Oh, so now you want to bring PC into the argument?
Sure, why not. If we compare three things versus two things, the hyperbole changes, because the scale of where those three things fall gets larger. But this is OT so I will let it be.
Oh, so now you want to bring PC into the argument?
I think it's due to the rumors that XB1 dev tools are "less mature" and assuming (logically) that maturity level has a ceiling. PS4 tools are closer to said ceiling while XB1 tools have further to go as they are broken/buggy/etc....
"Another league" is something like Wii U vs. PS4. That's different generations of tech. I don't know why anyone would expect that, but it's not important.
For systems coming out at the same time, both aiming for a certain type of demographic, and the one costing a whole $100 more... for the difference to be this huge - and, as I said, technically, it is - it's bad. There's no other way to put it.
No irony in what I speak. I am a fanboy of the only real gaming system, the personal computing device. I won't lie. There is literally no reason at all for competing gaming devices in 2013/2014. It's billions wasted on R&D when all developers have to do is develop for one PC. It's not 1993 anymore.
Playstation/Xbox need to be a brand of PC games, not almost going under with the money wasted on R&D every time you want to start a new console gen.
Invalid comparisons. For one, Kinect has value, two, no way 1440p is only 700 more, unless your excluding monitor costs. The point of this hyperbole call out was that everything is relative.
I disagree people will target 720p for PS4. 1080p is going to be Sony first party's standard I think. Still, if The Order is everything they're claiming, the 30fps targeted exclusives are going to be something else compared to everything that's been shown.
I feel like the $100 comment is a straw man/fanboy argument because it ignores Kinect. I don't disagree that some folks don't value it all, but ignoring its presence in value comparisons outside your own preferences is disingenuous IMO.
is this the new "Sony will have the same DRM also. Just wait!!"?
The fact that we are getting 1 single <1080p game at launch with little familiarity with the hardware and dev tools leads to a very simple conclusion that we will see BETTER use of 1080p as the gen gets rolling, not LESS use of it (on PS4 that is)
Yup I guess gaming forums are no longer filled with excited gamers, but whiney brand loyal consumers.
Lol solution: MS upgrade the gpu right now... All the Xboxes that were already manufactured with the current gpu, recall. Set up tech stations at all the major retailers such as best buy, target, walmart and let people bring their Xboxes to be replaced, upgrade the old ones as they come in, and get rid of the damn Kinect. TUHHDAAAHHHH![]()
*Excellence*
Ah, yes. Because the reason most people are siding PS4 is "brand loyalty". What with MS having built up none of that from this current gen. And Sony having not lost any of that this current gen. And what with MS having a perfect product and message that consumers attached to from the moment of the reveal. And what with Sony not making any smart decisions that lead to a turnover in console preference in their favor.
It's obvious, isn't it?
The only reason the majority of the internet is in favor of PS4 is brand loyalty.
Oh yeah, total cluster fuck MS. I just can't get over it, $100 cheaper and so much more powerful, they will destroy them in sales. Take the Kinect out atleast and sell it for $300 maybe? Lolit would be cheaper to crush them. but this is way OT.
when a Jackfrags starts saying ps4 MP looks better than xb1 SP, its official that something was f'd up bad somewhere.
And word spreads like the flu now, his 30000 followers create word of mouth real fast.
Doesn't Return of the King mean anything to you?People make it sound like the PS4 is the second coming of Christ, jeez and then hunt down and belittle anyone that actually likes the XBO or its games.
PS4 is now a douchey religion
What are you arguing? I've agreed with all of the metrics. But looking at the videos, the Xbone looks fine to me. Don't think thats controversial. In fact, the article in the OP is pretty heartening.

I didn't realize you were making an entirely subjective case.
Nevermind then. Carry on and enjoy. Cheers!![]()
To be perfectly honest, it doesn't. We're weeks away from launch and Microsoft really hasn't made much of a case for it being essential.

Voice commands not worth the extra 150? PFFFT. Shows how much you love the "future"!To be perfectly honest, it doesn't. We're weeks away from launch and Microsoft really hasn't made much of a case for it being essential.

Xbox 360 had some great looking games late in the gen and it definitely managed to stand up to a lot of PS3's exclusives. But I simply can't imagine that Xbox One devs will continue to improve while Sony's developers will stagnate.
Didn't say "essential" said "value". Its in the box, it wasn't free to produce, it adds functionality not present without it. You may not value it's value, but arguing it has no objective value is disingenuous.

