However this game will not sell. I have said many times 50s don't sell.
Dogenzaka said:Bioshock didn't sell...?
There's actually nothing new here that we didn't know already because of leaks and rumors, but the part about progressing "through a series of "desks" in the department, including traffic, vice and, ultimately, homicide" is new. Guess that will be one of the ways to show some kind of character progression/evolution. Sounds cool.
Dogenzaka said:I'm not trying to troll, but, is anyone else a bit more worried than before about how the quality of this game will end up now because it's going to be multi-platform?
tino said:Nowhere close to the authentic 50s. Many of the BioShock steanpunk designs are from Jules Vernes era (pre-20th century).
No_Style said:It really depends on the developer and publisher. In this case, we're not even sure what engine they're using to make L.A Noire. If it was RAGE, I'd be less worried as they used that in GTAIV. If it was a new engine? Hmm...
It's not completely out of the realm of possibility, but I think both versions will be well optimised; also, if McNamara's history is anything to go by, he won't want to make his game any less great than his vision.Dogenzaka said:I'm not trying to troll, but, is anyone else a bit more worried than before about how the quality of this game will end up now because it's going to be multi-platform?

I've noticed exclusive games in this generation generally ending up to be better critically-accepted games, and multi-platform games are usually missing pieces of content and re-releasing as DLC, or having stuff cut out, or having unequal versions among the platforms.
My favorite games this gen are exclusive, and I suppose because of the extra focus on one console, one target, and a close bond/funding with their respective console's company, it really tends to drive quality, as far as I see.
Like I said, just honestly asking if this was a concern of anyone else's?
I mean I really should be concerned for other reasons, such as its long development cycle and the fact that we haven't seen any gameplay yet. But this is a factor as well for me.

tino said:You know what I meant. Post-WW2, communism paranoia, black-and-white, ugly American car roaming, where people were still guided by the pre-war morale...era.
There is no popular 50's property besides James Ellroy novels. It rings right up there with WWI for the people don't give a shit time period.

Yeah, glad they seem to have stayed with the concept. Probably the game I'm most looking forward to. Again.Alpha-Bromega said:The 40's post WW2 era might not be dudebro: explosion material but for any fan of detective/noir films this is a dream come true.

If they can pull this off, it'll be pretty brilliant.
