Kevin Butler "Moves" from the FUTURE

Even though the Apple ads are numerous, Mac's don't sell substantially more because of them.

I'd imagine it's the same here. When people see a PS3 ad, they know they're going to be entertained...but does it actually translate into a PS3 sale?

I don't really understand the praise Sony gets for running with this ad campaign. I mean, I find em funny, sure. But outside of "Boom" and maybe one or two others, it's nothing but fellating the base.

A bit late, but just saw this. The evil laughter is cracking me up every single time. :lol This guy's brilliant, and his facial expressions are spot-on.

Exactly, if Sony don't go with a "Blue Ocean" marketing strategy for an obvious "Blue Ocean" product like Move, they will have success, but nothing comparable to Nintendo. They have to make their fan base bigger by looking for everyone.

Whatever. It's better to burn out than to fade away. If they're able to give me 30 seconds of entertainment in exchange for potential systems sold, I'd say that's a plus for htem.

No. He talked about how Move can see if the controller is farther away or closer. Clearly a shot at the Wii.

Really?? I thought he was bashing the PS3 controller since that is how it works.

Epically hilarious. So many got butt hurt :lol

Sony must show this on tv.

what? are you referring to another site or......? it's pretty calm in here. hell, i read the youtube comments and even they were pretty civil :lol

also i don't think this one would work as good on tv. this is to stroke their fanbase, not bring in new people. have another commercial spelling it out better for the masses.

Well, advertising is a strange business. The most successful advertisements are the ones that stick with you. Or get people talking. Kind of like the Superbowl ads.

Hey look. You answered your own question.

It's pretty much what DidntKnowJack said. The fact that the ad campaign captivates people's attention (as evidenced by so many responses in this thread) means that it's doing its job.

An ad like this, distinctly reminds me of the oldl Crash Bandicoot ads where a knock-off character tries challenging his older, but superior counter part.

Is it just me or is the actual game going on behind him really laggy?

I guess it's probably a video, not an actual game

The gif is slowed down considerably, so the input lag is more noticeable. Watch the video again at 1x speed, it looks fine.

Yes PS3 commercial bashing PS3, riiiiight.
Really? There was that super nerd commercial and that kid that wouldn't let his grandmother watch movies. Those seem to be mocking those demographics.

Now, that comment itself was incredibly pretentious.
I should have added this ":P" to show it was just a lighthearted joke. Not really serious buddy.

I've changed my mind. Nobody watching that commercial is going to over-analyze it like I did. Oh well, my grumpy nerd side showed up for a minute. People are going to watch it, laugh, and say "oh, I gotta check that out this fall." People like the ads, and that's all it needs to be successful.

here, i paused it the frame after the in-game fighter's elbow makes contact with the head.

anyway, you're right that it's faked- that's just the nature of showbusiness when it comes to off-screen video.

Damn.. I have no love for mation controls. But I will check out the PS3 pink ball thing just because Kevin Butler is the shit.

Much better with the multi glasses gif.

I love it. I hope KB pull a Crash and bring the next commercial to the head quarter of Nintendo or Microsoft.

In the future, the PS3 doesn't need cables.
There is a cable, just that the angle you're viewing it from hides it, check a few frames prior to that, you can see the cable behind it.

dumb argument really, the motion fighter game doesn't even have 1:1 controls, it's all gesturing/waggling crap. If you had seen the GDC stuff you'd know it lags considerably...well, as considerably as any wii game. Fake video in advertisement is fake, oh noes.

Well, those two are both in Redmond, that would make things easier probably somehow.

Well the game's far from complete.
