Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword E3 trailer

Look at SS Zelda is like looking at one of those threads where people post "You Lose if You Fall in Love" and it's followed by extremely cute girls' faces. I've never considered Zelda "hot" or even "cute" in any of her previous incarnation, but this design is definitely nice.
Yeah you and me both, it's kinda weird to me. It's an interesting design choice they made for Zelda.

I made her my desktop wallpaper, too:

I love ultra high quality official art...

I am on the fence of buying a Wii for a long time...

....and by God I am so tempted to buy one just for this game.

It's been a long while since a game made a feeling like this for me just due to the previews/media :o

Wallpaper I've just made. Thought I'd share it. Nothing special, but I was hoping to inspire some greater digital artist to put something together and share it.

Looks good! I'm using it now, thanks.

I'm going to experiment with it and see if I can get the sky to look more paint-y, like the art. Can I have a link to the source of the sky background possibly?

EDIT: Don't worry, found it!

They have videos of the roundtable? I hope it has the Zelda level in Mario...

Also, those are pretty awesome wallpapers.

I would like to see what one could do with the Zelda art, though. The proportions for that aren't very good for 16x9 wallpapers, and I had trouble fitting in what I wanted to fit.

Can't seem to load this properly in Firefox. Any help?
Can't do it either in safari.

EDIT: yup, clearing the cache does the trick just fine.

EDIT 2: looks almost exactly like the tears in TP only more fun (I hope).

Here's another variation for anybody interested. Coen's design, I just made the sky match the artwork a bit better. Both are 1680x1050. If you anybody reeeeaaally wants any adjustments in size, just let me know.
I made 2 different versions. Both have the bird aligned just above the Windows 7 taskbar.

Click to enlarge. I'm using the first one and it looks pretty great!

Zelda Williams favourite Zelda game is Majora's Mask....there goes any interest I had.

Good see there's a beaming light from the sky shining straight onto to the tear drops, should make them easier to find.

I don't like that the Siren world is basically Twilight Realm meets Phantom Hourglass's endless tower. Sounds rather uninspired. I keep looking forward to it, though.

Yeah, this mechanic is becoming tiring...

I still think it looks like an incredible game though, and I can't wait to play it!

Game looks fantastic, but I agree, not liking the idea of a Siren world and collect-to-escape mechanics. Hopefully they find a way to make them a welcome addition.

Are those birds what the Zelda symbol represents?
Most likely, unless there's some other god bird or something. The Zelda in this game has the design on her clothes, so it's Skyloft in origin at least.

Also, the logo has the bird in it.. must be. ORIGIN TALE HERE WE GO.

Wallpaper get, good job!

Very interesting. The changes in the game smell of Miyamoto. Hopefully his attention can bring the series back around to its original greatness. It sounds like it is heading in the right directions...

I thought that was pretty obvious.
In the thread with the first trailer reveal I already noted that when Link jumps down into the clouds that the bird symbol suddenly rises to the screen, so I figured it would be the origin of the symbol.

That's great! I'd love a 1920x1080 version if that's possible.

Does anyone have the Nintendo press site info? I'd like to get in there and download the other art.
*ahem* tap dat assets

Would you mind to share?
Actually, I made it for myself, for my netbook with an odd aspect ratio. So I had to re-make it in standard 4:3 and 16:9 versions.

DlEDl.jpg

Download 4:3 version (1600x1200)
Download 16:9 version (1920x1080)

...Is the background okay? I'm starting to think a sky background might look better, but oh well.

Obvious? It's just we've never really seen/heard where the Hylian bird logo originates from... I didn't watch the trailer you're talking about.

Miyamoto said " If this wasn't the best Zelda ever, maybe we'd be done making Zelda games. So everyone is working very hard to make this game the best as they can."
What I like about Skyward Sword is that it essentialy looks like a "Best of Zelda". The puzzle focused overworld of older 2D games like AlttP, the dungeon design of later 3D Zeldas, (hopefully) difficult stealth parts of PH/ST, what we have seen so far of Skyloft (which is not a lot) makes the impressoin that it's finally an interesting city again with worthwile NPCs á la MM or at least WW, a new, hopefully streamlined way of traveling and on top of that motion controls that actually look like they add something to the game.

I like all of that very much. It might very well become the best 3D Zelda to date. It probably won't be as groundbreaking as, say, Ocarina of Time simply because Skyward isn't creating something that's actually new and I fear that parts of the press are going to ditch the game because of that.

Though, I like the idea of giving the next Zelda game to another developer. Zelda HD by EAD Tokyo? I could get behind that! Zelda HD developed by Retro? Oh, yes, why not?

The Zelda series has become kinda conventional over the years, and I would like to see someone developing a new vision of what Zelda might be. That is also the reason why I'd prefer Retro (or another outside studio) over EAD Tokyo (EAD still is EAD in the end and many Tokyo developers worked on the series several times already). Sure, maybe it goes horribly wrong, but it's worth a try.

Looking at all the footage of this I'm not surprised it was voted game of the show, looks amazing. To be honest I really liked the art style when they unveiled it last year and I like it even more now, to me it's the perfect mix of the Wind Waker and traditional Zelda aesthetics.

Just a damn shame I don't have a Wii to play it, although I can just wait until the Wii U comes out and play it backwards compatibility style on there.

Love it love it love it.
So happy they went with a middle approach on the art style between TP and WW. It looks fantastic. I think I am going to discontinue TP and just wait for this.

I don't understand this kind of reasoning unless of course you're not having any fun with TP.

Origin tale indeed. One main focus of this game that has already been revealed is the forging/origin story of the Master Sword. As Link has the Hylian shield fairly early in the game and Zelda being a part of the Skyloft royal family, one would assume that it is not a Hylian shield, but rather the shield of Skyloft royal family. Perhaps they are tasked with the protection of the Triforce (symbolized on the shield).

With the game leading into Ocarina, it seems likely that everyone from Skyloft will move down to the forbidden world below once Link saves the day and that land will then be deemed Hyrule, with the Skyloft shield becoming the Hylian shield and thus a secret reminder to future generations of the land above the skies.

Needless to say, this game is going to be incredible. Pastel art, smooth animation, origin story, orchestrated music, more puzzles, harder difficulty, item upgrading, enemies deal more damage... Man, I can't wait.

Loved everything I've seen except for the motion combat. Maybe it's just my dislike of every motion controlled game I've played, but that combat still looks like a mess to me.

Well aside from it giving me cataracts I am really not enjoying it like WW or of course Ocarina. I was kind of guiltily going through it.

Is there gonna be voice acting in this? Oh Nintendo. :lol

The game looks amazing regardless. I almost got chills looking at the trailer. I love how Nintendo are the masters at squeezing out visual fidelity from their consoles (when they put their A team, the boys at EAD, and others, on the job). To me, it doesn't matter that the Wii is technologically weak - Skyward Sword looks absolutely beautiful thanks to its art style, just like Mario Galaxy and Epic Yarn. The game looks like eye candy.

Did we get an answer on whether the underworld is interconnected or not? I'm going to be a little disappointed if the Metroid comparisons referred to Prime 3's structure.

It will work like the Great Sea in Wind Waker in that the central hub is Skyloft (the sea of clouds), and you'll find island in the sky as well as portals to the landscapes you'll be exploring. That's what I picked up from Nate when he was talking to Gamespot.
