Lightning Returns Gamescom trailer

Saying that the framerate hasn't changed at all since the first trailer is a complete lie.

There's nothing to hate on this trailer, really. Looks really good.

First bit: I agree, the frame rate has changed, pretty sure the last trailer we got had an improved frame rate.

Second bit: to be fair, the frame rate is all over the place in this video so it technically is a valid complaint.

However since the frame rate was okay in the last video, I'm sure the frame rate will be better than in this video when it's released. At least in most of these open areas.

Interesting: The game looks better and better, the haters become more desperate to find any small flaws. /sigh

I don't know, the story looks as uninteresting as ever.
They are even using Sazh' son as the exact same plot device character as in FF XIII. haha

The Snow- Lightning confrontation and dialogue certainly gave me specfic vibes.. but nothing of that will actually happen in the game. :D

They are really going for the cringeworthy monolgue Lightning in this trailer, I recognize a XIII trailer if I see one!

The only way I could get into this was if this was a 20 hour long boss fight with Snow.

What I find more interesting is how the defense force seems to be making additional mentions to haters every time they post.

The first scene in the trailer is an absolute waste in prerendered CG, that's for sure. Awkward dialogue and no particular effects or animations they couldn't do in-engine.

If the battle system, music, and world is good then the game might be good as well.

People place too much emphasis on story and characters to judge the quality of the overall game.

Who will you sacrifice?

13-2 had an awesome plot tbh.

If by awesome you mean one of the most poorly paced and most filled with made up bullshit ever, then you are indeed 100% correct.

Dialog is just as awful as expected and having any non-Snow returning party member wearing the same clothes manages to be even more lazy than how Tales of Symphonia 2 handled things considering this is the second game where they did not get wardrobe changes.

At least we're actually seeing more maps, and the framerate, while inconsistent, is at least a bit better than the shitshow in other trailers. But given the short development cycle, I am really, really wondering about how much content the game will have.

I'll let slide for now the issue of why you/Perfo/etc simply can't just ignore the enigmatic "haters," but is any negative discussion on the game somehow hampering your anticipation for the game to the point where you have to bring it up in every LR topic?

Looks good, it will probably end up being one of the better FF games.

The story is irrelevant, it looks no worse than any other game in the series.

The battle system and music will probably be good, like the first 2 were and stuff like IV, VI, VII, VIII and IX just won't be able to compete

Sazh wore the same outfit for 500 years... ffs.

Well fang & vanille have the same outflit for more than 1000 years. Heck even hope reverted back when i liked his outflit in FF13-2 more.

It's kinda silly when you look at the characters and only lightning , serah & snow have changed their clothing.

That said i'm excited for this game despite what some of you are saying.

Exploration , cool locates and finally the end of the story .

It looks really good. XIV aside, XIII & XIII-2 had nintendo like production values and it shows here.
At first I just wanted to see how the story goes and be done with it but now the game looks really promising for a sequel of a spin-off.
(because XIII-2 is not a real sequel, it's a spin-off, just like X-2 it could be ignored and it slightly messes up the story but LR is a true sequel of the spin off, you cannot ignore it, it completes the story)

Along with Dark Souls 2 and Drakengard 3, these are my proper big PS3 games for 2014.

Well fang & vanille have the same outflit for more than 1000 years.

Yeah but they were in crystal so their clothes were super clean.

In the next 'shit on LR' thread, someone must post this.

I usually post sales.

Honestly, that video got me a little bit more excited for Lightning Returns. When Mog mentioned a moogle village in XIII-2, I REALLY wanted to see it, but that never happened. Now we get a moogle village which is awesome. xD The story looks ridiculous, but the gameplay looks like it'll be decently fun. I like the areas they showed off today - especially the green field/moogle village/etc.

Seems like the battle animations for Lightning are pretty cool. Surprised they did some work on that stuff. The costumes look cool but they don't really fit Lightning. Err.... why didn't they just use some of these designs in FF14?

Having said that, holy shit dialogue is so bad in that trailer. Makes some of the cheesier shit I went through this gen look like a fucking masterpiece. lol. Also.. dem spoilers?

I thought it was way better than XIII overall.

Anyway I still think this looks really cool. Liking the environments a lot.

XIII-2 had so many things on how not to make a sequel. With the exception of certain aspects of the game, it was one of the examples on why modern game design/sequels are so freaking broken.

Spear combat, unarmed combat, fighting alongside Fang...

Just when my excitement for this game is dying down, SE gets me all begging for more.

I can't explain why I'm so unreasonably excited for this game. It's just hitting all the right notes. Entertaining plot, outfit switching, fanservice (the non-sexy kind), high skill-cap combat system with multiple playstyles.

God, I want it to out already.

Also, different animations for different weapons confirmed (rapier (shortsword?) and spear animations are different than what we've seen for the longsword).

Letting Serah die, maybe? He probably feels guilty for letting it happen.

While this most likely will be the case,
it still seems strange since Snow wasn't even in the picture, like, ever outside of his brief romps in the Flan place and in the Arena. That onus would go more to Noel than anything.

I'm interested in playing this to see how much of a mess the story is now.

Truthfully though I hope it's more challenging than FFXIII-2. That was my biggest issue with that one.

Care to elaborate? XIII-2 was better in every aspect than XIII and it's one of the few examples of how to do a sequel.

Lightning's voice actress, the dialogue, Snow's hair, the costumes, the graphics, it's all so terrible. I will keep my expectations for XV extremely low, I don't have faith in Square Enix if they have the nerve to develop and release turds like this.

I just noticed Mog is fighting alongside Lightning and Fang.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's just a little shiny bit with a red light that looked exactly like Mog on my phone.

Wow, nitpicking much?

FF fans care about their hair.

(I honestly think it's the best Snow's looked yet)
