helicopter to my plane while riding it. Hard to time/aim.

Finally did the glitch on the PS3 and the sunset blew my mind. Just floating along the ocean as the sun set with birds flying buy; so amazing! I was able to see the city buildings although as you get closer the textures disappear still looks like it will be tons of fun.
 
The videos on the last few pages are pretty fuckin hilarious (especially neva's), so can I confirm that the PS3 version has youtube upload? If so, I'm on board day one.
 
Wow this engine would be so awesome in some more ambitious and richer hands.

And fuck me silly, but I just had flashes of Kratos having that attach/grapple ability @_@

Jep, it does.

Once activated It automatically records the last 30 seconds of gameplay, and you can record a total of 10 minutes when in need of more.
