Legendary Shipping Meltdowns (SPOILERS)

Ah, I see. So he's the MLP:EQG equivalent of an otaku?

Or, you know, a brony.
But yeah, apparently once you go unicorn, you can't go back.

EDIT: Also, not really following up on anything, but no one can blame shippers for shipping ponies when this is how friends talk on the show.

There were quite a few people who didn't "ship" Harry/Hermione so much as they were absolutely convinced that if you read between the lines of the first five Harry Potter books that Harry/Hermione was the obvious endgame pairing and if you disagreed you were WRONG. Then book 6 happened.

The meltdown was gloriously amplified a thousand-fold by the fact that in an interview with fans shortly after it was released JK Rowling basically called those people delusional.

Are shippers usually for homosexual pairings? Is it just for fun or because like, I guess they don't feel that there are enough homosexual couples in media. Cause I kinda get that-- but Jack pairing with Johnny Bravo kinda defeats the whole purpose...

A lot of it is that, a lot of it is just that they just like to get off to gay stuff, and a shitload it is the latter pretending to be the former. So you get a lot of "these two people of the same gender are friends, therefore they are TOTES GAY FOR EACH OTHER," or even just people trying to set the goalposts in such a way that a heterosexual relationship is poorly-written or otherwise problematic, which seems to be most of what's going on with Samurai Jack.

In all honestly a lot of it sort of horseshoe theory's around to being pretty problematic in that by being so thirsty for LGBT representation (be it for political or mastrubatory purposes) they inadvertently perpetuate the harmful mindset that all people/relationships that step even slightly out of the box of heteronormativity/cisnormativity are either gay or trans.

I was hoping that someone would take that shot. I was not disappointed. lmao

Mhmm. And not to mention the interactions between Sunset and Twilight (Princess or SciTwi) from Rainbow Rocks onward. Tons of ship-baiting animations, especially with Sunset and SciTwi.

Hell, at this point, I wouldn't be too surprised if that series does eventually end up having SciTwi break up with Timber and hooking up with Sunset.

You know that ain't going to happen lol.

At least one ship for Lelouch is over leaving like only 3 left.

I know. You can't deny it wouldn't be hilarious to see though.

I've totally seen people argue that Lelouch should die so he can reincarnate and be with the one in the next life or something.

I'd argue there's really only two. The one with Suzaku I would be extremely surprised to actually see happen.

I always thought CC was Lelouche's main squeeze. That just me?

No, this was always where I tended to lean with it as it made the most sense based on the story and character interactions overall by the end.

Maybe he will fuck her older sis.

I always got the impression she hooked up with one of her knights. The one with the glasses who I think went blind or something.

Wait the ponies become people?

Wait the ponies become people?

There is a series of spinoff movies called Equestria Girls, which are canon to the series, but the series never acknowledges them. It's about an alternate dimension where the ponies are humans attending high school.

People really weren't looking forward to them, but most people accept them now.

Pretty much. I always just saw Kallen as the side chick. "Kween CC is busy eating pizza...YO KALLEN, GIT IN HERE!!!"

Can his CLAMP noodle arms hold that Cornelia thickness?

Best girl due to that thickness.

C.C did make the most sense but the series have to keep the harem idea going.

Yeah Guilford, I also think he may be blind or something now.

I think a large part of that can be attributed to the EQG character, Sunset Shimmer. She's initially a pretty bland main villain in the first film, but goes on to get a pretty well-written redemption arc in the second film and becomes the series' co-lead with whichever version of Twilight the film stars.

Wait the ponies become people?

Only a couple.

It's an alternate human dimension, when ponies go there they become people, but most ponies already exist as people there.

The first two movies involve [pony] Twilight going there to stop rogue ponies who are fucking up the human world, in the first movie it's Sunset Shimmer (red/yellow hair posted on the thread), she's a pony who became human and stayed human. In the second movie it's a bunch evil "siren" ponies.

However, by movie 3, Human Twilight, that is, the one born in the human world, not the pony one, comes into the scene and basically they have removed the actual ponies from the plot.

TL;DR: There is about one horse turned human in a technicolor human universe.

I never realized how hard it would be to concisely explain Pony Twi and Sci Twi and which humans are humans and which humans are ponies until my post about Flash Sentry.

Alright, I'm going to give this craziness a shot.

These two are the same character.

And to make things even more confusing, apparently Discord likes to go to a bar on Cybertron.

