Lets talk about replacement 3.5mm headsets for PS4

Dont suppose you would be able to use the psp headphones? It has kinda the same looking jack as at the bottom of the ps4 controller! lol

Any word on getting the 360 headset to work with an adapter? The mic that comes with the PS4 is so damn sensitive to sound you could hear a pin drop in the room.

An inexpensive pair of stereo on-ear or over-the-ear headphones with an inline mic would be perfect if anyone knows of one.

I can't use in-ear phones since I have weird pressure sensitive ears.

I've been using my Astro A40s and they've worked perfectly despite not being able to take advantage of the Mixamp through the controller's 3.5mm jack.
But you are able to take advantage of it. Your A40 Audio System came with an adapter, a 3.5mm tip-ring-ring-sleeve (trrs) plug splitting to two 3.5mm sockets, colored pink and green, respectively. Plug the trrs plug into the headset socket on the DS4. Run a cable from pink to the PC MIC port on top of the Mixamp. Remove the red daisy chain connector and run a cable from green to one of the daisy chain sockets. -blam!-, you can now use your Mixamp with the PS4 as you would with the Xbox 360.

If you've lost this adapter, you can order a new one from Astro for $5.
Top Tip: Use the messaging function of the console to test what your mic sounds like - open a new message to a friend and make a voice recording to attach to the message - you can preview the sound clip before you attach it, and hear what the other players will hear. Obviously you can then cancel out of the message and not send anything, but it's good for seeing what mics work well and which ones cause problems for your fellow gamers.
It should also be noted that unlike the Xbox 360, voice messages do not play over the chat channel. The only way to fully test chat is in party or game chat with another user. I used my Vita and an alternate account on my PS4 to test my setup today.

I have Nox headphones and they are great and I like them but the audio on the DS4 is just too low. Not sure why, but probably a compatibility issue or something. Going through my TV directly they are super loud. This is with all setting on Max for headphone volume in Settings

Guess I should find a new headset.

When the Bluetooth patch hits will I be able to use the wireless sony headset?

Does anyone know if the P4C is less sensitive than the default mic? There's too much and echo and stuff with it.
No one really online to test it with currently who is not already in a game etc.

I subscribed to the thread and I will give a full impression on sound a mic quality tomorrow when I get home from work.

One thing the P4c is comfortable and fits around your entire ear easily. The whole mic is adjustable and can be bent and twisted however you want. Adjustable volume and mute.

I will post mic and sound quality tomorrow. If anyone has any other specific questions just post and I will answer them tomorrow.

The people I play with haven't had any issues with me. I come in louder than most people (in a good way) because the mic sits right in front of my face. But I don't think it's more sensitive than the ear buds which have to be sensitive because they sit at your chest.

If it weren't for the awkward headband that isn't the most comfortable I'd give this thing a 4 out of 5. This headset is a 3 out of 5 otherwise. The ear piece part is fine though.

I found a reddit thread about the Turtle Beach PS4 chat cable. Apparently you can check out through Amazon and get Prime shipping? Anyone know how to do this?

I got the P4C earlier for 30 bucks at gamestop. What a piece of shit my god, I'd rather just have a 360 style headset. I took it back before they closed.

What I want to know is the jack supposed to be flush against the controller? I bought the p4c as well and while it's better the voices I'm getting are still muffled as hell. I tried pushing the jack in but it won't give and I'm afraid to break my controller.

from what I read there's a bit of the metal sticks out. Not from personal experience but from reading an amazon review that specifically mentions this annoyance with the ps4.

Maybe you got a bad one? It's much better than the ear bud and it's like a higher quality 360 style headset.

Gonna hook my headphone amp up to my PS4 through optical when it arrives next weekend

I will still use the bundled headset for the microphone. Still searching for a better one though. I hear the Zalman clip on mic is decent. Any advice on clip on microphones, anyone?

It's just a massive thing on your ear that makes squeaking sounds when it moves at all. The mic was so sensitive it picked up the sound of me tapping on a chair from like 6 feet away. The 360 mic seemed to be really good at cancelling out everything but your voice.

I'll admit, it's bigger than I'd like. But it wasn't super sensitive. I asked my cousin if he was hearing a lot of background noise and he said no. Maybe throw the old 360 foam on the end of the mic?

Thanks to this thread I've figured out how to get a decent pair a headphones to work through the audio jack. But what would be considered 'center speaker' sound is very quiet. When a character is talking I have to look left or right to hear him/her. What's up with that?

EDIT: This also was happening through my receiver.

Would these work for the PS4? And would it be for hearing chat only, or would you be able to hear the game's audio as well? I'm not very smart when it comes to gaming headsets.

That is a great set of headphones for the money, should work very well. At that price you better order soon. These are over £250 in the UK.

My understanding is you can send all game and chat audio to the controller output, so you are all set with these.
