Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword E3 trailer

Hopefully the weapon upgrades will allow the slingshot to do things the bow can't, so we won't end up with a situation like TP.
I've said it before. Bomb shooting with the slingshot.

There is a very high chance that it will ship with a Motion+ dongle.

Booooooo.

I hope so, but its not like its that expensive. I think Amazon has it for $10, though since its not built inside like the newer ones, how big would the controller end up being? I doubt the gel case would still fit, which I use.

Just a bit bigger. I have a gel case and it fits, but I'm not sure if it's a different type.

That would be amazing.

You have only yourself to blame.

At least you picked one that didn't accentuate her bangs.

No, I think the gel case still fits it. Although, I don't know why you would EVER want to use such a thing. Feels disgusting to me.

The Golden Wiimote will be the first non black or white controller that I will have purchased in half a decade.

Bring back crazy controller/console colors!

You're really asking for it, you know that?

I've always used it. Keeps it fingerprint free as much as possible too. Doesn't bug me.

I force guests to use the condom when they're over, but otherwise it's protection-free for me. Hate those things, they feel so awkward and gross. I'd much rather risk getting my controller dirty than play with one of those on.

We need to go deeper.

Explosion.

Has an exact release date for this been pinned down yet?

Nope. Other than August for EU, or so the rumor goes. Its on a release list and everything for them. But at E3 all they said was Holiday 2011, nothing new yet.

August for EU? Wow...

EDIT: November is such a horrible month for release though if they decide that. There's so much coming out in that one month.

"Holiday 2011" is the narrowest they'll say now.

I imagine this game will probably follow a similar M.O. to what NSMB Wii and DKCR did - blowout in September or October when they announce a date for late November, commercials airing about a week to two weeks before Black Friday.

When is Black Friday? Nintendo seems to reserve that day for their biggest release. (As you pointed out.)

Day after Thanksgiving, so the 25th of November this year.

I am betting...a week before that, maybe. Gives them time to sell launch stock, then another order for Black Friday.

Thinking about it, I wonder if the general point of Wii Play Motion (aside from making money) is to get Wii Motion+ in more people's hands before Zelda comes out.

Aurarian said:
I still don't have Motion+ actually. Gotta get on that before it comes out.
I have the dongle, but I'm considering getting a gold Wiimote+ for the "aah" factor and the likely weight difference if they offer it in a bundle with Zelda.

A bit late to the party, but I didn't participate in the E3 Skyward Sword discussion. After chewing through the footage, the talks, and what we know, all I can say is wow.

Firstly, the game is gorgeous. I do think that with beefier hardware and a better shader system they could have accomplished a more convincing 'oil painting' look, as even though that is the basis for the art I dont believe the game has quite hit that point. However, it still looks gorgeous, thanks to beautiful animations, rich colours and a super cute Zelda.

Secondly, seeing the motion plus usage and the smiting of waggling fools makes my heart smile. Though M+ integration came later in the game's development, I fully believe this will be the definitive motion heavy game, and a benchmark to which all motion controls will be judged. Zelda really is a perfect fit, and though it apparently slows down the fights a little, having every battle work as a 'puzzle' excites me. I love that each item uses M+ in its own way too.

Thirdly, the overworld. I wont be surprised if the game has only one main overworld (Skyloft), and you drop into specific positions down below rather than fully explore the world below, but it doesnt bother me. I'm so happy flight is finally confirmed, and Miyamoto stating there's a crazy amount of stuff to discover makes me believe many, many hours are going to be sunk into simply exploring.

Fourthly, dungeon remixing. This is sounding literally like everything many Zelda fans have been asking for. Returning to dungeons. Blending dungeons into exploration. 'The world is a dungeon'. Perfect. I'm a bit worried about the stealth stuff, because I hate stealth in all Zelda games, but I didn't mind the tears-of-light wolf stuff in Twilight Princess (for the first run) as much as others, so hopefully this will be similar.

Lastly, story/themes. Ghirahim is shaping up to be a stupid sexy villain, and I hope Nintendo dont shit on him like they didnt Zant. The way this game establishing itself as an origin story is really, really exciting too. While I expect a lot of really obvious referencing to events in games that take place later in the timeline, I also think there will be plenty of hints and clues towards other stuff that only the fans will spot and need to work out. Kind of like Valve's games. Lots of story and lore told through visuals.

All in all, my body is not ready but my penis is. Bring on Skyward Sword.

I actually believe Skyloft is more like Wind Waker's overworld. It has Link's home town and eventually a few other bigger islands, while also having tons of small islands in the sky to delve into.

Additionally there is a full world to explore below the sky, much like TP, OoT, etc.

I hate myself.

I was just thinking that "wow, if the EU schedule is correct i'll be playing this game in the UK in August", but then the PS3 user in me spoke up "do you really want to be playing this on the wii through your HDTV, look how poor a lot the games look even through a component cable, look how good RDR, Enslaved, Uncharted....look through HDMI, why don't you just wait for the Wii U and play it through the hdmi cable, it will probably look better than it will on the wii"

Anyone else having these thoughts or is it just me? I don't think i'd be able to wait till next April to play this though so i'll make do with the Wii.

If you're not satisfied with Wii games through component, then HDMI isn't going to help.

Well... the Wii U isn't going to upscale anything so at least that's something right? :P

But seriously the game is going to look gorgeous, even if it isn't 1080p. I know I'll be there DAY 1.

It's Zelda man, you HAVE to play it.

I'm assuming the Wii U will upscale this beyond the 480p wii and component are capable of. Won't that make a difference then?

Heck, I know I'll be buying this day one just like every other zelda (apart from OOT 3ds which has to wait till next week). It's just I havent turned my wii on for like 10 months, and i've been spoiled by the HD delights of late =[

It was just my assumption. I've seen gameplay of Skyward Sword where they were hunting the golden bird. From the little area it showed it seemed to me that there's not many huge islands (many small rock islands) so I assumed it'll be like Wind Waker from the layout in the Sky, but with much less to explore compared to WW. As there obviously needs to be something to explore I thought we might be getting a whole Hyrule overworld.

Maybe it's just my dream scenario, because if it's really like this the whole game area would be really huge and there would be enormously much to explore.

Ah, well I see why you'd want to wait then. But sadly, WiiU won't upscale Wii games.

Ah well, the artstyle could well mean this will look awesome on a hdtv anyway, wait and see time I suppose.

That would be cool as hell, but I think that's waaaay too optimistic.

WW overworld (or a mix of a ww/oot overworld) at best.

Everything is pretty much speculation anyway. We know there is an 'ocean' akin to WW's overworld (how much though, how big will the islands be? etc.). We also know that there is a world below story-wise and obviously Link and Phi will venture down at some point. We just don't know how big it will be.

While I hated TWW's overworld design for being so unrealistic and unnatural in terms of the layout and the design of all the tiny islands. I can excuse SS if it had small sky islands. At least the mode of transportation lets you move around more freely without being restricted by having to play music. Good lord was that a chore. I also hope there wont be another dumb fetch quest where you have to repeat the same long animations of hauling treasure out of the sea.
