Kevin Butler "Moves" from the FUTURE

Can I have an explanation for this one? :lol
During the Natal demo they showed a segment where the player played a variation of "Breakout", or those brick breaking games using their arms and hands as the paddles.

It was stupid and looked like it might be fun for like 20 seconds.

I find it ballsy to say `Who wants to pretend his hand is a gun, what is this? third grade?´ while his alternative is a large plastic handle with a glowing pink ball.

No. He talked about how Move can see if the controller is farther away or closer. Clearly a shot at the Wii.
It's pretty easy for Wii to do that, as it just has to calculate the difference between the IR lights from the sensor bar. Plenty of games/applications have you move the controller forward or back to zoom or scale something.

BUT that is only when using it like a pointer; easy enough for "pure waggle" uses to not have the wiimote camera seeing the sensor bar at all.

If Kevin Butler doesn't host Sony's E3 press conference this year I will consider it a failure, no matter what they show.

What if they show the Adventures of Kevin Butler, the newest game from Naughty Dog.

I don't think fictional characters host press conferences. :p

Maybe they'll make an E3 ad with him.

OMG Kevin Butler skin for Uncharted Multiplayer?? O.o :lol

That said: Please make KB star as additional character in Slider.

And Pain.

Sony will be refunding you all your money you spent on the system, and giving you a lifetime supply of first party titles to all past and future ones.

Yes but...you know...I really want KB to host this so it's not like you win or anything. I'll take it but obviously I'm unhappy about the lack of KB.

Sony needs to go balls to the wall with this.

They really shouldnt bash the Wii when all they have shown is Wii clones.
and pretending the dildo is a gun is so much better than pretending your hand is a gun. Who cares, it's a fun ad.

I also like these ads because they really raise awareness long before the holiday season and this product (and natal) comes out.

Really going to push Microsoft to move their ad campaign up if they haven't already. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

Microsoft ad campaign will be the same as Wii

lol this have to hurt the PR team of Big N and MS cant top this for gamers

Wouldn't that involve the wiimote camera having to face the sensor bar which might be awkward and would limit the amount of movement you could actually make. Whereas the PSEye would be able to track the Move's distance regardless of which way the controller is pointed.

Seem too worried about Natal. Not worried enough about taking market share from Nintendo.

Doesn't show people how this is any better than the Wii. People are going to think this is a copycat idea.

I agree, but this is still pretty great..and could spark a hilarious ad war reminiscent of the 90s..
Kevin Butler should definitely make an appearance at E3! :lol

ad was all kinds of awesome. i don't think MS will retaliate in kind but man i would love to see this get Sega/Nintendo levels of ugly. good job Sony, this is my favorite video game ad series in a long, long time.

best KB commercial yet! it would have been +1 had they sneaked some footage of an unannounced Move title on one of the screens though. could have gotten some buzz going.

yeah. especially considering this was made for gamers who have already chosen a side anyway. i don't see this drawing in anybody new because.... well what mom is going to be surfing youtube looking for Sony ads. since they're aimed at gamers anyway i say go balls out. talk mad shit and continue to include cool little background touches. the ones that air on tv can be for the uninformed.

Apple does this stuff against MS and it's entertaining. It's easy to understand why you drop the extra dough.

Even though the Apple ads are numerous, Mac's don't sell substantially more because of them.

I'd imagine it's the same here. When people see a PS3 ad, they know they're going to be entertained...but does it actually translate into a PS3 sale?

I would love to have a gif of when he holds out the move controller during the boxing part and half heartedly waggles it left and right.

Pretty much summed up how I played most of the sword fights in the first Red Steel :lol

These adverts keep getting better and better. I never thought I would like a Sony ad campaign more than the PSP squirrel's but Kevin Butler kills it.

"Who wants to use their hand to pretend like they are shooting a gun? What is this third grade?"
:lol :lol :lol :lol

This thread is going to get really ugly by the next page....

people said it would get ugly in the beginning of the thread too. nothing.

maybe everyone can agree that it's a funny commercial?

just saw this thread :lol KB is fucking great. Where did they find this guy? He does what sony won't yet sony got what they wanted out of this.

These commercials keep getting better. The Geico ads (posted above) felt like they were trying too hard.

A shortened version of this has to make the airwaves somehow.

"Well Reggie, we have a controller and a camera with microphones working together to give you total control of your gaming experience. Not just like this, but this way to. Because real boxers don't hit like this."

I love these. Funny entertaining and they really remind me of the good ol' days where game companies themselves fueled the fanboy flames.

He's the talented Jerry Lambert.
