The ISA invasion fleet is pretty much wiped out, with the remnants of their carrier groups being taken out up by the returning Helghast Battlegroup. ISA Vekta doesn't have any other resources to launch a campaign against Helghan.
Needless Civilian casualties? The entire City where the ISA/Helghast operation happened was evacuated before the ISA even got there. Read the timeline and pay attention people. :lol
The ISA wanted to remove Visari from leadership, or make him co-operate with the rest of mankind as oppose to starving half the colonies of much needed supplies.
Either way they wanted to install a new government, bringing Helghan back under UCA control following Helghans renewed aggression against Earth and any other colony that got in their way.
Would it have worked? Debatable. Keep in mind that Visari was insanely popular with his people, mostly because he was promising them a return to glory, and the blood of those who wronged them, innocent and non innocent alike.
It's like people are frantically grasping at straws to prop up a pro Helghast argument without actually paying much attention to the established cannon of the universe. :lol
It wouldn't be happening if people weren't saying 'these people have cool outfits so I want to help them kill billions of people in cold blood!' :lol
Like I said, scary.
Zen said:Apparently he was actually Snah/Private Hoffman?
cnizzle06 said:Ugh, dude, chill, it's just a video game. And wishing to wear Helghast attire is not 'scary', once again, it's just a video game. Moreover, nothing you mentioned refutes my proposition. ISA could bring back-up, the battle could move to a civilian-occupied area, ect. It sounds like more than anything, you just wish to brag about your killzone superior knowledge. :lol

Zen said:Then at least be honest about it instead of finding ways to try and make your argument appear outwardly reasonable. :lol
Actually your proposition was refutedSure the story could go in a different direction, things could happen, yadda ydda, but those things haven't happened yet, and the argument for being pro Helghast is centered around what has happened, not what might.
It's not like I bust out the 'I've read the timeline' stuff for everything Killzone. It's just when this particular, silly, argument comes up. :lol
Ohhh, the heck? I'd heard that he was Snah. Good to know that he wasn't.
I think when people say 'switching sides' they mean going against the ISA and getting them the fuck off of helghan. Hell I hope the helghast invade Vekta again at the end of this game, but ex-ISA at the head of the front. For all we know Earth and Vekta wanted ISA to strike Helghan not only to clean it out of Vasari and his 'propaganda' but to claim large parts of the planet for resources as well. It was pretty prevalent that the head ISA didn't give much of a shit about the actual squad/the mission they embarked on, even Rico was bright enough to realize it.Zen said:That's a convenient distinction to draw. I'm all for no one murdering Civilians, but that's a heck of a lot different than switching sides like everyone keeps saying.
Zen said:I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up wearing some Helghast stuff here or there for breathing purposes.
I'm with you there. I actually got attached to Sev. He and Garza were the only characters in Killzone 2 I liked.major_killjoy said:Sev succumbing to the effects of lungburn would be depressing in a foxdie-ish sort of way. : (

That would make KZ3 the new GT5. :lol It would be better if they make it like inFamous. Two endings; stay as ISA soldier for " SCUM " ending, join HELGHAST for " LEGEND " ending.MoonsaultSlayer said:Two campaigns, two sides.... FIGHT!!!
I 'd love that.
Yeah, I really hope Brian Cox has some kind of role, either in speeches being played throughout helghan (especially civilian areas) or just narrating the story and possibly even touching on some of the history. How awesome would it be for him to narrate stuff and then at the very end weave him into what's going on on the ground, and show that he's still alive.NotTheGuyYouKill said:Undercover missions would rock. Definitely hoping they ace the storyline this time. I did like Sev as a protagonist even if he wasn't fully developed. Also, I hope Brian Cox comes back in some fasion, even as a narrator for the story.
That would be pretty cool, but it won't happen just yet. Not enough people even know what the UCA is, so i'm hoping earth etc is introduced in this game a bit.Zen said:I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up wearing some Helghast stuff here or there for breathing purposes. I was actually thinking that Killzone 3 would have the ISA and Helghast joining forces to repel the UCA from asserting direct control over the system outright, but that doesn't sound like the direction they're going with it.

