because console gamers have been telling PC gamers it doesn't matter for the past decade
now because it's on someone's console of choice it matters. while to the other side, it still doesn't matter
got em coach.

So it doesn't matter then, outside of platform warriors?
My god nobody cares about this crap. I own both system both look great. I play my Xbone more because it has better games. I played PS4 for a solid week until Xbone was released.
Haven't touch it since. They need games.
Clearly some people care. You obviously mean "I don't care about this fact".
Of course people care, but there isn't enough of a difference to lose sleep over.
So you're alleging that there was a backroom deal between the reviewer and the publisher, simply because their score didn't align with the number in your mind?

I've been gaming on pc at 1080p for ages and watching all tv in full hd. Every time I try to watch something at 720p I spot the difference instantly and its pretty disappointing. Maybe it's my eyes God only knows but it's a very obvious difference from 720p to 1080p for me.
Not with the same graphical fidelty as PS4. If that is your measure, then PS360 were 1080p consoles as well.
Not at all. I am just saying that for launches it seems reviewers have a hard time giving games lower scores (note, the review reads to me a lot lower) because it is a new system. I don't think any review place (including Polygon) have "backroom" deals for scores.

And I fully expect this gen to be a 720p gen. The first thing that suffers when devs look for more power is resolution.
Correct. Kinect likely costs an extra $80 - $120.
But it's not. I have both systems and I play Xbox One much more than my PS4 because I like the games better, and all my friends stayed with Xbox. The Resolution thing doesn't even matter to 99% of most people buying these consoles. This time around it's going to be where peoples friends play, since we now live in a socially connected world. Anyways, I love both systems, but based on what I've seen so far Ryse is the best looking next gen title hands down!
That's if the xbone games resolution doesn't increase.
Which I think it will.
Are you playing any multiplatform games on Xbox One? I hope you don't think the Xbox One doesn't need more games for launch window soon.My god nobody cares about this crap. Out of curiosity, how did the resolution of Ps3/Xbox 360 games alter as the generation progressed?
Agreed, the Xbone won't go far with a 2005 resolution in 2013.
With the exception of Halo Microsoft has shot all is ammunition, whereas Sony has barely fired anything. Do you think naughty dog, thatgamecompany, media molecule, polyphony digital, team ICO, Santa Monica, sucker punch, quantic dream, Insomniac are siting on their hands???
With the exception of killzone Sony hasnt fired any of their big guns....yet.

Own an XB1 and of course it matters.
Why is this still a topic worthy of discussion? 1080p is better than 720p, most people will notice the difference, and it all comes down to the games. The end. I swear, "game journalists" seem to love to just keep reigniting this silly argument.

I wonder if it really matters. A lot of people will be playing on 720p television sets. I wonder if there are statistics on that.

Forza, Dead Rising and Ryse don't strike me as system sellers. Neither have them.He makes a good point. Microsoft has the exclusives at launch. Outside of a 399 price point the PS4 does not offer anything compelling over the Xbone. If you care about full 1080 at 60fps then so be it, if not, why get the 4 at launch?
But his argument is the same as yours, so what's the problem?
More games started to dip below 720p.
I think the biggest concern is the future.
What happens when these ps4 games need to be at 720p in 3-4 years? What will Xbox one games be?
It comes well after the biggest holiday sales weekend of the year, and well after all the nonsense from other media outlets.
