Reading the 'games that haven't been remade' thread made me curious if we'll see more entries in these two series.
Resistance is a fantastic aesthetic and setting that I don't think ever got a satisfactory finale. We left R2 with Nathan Hale essentially a Chimera and claiming this was just the beginning and then skip forward to old Joseph Capelli in what ultimately feels like a side story (fantastic story yes, but still a side story) more than a payoff of the previous events and I feel there isn't much closure on the series as a whole. By the end of 3, nothing has really changed. IIRC Insomniac said they were essentially done with the series, but I wonder and hope Sony will eventually continue or fill in the blanks with a new game rather than a complete reboot years later.
Killzone's story similarly felt unfinished with a huge timeskip between 3 and Shadow Fall. The loose ends don't bother me as much in Killzone, but there is certainly a ton they could do with the universe and I'd love to see what they'd do in a new entry.
So what is the general opinion on this? Are these franchises dead forever? dormant for years until someone makes a new game which is just a reboot? Personally, I feel like once a series goes several years, any returns to it end up being a reboot so newcomers aren't left out which is a bit disappointing. I mean, hell I waited decades for the completion of the Dark Tower series...