cnizzle06 said:Ha, you're trying hard man, but I never mentioned that I had a desire to switch teams just as a means to wear a Helghast uniform. I'm simply pointing out that you're silly to claim people have scary mentalities because they wish to wear one when their damn fictional backstory involves genocide :lol And I'm throwing out a hypothetical situation. Don't tell me I can't because it hasn't happened yet. That's the damn meaning of something being hypothetical. :lol

I want this to be about the Vektan/ISA/Helghast conflict, and getting that settled one way or another, and THEN going back to the source (Earth/UCA).
After all, the ISA/Vekta is under UCA orders, hell they don't even have top of the line equipment as what's back on Earth IIRC.
Zen said:Ha, you're trying hard man, but I never said that you specifically were making that argument.
Hey, if you think it's silly to think it's weird that there are players out there would be gung ho to support genocide, in a fictional setting, more power to you; at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Personally I'd take pause before dreaming that I was aiding in the deaths of billions of innocent people, but whatever. It's not like I don't play as the Helghast in MP 50% of the time, it's just completely different when someone is sitting there hoping that the story ends with the Helghast winning and they were pulling the trigger to make it happen.
IronFistedChampion said:Thanks.![]()
More power to you.cnizzle06 said:No one is supporting genocide here man.:lol You're just putting words in the mouths of those who wish to play as a Helghast. Stop being so crazy. :lol I appreciate your passion for the killzone universe, but most of us just wanna play on their side because they're cool and iconic and are fed up with the arrogance of the ISA, not because we <3 Nazis.
Dude, that's exactly what I want. Opposing Helghan factions were touched upon briefly, It would be so awesome if Hakah came back and organised them into a proper force and Sev joins them.Zen said:Heck, they didn't even have the capability to strike at Helghan until the UCA gave them outdated carriers. It's probably too early to introduce the UCA as potential big bads. I'm really happy that they're apparently focusing on Helghast culture in Killzone 3. I want the Helghast to be made more than monstache twirling villains, and I'd sort of like it if we see Hakah organizing a revolution on Helghan, or something.

Well apparently there are several leaders or parties trying to reclaim the throne that Vasari left behind, but i'm we don't know if they're all ex-military war lords or the charismatic political type.Zen said:Heck, they didn't even have the capability to strike at Helghan until the UCA gave them outdated carriers. Visari is still alive :OSentry said:Well apparently there are several leaders or parties trying to reclaim the throne that Vasari left behind, but i'm we don't know if they're all ex-military war lords or the charismatic political type.
Either way I hope the civilians of Helghan are disjointed and we get to see that.

theignoramus said:what the fuck is that song playing in the background of the trailer? Is it from a commercial track?
Yeah, i'm hoping that was due to the fact that so, so much time went into the engine, visuals, performance, etc (technical stuff) more so than story, character etc.Zen said:I sure hope so, they let me down so hard with how narrow the scope of Killzone 2 was, I wasnted to see civilians, darnit! :lol
I think their focus on actually crafting the engine at the very least hindered the variety in Killzone 2. They didn't suddenly ignore the jetpacks and other cool ideas they came up with for Liberation just for the hell of it. The fact that all of this is back for Killzone 3 implies they were very much hindered by time with the last game.Sentry said:Yeah, i'm hoping that was due to the fact that so, so much time went into the engine, visuals, performance, etc (technical stuff) more so than story, character etc.
Now that they have most of the technical side locked down, other than adding new features here and there (see 3D), it'll be a good opportunity for GG to show how well they can tell a story.

No problem, but i'm pretty sure someone else has a static avatar of that shot as well.. probably not a good idea, but if it's ok with them then who cares.
Though I made another version that's up for grabs, unless you want it (made two versions for personal preference);