That's a pretty worthless argument then.
Let's say Microsoft decided to pack in three pounds of actual shit, combined with a sack of vomit. Now, you'd be surprised: this is not free. It is a value. it costs money to hire people to sit around and vomit into sacks all day. Unsurprisingly, it costs money to hire men to collect their shit all day into containers. Should we be saying "well, sure, you may not like it, but it's in the box, and it has a value. No use in trying to argue otherwise"?
Of course not. The value has to be present to the person buying the system itself, or else it effectively means nothing to that consumer.

Really? In live action sequences, Where your paying absolutely no attention to anything besides killing the guys trying to kill you, you can point out jagged edges and other res differences without explicitly looking for them? i call bullshit
No but I feel like if the hardware was skimped on in order to put a Kinect in the box, why is there STILL a $100 price difference?
Xbox One and PS4 are like different types of Subway sandwiches, but honestly the Xbox One is an Italian BMT while the PS4 is a Chicken Teriyaki club. The problem with the Xbox One right now is that the server doesnt know how to use the toaster, so every time he puts the Italian bread into the toaster, it literally catches on fire and burns the entire Subway down. So youre standing there, waiting for your sub sandwich, the clerk is screaming, AHHH! AHHH! SOMEONE HELP ME! MY HAIR IS ON FIRE AHHH! and youre like, Id like to have my sandwich please, but the clerk is just running around literally with his head on fire screaming, I NEED MY SANDWICH FELLOWS! So he goes into the back room to get his Sandwich Fellows but the Sandwich Fellows just make it worse because they dont actually exist.
Anyway, the Subway is now completely on fire and the clerk has his head in the sink. So finally, his hair is no longer on fire but now there is fire extinguisher exhaust literally everywhere on the sub ingredient area. So you tell the clerk you dont really want a sub anymore but he holds a knife to your throat and is like, I WILL CUT YOU! so you have to learn to balance the special needs of the clerk with whatever your natural desire to have a sandwich is. Eventually, you say, ok, its good enough, so you order the Italian BMT with extra olives and peppers. But when the clerk, now with no hair and with a knife pointed squarely at your throat, goes over to the olives he realizes there ARE NO MORE OLIVES LEFT OVER BECAUSE THEY ALL BURNED DOWN so he goes on Twitter and asks Polygon to start spreading rumors that you NEVER ACTUALLY ORDERED olives. When you say you wanted olives and show the clerk video from the security feed of yourself ordering olives, he literally walks you outside the store and starts beating you over the head with the Italian bread (which is of course burnt since it was on fire). Eventually you say fine, Im done with this shit and the Polygon twitter bans you anyway because you dont understand how the industry works.
Meanwhile the PS4 is like walking up to the counter and there is a really sexy dude and/or lady behind the counter wearing a perfectly tailored suit and/or pantsuit. You go to order the sub but the clerk already knows what you want and he/she is already making it. And you say, How did you know that? and it turns out the clerk is actually @yosp and he has four arms, two of which belong to David Cage (who is standing behind @yosp). So you walk out of the Subway and you are like, Wow, that was surprising, and there, on the other side of the street, is the guy being beat over the head with the burnt Italian bread by the clerk with the building on fire and youre like, oh. This makes perfect sense.

So if you're buying a console for Battlefield alone, sure, get a PS4....Ok that's fine, let's get rid of it. Now you have two $400 consoles and one has visibly worse performance.
So if you're buying a console for Battlefield alone, sure, get a PS4....
Why paying $100 more for worse resolution?

So if the business model is dated and has lead the industry into a sort of slump. It's popular but people won't often go out for the brand new $60 game. Why did "gamers" embrace the same dated model yet refused a model that to me could have become similar to Steam, sure pretty restricted and different, but better for the consumer than the actual $60 + social media OS, because SOny actually touted that feature.
My statement is Battlefield (or clear differences in visual performance for that matter) isnt the only thing that could be considered of value when considering purchasing either console for some people. So your statement is that Battlefield will be the only game to show clear differences in visual performance?
Keep in mind that this is the only game on PS4's roster that is not pixel matching the majority of high def displays. Once we see straight 1080p pixel matching, it becomes even more obvious, especially if there's still a lack of AA on the lower res game.
Not I, and like 99% others who are getting the xbone. I am canceling the xbone as soon as I find a ps4 to preorder and get it on day 1. Getting the xbone when they do sell it Kinect less. How many people buying the Bone would actually buy Kinect if it were separate?
How did you miss that news? So many meltdowns came of it.
I would. And seeing the amount of people buying the PS EYE with the PS4, I think the numbers would surprise you.How many people buying the Bone would actually buy Kinect if it were separate?
