LA Noire to be 3 discs on Xbox 360

I dunno I always get the feeling that these news posts always seem to imply some sort of disparagement of the 360's DVD format. I mean come on, the developer of the game is not going to make it so that the disc switching makes the game somehow unplayable or not enjoyable. The 360 uses the DVD format, get over it. Play it on whatever system you like best and stop worrying about some minor minor inconvenience like switching a disk every 20 hours.

Yeah I do tend to agree but I'd rather just ignore the idiots who use stuff like this to promote their "team", it's just not worth it. From my perspective, I'm not desperate to play this day and date, so if overall the PS3 version has a lot of minor advantages like this then I'll probably just wait until I pick one up to play it.

And I'm not saying that it's not relevant, just that all those "lol disc swapping" and "defending disc swapping, really?" posts are silly.

Well a lot of people making those posts have been stuck without online games for a couple of weeks now, cut them a little slack ;)

I'd rather get up to change the disk every 5 hours than have uncompressed audio and a non gimped game, but it's still a hassle I'd rather do without. I'd get it on PS3 if it weren't for my friends list and the achievements.

People defended a company that allowed 101 million accounts be compromised. This is nothing.
Allowed huh? Bwahaha, wow. All kinds of crazy going on in this thread.

Im out of the firmware loop but are games allowed to use the new 360 disc format yet?

Wait does the game have multi? I thought it didn't?

Batman AA sold more on PS3. And did you really just say that about paying 3 vs 1?

Regardless, 1 disc>>multiple. Games are getting bigger and require more space. Even nintendo gets it. ;)

1st part was a joke, I was serious about my second paragraph though.

This is quite hilarious. The DVD medium is becoming more and more straining.

It's like hearing a beam of pure wisdom straight from 2004.

No shit. It will be replaced in the next console, you'd have to be goddamn retarded if you didn't get used to this concept back in 2005. Every storage medium will eventually run out of space, then be replaced by another.

Don't see what the problem is. You get 3 discs for the same 59.99 price instead of just 1.

Also L.A. Noire is guaranteed to sell better on 360 than PS3 regardless of the disc issue. Just as Portal 2 on 360 sold better, just as almost every 360 version of a game sells better. Don't know why these kind of insignificant things are always posted.

Nice spin

But I honestly don't see the connection between selling better and being better. But obviously that is what matters to you.

Was RDR worse on PS3?

Doesn't the PS3 version of LA NOIRE have exclusive content also?

I remember the foliage especially being a lot worse in the PS3, RDR also had a PS3 exclusive hideout. This has a PS3 exclusive case on top of all the other different preorder cases.

The disk swapping was annoying in Castlevania but if they do it right I don't think it'll matter for LA Noire, they'd have to be amazingly incompetent developers to not have access to the entire city on one disk. I'll still gamefly it for 360 just for controller preference.

I know switching disks really isn't a hassle. It isn't! But come on, it's 2011 for Christ's sake.

It's 2011, but it's not like the 360 can just suddenly evolve its DVD drive into a Blu-ray drive just because its 2011.

Knowing Rockstar the 360 version will look better. Disc swapping is no big deal to me.

This game isn't developed by Rockstar so it doesn't run on their RAGE engine. It runs on Team Bondi's own engine.

Doesn't really affect my purchasing decision if the IQ between the two versions are like RDR.

Know one know,It's not even in the same engine as RDR, it's not even developed by Rockstar studios.

if you care about IQ I'd say wait for Digital Foundry word before your buy.

Slightly inferior in a number of areas including framerate and resolution. Digital Foundry has a nice breakdown.

Many people probably won't notice it unless they're side by side, but when you have both consoles? Why compromise?

Exclusive content doesn't persuade me as much when it doesn't run or look as good as the other platform.

It's not RAGE engine. But if the differences between the two games are as significant as they were between the two consoles, I'll be picking up the better one. I was simply stating that the number of discs doesn't affect my purchase decision.

Why are people still going on about uncompressed audio? Nobody does that, it's nonsense. Anyway, this game is using huge amounts of space because of the animation streaming they use for the characters' faces.

I prefer the 360 controller, but with the signs saying ps3 version and only having about 40 gigs left in my 250 gig HD on 360 I don't want one game taking up like 25 gigs. I could delete things but I need space for Mass Effect 3, gears 3 and other stuff.

Oops, didn't know that. Thanks for the correction.

I probably will wait for DF. Though controller is another factor.

Not for games at least.

Agreed. Pushing uncompressed audio around sucks system bandwidth. Even if you output uncompressed audio, it doesn't mean the source data was uncompressed.

Oh well, I don't mind changing discs in a couple of hours in. Like said in the interview, you won't have to switch them right in the middle of a case.

Movies use lossless codecs for storing audio, it's not uncompressed.

Indeed.

Sorry for being offtopic but when will it be released?

Lossless codecs, uncompressed, whatever. I only hope the voice samples do not sound like shit, like in Grand Theft Auto 4 and many other current-gen games.

Well, Sony did drop them for taking so much money and time on this game.

They might be amazingly incompetent. This is their 1st game, right?

So where are all the people that was saying that Sony was forcing Blu-ray down everyone's throat?

I guess 1 Blu-ray is easier to swallow than 3 DVDs.

Well that sucks, but the 360 version will still look/run slightly better on 360. Since I have a PS360 I'll get the 360 version.

Why do I feel that I am the only person on the internet without a time machine?

I must have one!

The PS3 version runs slightly worse on 360, but hey! as long as it's the same game, who cares?

If you can install the entire game on the HDD and play off of Disc 1, I see no problem.

Getting the PS3 version though...

Because it is always this way. It was that way with Final Fantasy XIII, Burnout Paradise, Portal 2, etc.

You can also lend the game to other people once you finish the first third of the game
So long as you don't have to switch BACK to disc 1 later, like you did in Mass Effect 2 for example.

Where can I get info on the different preorder bonuses? Are any looking better than the others?

HK Blurays still use Uncompressed in addition to DTS HD and DolbyHD these days. Don't ask me why, waste of disc space.

multiple discs always bum me out because it gives you a physical queue how far you've finished the game. Double the suck when the split is fucking 80/20 *looks at xenogears*

The clarification of the disc swapping only happening twice is all that really mattered to me.

I'd have waited until I saw which version was better but my PS3 is broken so its 360 for me when I get it. Having it on one disc is just convenient if it doesn't affect the gameplay then personally im not fussed.

Is this a fact or did you just pull that out of you ass?