Hasbro needs to take it easy on the whole multiverse thing.

They really pushed the whole thing with her falling for him in the second season, but it didn't seem to really go anywhere in the end. I guess you could sort say that for all of the romance though. Just felt with her they had other potential plotlines for the character they could have done, but they instead focused just on the romance part.

I legit don't recall that about Cornelia. Didn't she just have noodle arms and legs like all of the cast due to CLAMP?

I actually think one of the girls was actually working to convince the other two that they should all just share him or something. I don't really get why they have to keep it going though. Does the show having shipping wars actually make them money somehow?

It was really unclear, but I remember just being surprised the dude was actually alive. I hope the show maybe cools it down with the side characters. Felt like there were so many added in second season they didn't know what to do with them.

I remember hearing after the fact that there was intense shipping wars when it came to Gundam Wing and all the boys. Then I think one of the writers or something said they never wrote it with any romance in mind at all.

Ichihime was always going to win.
Yeah, don't know why people were surprised/upset. He was always going back to the real world, and she was always going to continue her duties as a Soul Reaper. The only shipping in that book that PISSED me off was Captain Commander and Utter Stupidity.

I've just straight up denied what the creators said in my mind. It was far too obvious for the entire show.

It's a good show if you can do the same and their relationship is truly sweet to watch unfold.

Or at least read this if you are interested in it: link

Fair enough! I can watch and enjoy it while ignoring what's basically a "no homo" by the creators.

That seems to be the probable answer, yes.

I don't even know why that answer pleases me when I haven't invested in MLP beyond season 2.

This bizarrely popular Spider-man/MLP fanfic I have in my hands says yes.

Oh my...

That was the loli hime girl.
I don't recall what happened to her. How was she pushed aside again?

If that's the one I'm thinking of, more or less the only reason people know about it is because the author pumped a ton of money into art commissions. Not just from pony artists, but also superhero artists.

But it also resulted in way more art depicting human Twilight with dark brown skin, so I can't complain too much.

Finale of S3 of The Vampire Diaries where Elena chose Stefan was a pretty big meltdown. Not sure how legendary it was but Delena shippers were pissed.

Cornelia eats her ice cream and cake...

Oh, and also this,

What the hell is this and why is that not Misty?! The question that brought new life to the Poke-shipping wars.

Ah right. I think she just sort of never entered the race but thought she did? She was alive at the end I know.

Cornelia eats her ice cream and cake...

That's not Cornelia! That's one of the pokemon from that economics pokemon show some years back!

I don't think the show needs to dial in anymore incest vibes though.

"good chemistry"
sis, Varrick literally treated Zhu Li like shit 100% of the time

First off, not a sis. And second, Zhu Li still put up with Varrick's shit and staying by his side pretty much the entire time. I mean, she even shared a prison cell with him in Book 2, even though Varrick was the one who was arrested.

I'm not saying the relationship writing was great (none of it in Legend of Korra was) but there is a pretty obvious basis for the pairing (even though it's conclusion ended up being completely underwhelming but hey, it was one of the least terrible things from a finale that included a giant 50-foot robot).

Does anyone keep up with the Star Vs. fandom?
I assume the Marco and Jackie stuff caused some drama with them.

The only thing i have seen close to a meltdown is people say "Straight people are crazy" for making tongue in cheek pictures of Star being affected by Marco dating Jackie (hilariously enough, one of the pics who got hit with it was drawn by a gay kid).

So can humans become ponies by going to pony land? I'm asking for uhhhh a friend.

Hard to tell, Spike the dragon became a dog when he came to the human world because his human world counterpart was a dog.

However, said human world dog went to pony world and did NOT become a dragon, instead he just gained the ability to speak.

So there seems to be different rules for what happens when human world stuff goes to pony world.

This thread made me realize, just like with digimon, i never cared about misty and ash being together and reading all this is baffling to adult me.

I'd heard about this but never actually read the whole thing and it's hilarious. Is there another part though? It stops before the very end of the manga and then the movie.

nope sadly, there was a followup but mostly just greentext

Oh, and also this,

misty shipping, like digimon, was mostly in a dub thing

Depends on how you travel between dimensions. Dragon Spike went through a portal, while dog Spike went through a tear in reality. Presumably Starswirl built the portals to change your shape after his initial prototypes in the reflections story arc didn't do this.
