Just read the story and statement, and wow, the dude lost his mind! He took breaking bad to a whole new level!

I found it funny at how many people simply call it the LRA instead of the "Lord Resistance Army". For years people have know about this "christian terrorist group", yet kony hasn't been on the bullseye end of the war on terror yet.

I for one am glad this happened.

This was not a real attempt to help the child soldiers of the LRA, more a cheap cash in by this neo-christian cult movement Invisible Children.

Only a third of the money raised actually went to Africa! ..... what a fucking scam.


This guy is as much guilty of using the children of the LRA for his own means as Joseph Kony is.

I haven't followed this whole mess too closely, but what do you think of the claim that most of the money was used to raise awareness of the issue? From what I can tell, they didn't raise THAT much money. If they would have just sent it all as aid or whatever, would that have helped more than literally most of America and the world now being aware of the KONY issue?

First of all the campaign is full of factual inaccuracies, showing that this group of fools do not know what they are talking about.

Secondly, the group has a vast output of videos, and very little if any apart from the Kony 2012 video has anything to do with Joseph Kony or the child soldiers of the LRA.

That smells like a sudden jumping on to a cause to promote themselves through this situation.

As is shown the Charlie Brooker video, this guy's MO is to convert people to Christianity, and as he says it is better done in a secret, underhanded method.

This "campaign" will do nothing to stop Joseph Kony (they can't even get the groups current location correct) or help free and rehabilitate the child soldiers.

There are many groups on the African continent that are doing the real work on the ground trying to help former child soldiers get over the horrific things they have seen or been forced to do.

Also child soldiers are not exclusive to the LRA, they have been and are used by many groups in Africa and Asia.

No this is some self important, self promoting moron trying to gather more people to his invisible children cultist group ..... and a pervert it seems also.

Quite a lesson to people who seek to play social networking in the future. The more impact you have, the more scrutiny you will come under. So you better make sure your house is in order and your message is sound, because once you start asking people for money they will start looking very hard indeed.

Even with his delusions of grandeur he couldn't cope with that.

That's my problem with this situation, these IC arseholes fucked up so bad that plenty of people will now dismiss LRA and the people involved as not worth worrying about.

I think they could still have milked credulous dipshits for quite a bit of money and quite a bit longer.

I think they're always a load of shit and are primarily just a case of people jumping on the bandwagon without knowing the facts
If people want to make changes in the world then just donate to legit charities where the money will go to where it is needed most, not to some religious nut and his emotional video

So, I somehow missed the boat on this. Saw "KONY 2012" crop up here and there but just dismissed it as the latest Twitter fad or whatever.

Reading through the thread now. Almost can't believe people are this gullible (how on earth do you view something like this without once stopping to question the motives?), but oh well. Was worth it just for this exchange:

It is serious business, but Kony isn't really that relevant nowadays and focus on stability in that region as a whole is the best approach to help the few remaining child soldiers in the LRA.

Not the dipshit strategy that IC are promoting.
