Ken confirmed for Street Fighter V

So based on all the pictures/video that have come out so far, it seems pretty fair to say that Ken's new design looks good (especially in motion), but the face/hair need some work. It just looks kinda lame from some angles, like the character select screen (I think his eyes might be too big, and his jaw/chin too narrow). Hopefully they hear the fan feedback and tweak the model just a bit in the coming months, but overall I think he looks awesome.

They finally got ryu looking close to looking like the third strike, but they really fucked up ken, that hair makes him look like a joke.

I'm actually okay with what they did to Ken. He was always the more in your face kind of character and it seems like they upped it a notch. I dig his Geralt-like ponytail, although it does look kinda weird with the plastic/claymation art style the game has.

I'm curious how that teased guy will turn out.

Ken's face and hair look terrible. Who was that they were teasing at the end?

So youd rather have the mullet? Come on now.

The model is a work in progress and it will improve a lot just like all of the characters have improved so far.

I hope one of Ken's win quotes is "Banana slamma!"

I dunno, those tattoos don't look particularly Maori from what we can see. I hope you're right though, I'd love to see some NZ representation in Street Fighter!

He also moves in those two second clips in a way similar to how a Maori rugby player does when he's trying to be intimidating, and looks pretty similar to a NZ rugby player.

Honestly, I really love what they brought with Ken in his design. I could see him having a 'modern' take to the default gi he wears. His hair doesn't bother me too much. Actually, that fact that it's long again is a plus, so hopefully down the road we get an Alpha outfit.

The face is just completely off. I think he should be having a more long/sculpted face than the round one that he has. Possibly a sharper chin. To the people that don't like his eye color being brown, I like it, because he doesn't fully play the being an American (blonde/blue eyes) motif. He is half Japanese, he should look that part as well.

Ken looks great with his Gi down and the Underarmor shirt on. His hair does look like bananas and I kind of wish they gave him a short cut with his natural black hair (Ken's hair is dyed, look it up) but he looks cool this way too.

I'll never understand the need to make uninterested crowds in SF games. The best stages are when the crowd is going apeshit over what they're witnessing right in front of them. Balrog, Zangief and Ken's stage in SFII and the KoF games have always been great at making excited crowds in fighting games. At least they're looking in the fighter's direction if they aren't super hyped. Why make bored and uninterested characters in the background?

Mullet? If you're talking about his helmet hair from sfiv I always thought that looked stupid too. I think we're at the point processing wise were they can give him his traditional long hair and have it look good and behave somewhat like actual hair. He looks cool as hell in sf3. I don't think that's impossible to duplicate in 3d.

Agree with most people here

Ken looks amazing, movesets fit him perfectly and sits him apart from the rest of the crew, love the clothes and hair to a certain extent

But

... The face, needs a lot of work, literally doesn't look like ken, just fix that and were golden

IMPOSSIBLE!

I dont get it. Why dont the other returning characters wear a different costume? Why is Ken the only one 'redesigned'? Yeah Nash looks different but hes wearing the same clothes from Alpha.

This. I'm guessing this could possibly be our African guy since New Zealand/Australia is not rumored to have a character. I'm currently going through common African tribal face painting to see if I can narrow down if this is a common style.

The Maori aren't African, they're New Zealish lol. And one of the four rumored new characters has no rumored name or origin.

They better get Ruben Langdon back to voice Ken in English. Though if I recall correctly, he's still on Capcom's payroll, so there's a pretty good chance that he'll come back.

They are obviously not going for "realistic" with anything in this game.

Good question. My only guess is I think they are trying to further distance him from being a Ryu clone. So with that, he's the only one that needed to change.

It's cool that they're changing up Ken a bit, but... hopefully they'll take another pass at his face and hair. That closeup looks rough.

This takes place before new generation right? If so, maybe the rigors of parenthood took hold and changed him physically? Could explain the face. This could also be him trying to get back into fighting shape. Training suit and all that.

Yup, so I wasn't going crazy. I'm liking what I'm hearing of the announcer so far.

After I read this post I honestly had to play back the video 3 times before I could even notice the announcer. With headphones!

SFIV announcer: "KAAY OHHHHHH!"

SFV announcer: "k. o."
