Just Cause 2 Multiplayer - [Beta Test: Sat 8th-9th September]

Yeah, part of the reason I had to stop. the keyboard inputs registering when I ALT TAB was infuriating.

Also, I haven't eaten all day. Making food and I'll be back on.

It was fun with you guys. Too bad I got fed up before the picture session. Hopefully there will be a way to set up clan spawns or something.

Having a whole server fight for territory and actually have that shit show up EVE style would be sublime. Or even having certain Black Market items be exclusive to certain clan factions that meet certain requirements, like having the most air hangars and stuff. Have areas set up for Rally style racing where one person drives and the other is riding on top shooting enemy drivers, while going through some scenic backwoods.

The fucking potential for the stuff the multi could provide is pretty much anything you can dream up.
 
Yeah I wish the respawn points would change. Everyone starts out in the same town. On the other hand, it kind of makes getting to Mile High Club an adventure.
 
Yeah, my only gripe for now is that spawning in a shitty spot is awful. 10-15 minutes of grappling to get somewhere better/finding any nearby car, only to have it get hijacked as soon as you get on the highway/route to the nearest airport or major hub. I actually realized it's faster just to wait along side the highway on a long straight portion for the first unfortunate passerby. As they're driving, just grapple them and hijack their car, if they're already going fast you'll maintain that speed when you jump in and odds are they won't have time to re-grapple you. Sure beats hoofing it or wasting your own time finding a good car and getting it onto the highway.

Just had my first taste. So AWESOME. Me and some guy kept carjacking each other until a guy in a big ass tank decided to end our dispute by destroying the car and us along with it.
 
I've also seen people using the multi-tether/unbreakable tether.

No dice on the superman mod when I tried it earlier. I downloaded the one highest up on the top 50 list.
 
I'm guessing it will be like Minecraft or DayZ with tons of cheaters unless they start addming some sort of admin(s) that can kick people. Not that there's much of an objective or rules to begin with, I suppose.

I actually wonder if this could be the next DayZ-esque project. Arma II seems like it was much more amenable to modding though, so I'm not sure how far this will go. Exciting, still!

Does this require modding the Steam Just Cause 2 exe or is it just something that runs alongside it?

No modding needed. Just run this exe instead of the regular one.
 
I can't get it to run. Could it be because my games are on an external drive (though it goes to Just Cause 2 properly. Mmm).
 
Tried installing some mods just for the hell of it and they don't seem to work in MP. They work fine in SP, but I think people are wrong when they say they see people flying in the MP mod. It could just be that the parachute is invisible due to a bug, so it looks like people are flying.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking it is. I know you can't use mods in the MP, so it must be something like that. When people grab onto a helicopter it looks weird too... as does watching someone swim from a helicopter (or just above).

It is more to do when someone is grappled to something or riding something. It doesn't sync very well so it looks like they are falling everywhere, like the superman mod.

Yeah there's a lot of weird visual stuff on other people's clients. You can be riding on top of a car or plane and it looks perfectly fine, but other players will see you wiggling all over the place.

I had a helicopter earlier and had a friend attach a boat to it with his grapple and ride around in the boat while I flew and it was completely fucked up. Then his game crashed.
 
It looks like some mods are possible because I've seen a few people playing as Bolo in the last couple minutes and somebody on chat said they saw a bunch of nude Ricos.

edit: maybe everybody is Bolo now. I don't know.

I noticed that too! I got to the Mile High Club (which went under siege a few times) and it gave me an idea for what they could do with this mod.

Airship wars - You have multiple airships like the MHC, each suited with weapons and deployable vehicles. You have someone be commander, navigator, etc, and the goal is to destroy the enemy airship. I thought of this when I saw people making bombing runs on the MHC.

Also, I will have video of that going up on Youtube.
 
This is pretty freakin fun.

It'll be amazing with a few changes:

1. You can create your own server
2. There are pedestrians
3. There are several weapons
4. There are minimal glitches
5. Multiple people in one car

I kind of like that there is one server right now because there's enough people with ~500 on it to really make the world feel full, but not completely chaotic.

You can do this with some vehicles. Me and my friend were cruising around with me in the passenger seat in just a regular car. They do need to change the way hijacking works. Either remove it entirely or try to make some iteration of the minigame from the SP.
 
Does anybody know if the hot air balloon is available in the mod? I went to the location and it wasn't there but I thought maybe someone else took it and a new one hadn't spawned or something. If not hopefully they get it in somehow. I was going to try grappling to a plane or something.
 
goddamnit, lost my fucking JC2 disc. Shouldn't have uninstalled it in the first place, gahh

looks like I'll be using amazon.com. can't wait to play this mod
