KING KONG XBOX to XBOX 360 comparison pic

Makes me wonder what engine Madden 2007 on PC will be based on, PS2 or PS3?

360 actually. In the latest Game Informer, EA states that the idea behind Madden 06 for the 360 was to create the foundation for the next game Madden experience. That doesn't sound like a massive engine overhaul is in the works for the PS3 launch.

Why does the PC game look like shit and the X360 game look great. Unless those "PC" screens posted are really from the xbox version. But I dont understand why companies would release the pc version as a port of the xbox game. PC owners are the biggest graphics whores of them all, they flock to things like that. The game could get free publicity from being used in benchmarks on countless websites read by gamers. Instead they release crap. Makes me wonder what engine Madden 2007 on PC will be based on, PS2 or PS3?
IMHO it's mainly it's "easy" to upgrade a game for a fixed platform like Xbox 360, but it's a tad more difficult to do so on PC when you can't be sure the graphics card will be able to use a certain shader or something like that.
Either that or MS' moneyhats :p

Plus, I don't think it's targeted at the hardcore PC crowd. It's meant to grab up some of the movie hype and translate that over into game sales.

No rain, no sale! ;)

I think I might get it but only 2nd hand, don't think it would be worth ÂŁ40-50

That's why Next Gen sucks. Most of the titles seem to have gone that route. Just slap a little bump/parallax mapping on there, and OMG NEXT GEN IS HERE.

Well King Kong is a PS2 game foremost. Xbox and PC versions are PS2 ports.

I don't understand the purpose of this thread. It has been said publicly it's a port.
Safe that it did receive a graphical upgrade for the 360, it is still a port and not "next-gen" the slightest bit.

I think people are gazing at King Kong because the cool factor of the game is high and well, natural envirronements and the setting of the game is nice. It makes people forget about the technical side of the game. Pretty much like RE4 isn't technically demanding bit so impressive to look at.

This thread seriously make me think that we may be reaching the point where more graphical power will start being useless to sell games pretty soon...

point of diminishing returns already? Nintendo is right to count into something else than fast chips???

It looks good enough, but i'm more interested in knowing if the game is really as good as some people are saying. Mixing fps and 3rd person beat em up doesn't sound right for my experience, but hopefully i'll be proven wrong.

I gave it a go. The original picture doesn't really capture much. The dynamic lighting in the room with the fire pit is really nice and the audio of the rain and thunder combinded with the corresponding dynamic lighting as a result was excellent. The rain was there, by the way.

The camera angles while playing as Kong zoomed in and out nicely and some of the other effects (screen distortion with audio, texture mapping, etc) are pulled off for some nice effects on the 360.

I did notice the "artifacting" issues commented on in previous thread with the demo 360's. In fact, while I was getting tail whipped by the T-Rex, his model went to a solid blue sillhouette for at least three seconds. It was jarring. No slow down otherwise, just the model omission.

The audio and visuals atrracted some spectators, if that tells you anything. Lots of hushed "whoas" and "wows."
