People love being stuck in 2007 brah. It's amusing.

I'm pretty sure the MotionScan tech just captures animation data.Ether_Snake said:I'm guessing this is video data from captured performances projected on the faces when they talk. Hence the more cinematics, the more video data needed on disc. Why do people believe this is sound-related? Has it been confirmed?
Ickman3400 said:Yeah I remember playing FF7 and getting like 20+ hours into the game and still on disc 1. I actually felt like I had played over 2 full games of content since at that time it was rare to have extremely long games. Having multiple discs back then was great.
Now it's awful because you have a format that 1 system is using that stores up to 50gb on 1 disc so it's viewed as a weakness when the other system is pushing 2 or 3.
Now if a ps3 game ever had 2 discs....my god.
What?? That's stupid. What about rumble and achievements??SuperSonic1305 said:This hasn't been true for over a year. Pretty much every EA game, for example, is now PS3 lead.
Falt said:Maybe this has been brought up already but does this mean that we won't be able to install LA Noire?
The only multi-disc game I tried to install was Lost Odyssey, to no avail.
Side Note: Day 1, Disc 1.
I'm pretty sure that the Wii discs are just standard DVDs, which means they can store up to ~8.5GB on a dual layered DVD. The "new" 360 discs are still regular DVD9, but because of some anti-piracy stuff on the discs they can't store more than ~7.8GB iirc.AbsoluteZero said:I realize you're trollin' but you do realize that Wii discs hold roughly the same capacity as a standard DVD, right? (Not including the 360's new disc format, of course)
No PS3 I assume?seat said:Three discs? That's cool. Epic games on multiple discs never bothered me.
So there's basically no point doing it.Papercuts said:Not sure about LO but you can install multidisk games, still have to switch disks at the appropriate times however.
No noise from the DVD drive and no wear and tear on the discs/DVD reader.Gary Whitta said:So there's basically no point doing it.

There is at least that; it certainly doesn't seem to make data access any faster.AndyMoogle said:No noise from the DVD drive and no wear and tear on the discs/DVD reader.
I got Tiger Woods for the PS3 and forgot how loud it was after playing Dead Space 2 on my 360 with the disc installed.AndyMoogle said:No noise from the DVD drive and no wear and tear on the discs/DVD reader.
Some games benefits from installing. Bad Company 2 definitely does it for example.Gary Whitta said:There is at least that; it certainly doesn't seem to make data access any faster.
LiquidMetal14 said:No PS3 I assume?
I have one. It stays with my girlfriend. Otherwise, I'd get the PS3 version of LA Noire if it ends up being better. But multiple discs is not, and has never been, a factor in my decisions for deciding on multi-platform games. That's just silly.LiquidMetal14 said:No PS3 I assume?
soldat7 said:I have a PS3 and couldn't care less if a game is multi-disc. If it's technically superior on the 360, like RDR, then I'll get it there despite being multi-disc. Otherwise I'll go PS3.

I can't wait to see this argument pop up for every single slightly negative Xbox related news for the next ten years.Chrange said:So did the 'LOL DEFENDING DISC SWAPPING HOW ABSURD' thing which is really the only reason I brought it up at all. It's funny how some consider disc swapping a huge deal and 101 million accounts compromised no big thing lol

No, should have clarified, I mean for chatting to my friends whilst I'm playing. Of course in this game particularly I'll have to lower their voices quite frequently during interrogation scenes but it does make a huge difference being able to talk to my friends whilst performing mundane tasks like driving across a city to access a mission.chubigans said:Wait does the game have multi? I thought it didn't?

WrikaWrek said:Cool, that means the game wasn't compromised by storage medium.
It's good news. Anybody who thinks swapping discs is a big deal need to get an head check.

Gacha-pin said:360 box must be like a deluxe edition compared with a thin box of PS3 version.
btw, how many spaces are occupied by the retailer bonus which not all the users can access to.
Kinda like MvC3 and look how well the ps3 version turned out..oh.Square Triangle said:Just from my assumption stand-point, the PS3 version will be the better one. This is just going off of the game's history, exclusive PS3 content and the developers ONLY showing PS3 footage. Also it's a different engine, the rage engine used for RDR and GTAIV did run better on the 360.
chandoog said:Oh there's a pretty big noticeable difference in a lot of games that have fixed point loading locations, Orange Box, GTA etc, it even improves streaming in heavy games like GTA IV making pop up near non-existent.
mintylurb said:I really really doubt the ps3 version will be technically better than the 360 version. If it is then I'll buy a copy of the ps3 version and send it to Chrange.
Papercuts said:Yup, the disk swap actually made the hardest mode of DS2 easier since it counted as a checkpoint.

Wow, that would be amazing wouldn't it, I always liked the feeling of beating a disc in the old PS1 days.H_Prestige said:If Versus is two blu ray discs, then that would give me the same feeling of awe as the multidisc ps1 FF games.
I thought the 360 version slowed down during specials and PS3 didn't?mintylurb said:Kinda like MvC3 and look how well the ps3 version turned out..oh.

Skiesofwonder said:Well, if I had a PS3 then I would totally be buying that version.
Should be interesting now to see how the sales of the console versions play out for L.A. Noire.
I'm a bit of a trophy whore as well. If I owned my own 360, and this game was technically better on 360, I'd still buy the PS3 version because of trophies. What have I become....GrandHarrier said:Doesn't bother me. Still have it preordered for the 360.
What can I say, I like achievements.
The Lamp said:You okay bro? You seem pretty riled up over a short comment.
I'm well aware that (hopefully) the DVD medium will be gone by next-gen.
By the way guys, the version they keep showing in the videos is the PS3 version (I think).
